  1. The devotion that some fans have for EJ is weird. " I do not care if EJ loses every game." ??? Really?
  2. I like the Pro Bowl being played before the Super Bowl, and I prefer that the nominees, whom are going to the Super Bowl, not play in it. If Los Angeles ever gets an NFL team, they should be called the L.A. Bronze. Buffalo wings were invented in Rochester. And... (sigh)... here it goes... I fear that EJ is going to be a bust.
  3. I'm fine with the trade, and I don't think there is any revisionist history going on here to support it. As I recall, he was not happy in Buffalo, and had dropped his head out of the game. He had two great seasons followed by two average seasons, and his trajectory in Buffalo was headed down. I think it's naive to think he would have the kind of production here, as he is in Seattle. He's a great player, but an immature person. It's lots of fun to play on a winning team like Seattle. But, considering the problems we have had in Buffalo since his departure, I don't think his attitude would have improved much. And, it's not like we are thin at running back. I would take CJ or Freddie, with their combination of talent, professionalism, and great attitude, over Lynch any day of the week.
  4. The fact that he sat out all preseason, and hasn't played a snap yet due to injury just might lower his value a wee bit.
  5. I'm not sure if this is sarcastic, or not. But, quite frankly, what kind of pick would ANY NFL team give us for him? Having played a total of six games in the NFL, he has sustained two knee injuries. He's going to have a lot to prove when he comes back.
  6. Just how is this, "an elephant in the room?" If you're foggy on the metaphor, the "elephant in the room" refers to a glaringly obvious issue that no one wants to talk about, or is going unaddressed. I read these threads A LOT, (although, I rarely post). I can't think of anyone in these forums, even the most strident EJ supporters, who don't freely admit that EJ is a "work in progress."
  7. Let's bench our first round rookie and play our UDFA rookie. That way, we could WIN THE SUPER BOWL.
  8. SOCSG ................................(Same Old Clowns, Same Gripes).......................................
  9. Vegas consensus has us as 2.5 point underdogs. Considering it's an away game, that pretty much puts us right on par with the Jets (in the eyes of Vegas bookmakers, anyway). Some other interesting odds of note: The Pats are, once again, 7 point favorites. The Bucs are net -3 points so far this season. Are the Pats being overestimated (again)? The Phins are 1.5 point favorites against the Falcons. That one surprised me. The Phins should be taken seriously.
  10. I believe this link really sums up the media obsession with Tebow: http://www.theonion.com/articles/report-several-nfl-teams-interested-in-tim-tebow-a,33884/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=SocialMarketing&utm_campaign=LinkPreview:1:Default
  11. I'l bet that Dolphin fans are in a pretty good mood tonight.
  12. No offense, but perhaps that is part of the losing mentality at work. As if we feel ourselves competing for #2.
  13. I don't agree with this perspective at all. I am a fan of the game every bit as much as I am a fan of the Bills. Suh's objective (IMO) is to make other players feel like they have to keep him in their peripheral vision because they're not sure when he's going to take a cheap, illegal shot. That may "help" his team win by way of distraction, but it is bad for the game. This type of play injures people unnecessarily. It adds pressure for the types of rule changes that we all lament. It's unprofessional. And, I don't buy his excuses one bit. If he doesn't have the awareness that the play has moved downfield (he does), then he shouldn't be on the field. And, just to clarify, I don't care so much about character, or reputation. I'm fine with there being "bad guys" on the field. Just not cheaters. I put some of this on Jim Schwartz, as well. I'm all for coaching a team to be feared. But, it's gotta be for the right reasons.
  14. I really, really, really try to be objective about football, and football teams (Bills notwithstanding)- mostly because of my propensity for gambling. The Bills, and the Pats have always been two teams that I almost never bet on, because of my inability to be objective about either of them. But, last year, I found that I had to add the Jets to that list. I can't help getting an emotional reaction to them. The Bills are my team (obviously). The Pats are like the Evil Empire- I cannot think rationally about them. The Jets- they're like the obnoxious co-worker who messes up everything he touches, but gets the promotion anyway, because his self-delusion about how "great" he is has somehow rubbed off on management, who really aren't paying attention to the details, anyway. ARRRGH! SCREW THAT GUY!!!
  15. Vegas Insider consensus has the Pats at -12. Most sports books opened at around -10. I actually have some money down on the Jets covering the spread. Not that I think the Jets are being underestimated, but I think the Pats are being overestimated- especially on a short week. The Bills have been three point underdogs all week long.
  16. Sure, you have to pay for all these rewards. But, the heartbreak is free.
  17. I'm having a hard time caring who wins. But, I will say: both teams are going to be losing some games this season.
  18. Thanks for posting this. This is a really good article, worthy of a bookmark. It also contains quite a few links to sites that explain some of the more advanced areas of football strategy. Great for someone like myself who is trying to expand my knowledge of football. For anyone interested, here is another link to an interesting article on the mindset of NFL players: http://www.theonion.com/articles/hannah-storm-on-what-shes-learned-from-interviewin,33706/
