  1. Anybody go to the videotape and analyze him at all at tackle?  I'm curious.

Sportline team report said he received "high grades"

--Second-year OT Jason Peters, a converted tight end, earned his first start at right tackle for an injured Mike Williams (ankle) and earned some high grades. Williams dressed, but saw action only on special teams.

  2. Many are talking about running MM & Co out of town. I guess we have not learned. Let's look at the list of loser coaches that were run out of Buffalo because they supposedly sucked. How are they doing now?

Wade Phillips - San Diego DC - shut down the Pats and golden boy Brady last weekend

Dan Henning - Panthers OC - runs a solid offense that ran up the score against GB

Mike Sheppard - Saints OC - leads an offense that rushed for 160+ yards against the vaunted Bills 'd

Turk Schonert - Saints QB Coach - coached a very composed Brooks in the face of massive Bills blitzing

    ....and don't forget everyones favorite........

Kevin Gillbride - NY Giants QB Coach - mentoring and developing one of the games up and comming passers, Eli Manning -- and doing an EXCELLENT job of it!

.....but who does everyone still love?

Ted Cottrell - Vikings DC - a defense that can not stop anyone

Am I crazy? Getting run out of Buffalo sure isn't slowing these guys down. Is there anyone else I'm missing?

  3. I don't care what anybody else says, this D is pretty good probably even very good.  Are they getting turnovers?  No.  But the problem is that the opposing team knows the best way to beat us is play is close to the vest, take some shots, grind the ball b/c our D is on the field for almost twice as long and they are wearing down.

Horrible O and very good D turns the D into only a mediocre D.

Hopefullly they can turn it arounf these next two weeks to give us some hope.

I generally agree, but am concerned about the number of third down conversions they give up. Even early in the game when they are still fresh.

  4. I'll go back to the original question: "Why so much faith in J.P?"

Because Mularkey, Clements, Wyche clearly supported the change. All 3 of which have coached many NFL QB's in their time. Especially Wyche, who coached Montana and Esiason.

If they feel confident that J.P. is ready to start, I will trust their opinion way before a worrywart fan.

That bein said, its still the NFL and he still may not pan out....

  5. Well, that view is pretty similar to what we heard before the draft.  That TD would get what he wanted by waiting until draft day and then he would be besieged with offers.  Henry isn't the only running back out there nor is he even the best available right now.  If some team does lose a starter to injury, Henry would probably be their third choice at best.  Therefore, we need three starters to get hurt in camp before Henry's stock goes up.  Besides, teams know that he is pretty much useless to us as it is so I doubt we would have much of a bargaining position.

As it stands now, the most likely scenario is that we will have a pro bowler stewing on the bench all year who will be gone at the end of the season in exchange for nothing.

Why would he be the 3rd choice?

I'm assuming that your assuming that James and Alexander would be better choices. The problem with going after those guys is that you need to give up multiple picks including a 1st rounder to get them. Travis can be had for a 2nd or 3rd rounder (I think). That evens the field a little for henry vs. James and Alexander.

  6. The Bills are ranked #3 in D without Vincent.  He's irrelevent... he can stay on the injured list as long as he wants.  In 11 seasons, he's only played 4 full ones.  So, why would I, or anyone else, expect that he's going to play more than half or two thirds of a season? To sign him to a big contract was stupid... all along the Bills could have lived with McGee.

Now, if Vincent comes back and gets 5 picks and locks down his receiver... then I might change my tune.  But, I think he's basically an average corner with a liltte more experience than others.  I don't even think he's as good as Winfield.

Are you kidding me? Vincent has:

    * been in 5 of the last 5 pro bowls

    * missed just 16 out of a possible 192 games because of injury before this season

    * never sat more than three games in a row (in 9 NFL seasons)

Nice hindsight. I'm fine with McGee, but he's been up and down and nobody was sure he would be any good last offseason.

  7. Might be able to get the #2 ranking, but the Steelers are pretty damn good and I can't see them losing their #1 spot.

    143185[/snapback]

That's fair. The Steelers only play Jax, Jets, Giants, Ravens, and Bills.

It will be a great defensive game when the Steelers - Bills play. #1 against #2. Hopefully they both have something to play for. I want a good matchup forget this "I hope the Steelers to roll over" BS.

  8. I still stick with Pats and Eagles. Pitt has a chance, but I will not respect the Colts until they show something in the playoffs. I'm not sold on Vick's QB talent yet

    - physically he is the best (running, arm strength, accuracy, touch)

    - mentally he can't read a defense for sh-- and I don't know if he ever will, though he's learning his second system
