  1. I think we need to win the Division to get in. So we need to be 1 game behind Miami before we play them in week 18. That’s unlikely but it’s doable. Can’t lose another AFC game if we want a chance at the wild card though. That means W’s against Miami/NE/KC/Chargers

I’m counting on Miami’s usual December swoon but they look much better this year unfortunately.

  2. Gabe cannot play in the slot

He get’s zero separation. He’s not quick twitch, he’s like a train that takes time to get up to speed. That’s exactly the opposite of what you want in the slot

I’d guess Brady leaves Gabe where he is, uses him to block and draw coverage downfield, and hope for Playoff Gabe to appear if we make it that far

  3. I have ZERO concern about Diggs. In fact, I loved the fact that we could put up 32 points without him and Davis being big factors.

Sauce is an over rated but solid CB and they were doubling Diggs all night.

So what did Brady do? He schemed for their weaknesses which were defending the run, defending the middle of the field, and defending RBs catching the ball.

That’s exactly what an OC should do.

Against other teams that aren’t as strong in defensive backfield, Diggs will be a bigger part of the game plan.

And why risk a setback in a game that was well in hand.  I never felt the game was in jeopardy at any point if they continued to play as they were.  When will we see an impact from Von we won't know until we see it but I have no doubt he's keeping the young guys motivated.  I wouldn't be surprised if he's a big reason Oliver is playing at and maybe even exceeding his new contract.  Players will listen to a 2 time SB winner and he was the MvP of SB 50.

You’ve got 3 Von apology posts in this thread alone. Von is competing with Kingsley Jonathan for least effective DE on his team and he’s been a liability when he’s on the field. He blew the edge on Cinci’s 3rd down and Mixon waltzed by him. He has ZERO impact on how well Oliver is playing because Von hasn’t been doubled once since he’s come back. He’s still a very limited player. The reality is the best we can hope for is that we sneak into the playoffs and he rounds into some sort of impact player. He isn’t that now.

  5. Gabe does so much you guys can’t appreciate. He’s the Tremaine Edmunds of the offense and you just don’t know how to break down game film like Cover 1 or Shill Capaccio to notice. He draws coverage away from other players, well, at least 1 guy. He takes 6 seconds to get up to full speed which really throws off the defensive timing. He blocks well and is an expert at setting us up for going for it on 4th down when he drops 3rd down passes in his hands. You just don’t appreciate our captain.

Edit: Oh sorry, here’s the /s for 1/4 of this board

When Allen executes, and the run game clicks, we are a force. I don’t care much who is calling plays.

The reason Allen and the run game are clicking has a lot to do with the plays that are called and the timing of those calls. Dorsey just picked plays out of a hat. Brady actually had some strategy and flow to his play calling. Big difference.

  7. Joe Brady just called a game that destroyed the #3 defense in the league on 5 days notice.

Anyone who has any complaints can just go STFU and hang out with Filthy Beast.

We got the W against a good D when an L would have ended the season. That’s all that matters. We live to fight another day.

Bonus points - we won without Diggs or Davis making plays, which means when they get back involved things will get even better.

Only downside I saw was the defensive injuries which may be too much to overcome and Smiley should have been fired at halftime.

    McD isn't getting fired.

Watch the breakdowns by Kurt Warner, JT O'Sullivan, Dan Orlovsky, Eric Turner, etc...   The problem with the offense isn't as simply solved as getting Diggs the ball more or getting a vertical threat - though I would love the latter.  Orlovsky gives a good breakdown of Dorsey's flaws in scheme and play-calling.  Warner gives a good breakdown of Josh's mistakes.  Cosell says we're not a high-talent offense yet we're trying to win matchups instead of trying to win with scheme.  And so on.  They don't all agree but they do all make good points.  There are a lot of things contributing to the drop in offensive production.  Josh's decision making, sadly, is one of them.

The bolded is the best summation of why this offense started misfiring after the Green Bay game last year

Dorsey did not adjust his scheme adequately after teams adjusted to his initial offense and he was lost since then. I’m glad he’s gone because that problem doesn’t fix itself. IDK if Brady has any answers considering it’s the same scheme but maybe his play calling can make up for the lack of scheming guys open and we can squeak a few games out while he tinkers.

That’s a long shot but best we’ve got.

Even if this team battles a little to make a playoff run, I still feel McD is gone. I think Pegula keeps Beane to start a offensive HC search.  Diggs will most definitely have a 1st round wr lined up on the other side.

As far as what could've been, we experienced as many injuries as these other teams. But at least Josh hasn't gone down. Speaking of Josh, he must work harder. Maybe a little less golf and more Palmer.  Just about every big name qb has said he must work more on the mental side of being an NFL QB.  And finally it doesn't surprise me that the media continues the Josh/ Diggs drama narrative to keep views. At this rate the way qbs are dropping,  Josh might be last man standing regardless of his shoulder.

You seriously think if the Bills make the playoffs that Pegs will fire McD?? That sounds more like what you want to happen (which is perfectly fine) than reality.

I’m off the McD train but I don’t expect him to be gone unless we lose out. Even then it wouldn’t really surprise me if he gets another year

We getting Fournette this week? A total waste to keep him off the roster. What are we waiting for? Us to be mathematically eliminated? Call the guy up, you have 2.

It’s absolutely infuriating how long it takes to get offensive guys up to speed and integrated into the offense. Other teams sign a guy and they go out and make plays that week. We sign or trade for a guy then need to give him 6 games to get a few touches or if you are Hines, you get barely any at all.

This would be the perfect week to bring up Playoff Lenny and give him a few touches. Maybe he provides a spark? If he doesn’t, so what, you’ve got Cook and Murray.

You have over a thousand posts on an NFL team's message board... and you're upset that people are voicing their opinions and guessing on what's happening inside the organization?

I'm sure everyone appreciates the sage wisdom of "things are good when you win" but the whole point of a message board is to speculate and discuss.

I’m not upset at all. I think it’s very funny everyone trying to do a deep dive on the psychology when I think it’s as simple as Winning fixes everything.

  12. I didn’t realize we had so many renowned psychologists/psychiatrists on this board.

The amount of outright guessing/assuming/conjecture is pretty funny.

McD has lost the lockeroom! McD only cares about the defense! Josh misses his ex GF! He sits alone! Hilarious.

Ya know what fixes this? A couple of W’s. That’s it. Everything sucks right now because they are losing and not meeting expectations.

I don’t think you need to look much further than that. But please, keep speculating because it makes for entertaining reading.

His contract isn't near the issue that it's made out to be, as he can and will be a very valuable piece on offense (his contract isn't bad at all, it's not good by any circumstance but bad it's not)

I think the Knox hate/dislike all stems from fans seeing Kincaid is better and the coaching staff/Allen not moving towards Kincaid sooner

I think this is another indictment of Dorsey. Knox and Kincaid are different players with complementary skill sets. A good OC would be able to get both of them involved regularly, not one or the other. Then once you establish that, you can use trend breakers by switching them up because Knox can catch and Kincaid can block. It’s not friggin rocket science and Dorsey makes offense more complicated than in needs to be.

Scheme against and Attack a defenses weaknesses. When something works, do it until they stop it. When all else fails, unleash the Joshinator and let him do his thing. Unfortunately with Dorsey, it was all Josh all the time yet they clipped his wings and expected him to be the same guy.

  14. I'm off the McD train but I fully expect him to be here next year.

All this talk about scapegoating is ridiculous. The season is essentially over and something radical had to be done to try and salvage anything in case Miami has its usual swoon and we somehow sneak into the playoffs (I do not expect this)

If McD was looking to cover his ass he would have waited until the end of the season to sacrifice Dorsey instead of a mid season change which rarely works out.

I also think it was a wakeup call to Josh to get his head out of his ass and be the QB and leadsr we know he can be.

This offense has been far, far too predictable under Dorsey. Opposing teams know what is coming and unless the Buffalo offensive players play perfectly it's doomed to fail.

The offense might be complex to a degree but its plays have been simple for teams to diagnose.

Hopefully, this changes this week with a different OC.

You nailed it. This is why Dorsey is gone and should have been fired weeks ago.

You hear from many of our offensive players (Playoff Lenny most recently) how complex out offense is. Then you hear opposing defensive players talk about how predictable it is, how they know exactly what we are running based on formations.

    That’s a huge problem.

  16. I maintain that it all started with McDorsey neutering Josh’s running early in the season. Taking Josh’s running threat away completely disrupted Allen’s processing and mojo. I was never ok with that and now Allen is a complete head case (other reasons as well).

    13 seconds

    12 men

It’s time for McD to go and take Dorsey with him.
