Vince Young battling for NFL futureBy Kevin Patra |Aug 9,2012Vince Young tumbled from budding superstar to fighting for a roster spot on the Buffalo Bills. One of the greatest college football players of his generation, Young was chosen No. 3 overall in the 2006 NFL Draft. He was a Pro Bowl quarterback in 2009. Three years later he is in competition with Tyler Thigpen for the backup role with the Bills.“Vince Young does have a future in the NFL but he has got to win the backup job this year,” Steve Wyche said Thursday morning on “NFL AM.” “I was speaking to Bills General Manager Buddy Nix, they are only keeping two quarterbacks and his battle is with Tyler Thigpen and he thinks it’s going to go down to the fourth (preseason) game.”Young started three mostly forgettable games in Philadelphia last season for an injured Michael Vick, however he is reportedly struggling to pick up the Bills offense.“His future is his past,” analyst Mark Kriegel said on the same “NFL AM” broadcast. “It’s such a steep fall that we’ve actually lost sight of it. This guy was a two-time Pro Bowler, a Rookie of the Year, he was supposed to be RG3.”Of the 13 quarterbacks taken in the 2006 NFL Draft, only Jay Cutler is penciled in for a starting postion in 2012. Fellow 2006 draftee Brad Smith is slated to be a Wildcat quarterback and emergency passer, leaving Young to battle for his NFL future.“If Vince Young doesn’t win this job that phone’s not ringing,” Wyche said. “It barely rang before Buffalo called.”

Makes no difference if you think the writer is credible, Thigpen is having a better training camp. He is also Chan Gailey's boy.
According to several different sources Young has made some nice throws but he is still struggling with the playbook
The Bills are not moving Young to #3, so its very possible he may be waived.

Wow, a perfectly good rumor and you guys freaked it up.........
-
Well, I guess Thursday night will be HUGE for Vince Young.
-
If this is True, I will be shocked, Thigpen again in 2012?
Geeez,
-
-
If his kids attend every home game, it's a sell out.
-
Because the media has no balls. It's true
-
Perfect fit for Cleveland, 3 games then back to jail
-
Put down the bath salts and step away my friend.. lol
Okay, then give Thigpen a chance
-
Really? IDK what you see that I don't because I thought VY has sucked since I saw him play at Texas. Fitz isn't the greatest QB in the world but he is light years better than Young, and it's not even close.
Its still a matter of giving a 2 time Pro bowler a shot. What if Young goes elsewhere and plays much better then Buffalo's drafted Quarterback ?
Are you willing to wait on another developmental quarterback? Losman & Edwards got us nowhere and wasted 5 years.
Buffalo will most likely draft mid round or worse so the answer isn't likely next season
Just for the record, I AM NOT a Vince Young fan. Fitz will do well this season....
-
If you are looking for perfectly thrown long passes with pin point accuracy while he throws a forearm into a blitzing linebacker then no.
-
-
So now, its become a political thread ???
Geeeez,
-
I think we're stuck with Thigpen & VY until the end of the season. My hope is the Nix & Co either draft a backup QB, or get a solid backup in FA.
I would rather see Vince Young receive a chance to take over the starting job BEFORE I waste a draft pick. But that's just my me.
-
I seriously doubt Chan Gailey would switch directions unless one of our top 2 backups seriously BOMBED
-
This thread wasn't political until you and others tried to make it political. It's a topic about football, or at least it was.
I doubt anyone has a chance. It's football
-
Oh, Mr President...Tebow, Sanchez, doesn't matter. If either one wins a Superbowl, somebody else made that happen.
Sure won't be Rex Ryan
-
I wonder if Mitt Romney will challenge Obama on this subject?
Probably support the New York Jets for providing jobs to the handicapped.
-
And lose a few thousand votes in NJ-NY-CT?
I was kidding with that statement....
Lets hope Obamas comment can't posibly sway ONE vote, otherwise, we are in BIG trouble.
-
You don't know this board well then. PPP is for politics and this place is for football. It's not your fault but I don't come to this board for anyone's opinion on politics because I honestly don't care.
You just lost my vote for President !! (lol)
Seriously, the Bills open against the Jets. Believe it or not, the comments are not about politics, it's about football and TEBOWMANIA and stupid ass Rex Ryan.
I love it........sorry dude.
-
Not from anyone I know there!
Well he came close, had Obama said the Jets suck, he had my vote.
Just move these thread before I have to hear everyone's worthless political agenda that I didn't ask to hear.
Seems to me its all pretty much harmless humor. Geeez
-
Now, if we can just create jobs and pay down debt.....
Tebow is rich, AND HE MUST PAY TAXES
