1. If by as good as gone you mean: not so much.

Then yeah, I guess you're right.

But to answer your question, I would love it! My ideal situation would be if Nate refused to sign that we "tagged n' traded" him for a late-1st and then took the money we were going to give to him and gave it to Ty Law.

There will be people who will say, "oh yeah, like we need another aging DB". But the fact of the matter is, he's still one of the top DB's in the league. I like the idea of reuniting him with Milloy. It could spark them both.

Actually I have a pretty good reason from the man himself, to suspect that he will not be returning.

I don't want to reveal how I know or turn this into a 'soprano' situation, but I'll try to illustrate.

Lets just pretend that Milloy had a personal website with a bunch of Bills logo's on it. Then he does away with that website and starts up a new one (about 5 or 6 weeks ago), yet this time there is no Bills logo, only an NFL logo.

Like I said, thats sort of an illustration of what I know. The reality is very similar. I realize it could mean absolutely nothing, but this went down right at the end of the regular season. Combine that with the fact that the team played like sh--, the D wasn't very good, coaching staff turnover, and he is a free agent, and it doesn't look so good.

  2. You know they used to see Genny Cream Ale in the south as a premium... (and I must admit I still enjoy a green screamer every now and again).

True story about Iron City. When I went to Fredonia, the Quality Supermarket had mistakenly received a pallet of IC light. They had it on sale for 2.99 for a 12 pack.

We bought as many as we could carry, went home and got stewed.

A day or two later we returned to the store to get more, only to find the pallet was gone, so I asked one of the stock boys if there was any left. He pointed to a shopping cart filled with the remaining 12'ers. As we walked up to it we realized the price had gone down to $1.49 per 12 pack.

I wheeled the entire cart right up to the register and bought the whole damn thing!

  3. Bingo. Give that man a cigar.

I saw them at Rich in '75 and thought they were a great live act, generating a lot of excitement, though still diappointed at their half-hearted effort to make the songs sound right. Poorly executed harmonies, playing out of tune, off beat, etc.

The message seemed to be "you should feel privileged to be in our presence - screw actually trying to play well".

Not that many years ago, they did a tour where they did some bar gigs, small arenas, and large stadiums. They had a good backing band, singers - the works. AND....they actually played tightly in order to put out another live album. So, they can do it if they give a shiite. Instead, they thumb their noses at all the suckers putting down a few hundred bucks to see their sorry washed up asses.

They're legends and have a fantastic catelog of work, but they're no longer relevant.

Sorry, but for me, if the music sucks, the show sucks. Mick ain't quite so pretty any more that he can rely on his charisma to carry the band.

True to certain extent, but that is their style.

  4. Ok, let me weigh in on this...

Nothing is sweeter than seeing Big Sam shoot the gap in perfect harmony with the snap! The QB hands the ball to the running back who is like "OH STEVESTOJAN!" as he gets plowed under by 350 lbs. of Sam Adams, the second he takes the hand off. THOSE are the plays that make differences in the game, and it's been a long long time since we've had a d-lineman with that capability.

And he might be well rested after a nice vacation at "Club Marv" come summer.

  5. Seeing that their banner has a guy holding an xbox controller and another guy holding a 20-sided die, I can only imagine that things get pretty rowdy on their boards.

I think I'd rather avoid those hellions...

    582369

LOL! See... that was a good joke!

  6. It hurts to get E-sand kicked in your face, , doesn't it, yall? Oh, sure, maybe not as much as jumping on a bicycle with the seat missing, but it hurts.

    582337

Oh, I don't really care, I'm just pointing out the 3rd grade mentality. Feel free to throw as much crap as you can.

A huge percentage of posts are nothing more than electronic posturing, followed up by bad jokes. You just have to wade through the stevestojan to find the occasional worthwhile thread.

As far as internet forums go, this one is pretty timid. Go try throwing your hat in at the debate forum at penny-arcade if you think you are up to it. It can get pretty vicious over there.

  7. E-bullying. Cute.

Frankly, I think some of the online headsmacking is a bit warranted. Why? Because unless you notice it otherwise, it's almost always either aimed at the people regurgitating the same thing said by twelve people before them or they are introducing logic that is moronic at best.

Maybe it's based on some bizarre hypothetical such as "Now hear me out: If dark blue was really royal blue and deep red was really dark red and a charging buffalo was really a patriot in a three-point stance, how many rings do you think we'd have?" That type of idiocy deserves an online headsmack.

Bumping of one's own thread because Kobe hit 81 points deserves an online headsmack.

Moaning that you are being laughed at because you are a Bills fan is deserving of an online headsmack.

Repeating ad nauseum that we are going to suck hind tit once again simply based on the wee bit of information that our new head coach is Dick Jauron is deserving of an online headsmack.

Face it. This board has more traffic than any other Bills board. More traffic means more people. More people naturally means more idiots. More idiots means more idiotic notions. And idiotic notions deserve online headsmacking.

In fact, you deserve a little online headsmack for defending the people who deserve online headsmacking.

We're holier than thou. Deal with it.

Ever heard of the ignore fuction?

The people that feel the need to be annoying on the internet are just sad. They probably get little attention from folks in the real world. They feel that long, verbose posts on an internet forum will show the world what a true comic and/or intellectual genius they really are.

  8. Don't remember the specifics but the general feeling around here was that the 'ball bounced in favor of Chicago' very often that year in the close games.

    572230

You mean like how the ball didn't bounce our way this year? You make your own luck...

I was not pleased initially to hear Jauron was a front runner. But the more I hear about him, the less hesitant I am about him being hired.

  9. The fans can wolf down on my knob. The ones he's pandering to are a bunch of clueless jackasses who are more interested in seeking attention than improving the Bills.

50 years ago he liked football so he bought a team. How is that really relevant to the present?  ;)

And Mortenson is about the only person who's making any sense right now.

Guess what. The fans are jerks.

Yeah, I'm thrilled that paper signs are the first thing he wants to talk about. That'll really get the team moving in the right direction.....

    553294

Someone actually made you a mod? :)

I'm not the type of fan that would bring in a sign, derrogatory or otherwise. But I have to say, when I heard about people with signs being harrased by security, it bothered me. It sounds like it bothered a lot of people, including RW. Maybe he is old school and that kind of sh-- bothers him. If so, there is nothing wrong with him apologizing. As a matter of fact, I welcomed it.

  10. Core system has always been $299.00, but only a fool would buy it. For $100.00 more (the cost of the premium is $399.00) you get a remote, wireless controller, headset, and a hard drive. Seperately the extra would add up to almost $200.00 more.

As far as the comparison to a PS2 or even an Xbox goes, that is laughable. I have a PS2, Xbox, and a 360. Remember what PS2 games looked like when it first came out? Wait another 6 months before passing judgement on the 360's graphical prowess. As far as it's similarity to what a tricked out PC can do, check out Call of Duty 2 on a fully tricked out PC. Next play it on a 360 hooked up to a TV. The 360 actually plays it with better frames rates. Cost of a 360 - $400, cost of a decent PC - $1000-2000.

Where to get them? I bought mine on ebay before the launch and only paid 500. I know the guy that sold it to me is regretting it now. You best bet is to check in at BestBuy and Circuit City as often as possible, as they will continue to receive occasional shipments.

Also check out Xbox fan forums like teamxbox.com or xboxaddict. People will frequently post links to web sites offering 360's in stock.

  11. I think this is pretty much what it all comes down to. Five guys versus four guys. Which group wins.

Seems like the five guys would have the advantage most of the time. But not our five guys on the offensive line. Our five guys basically can't handle their four guys. Other teams can generate enough pressure with their four guys that it forces us to do something different, like keeping extra guys in. So we have even fewer guys running patterns, and they have more guys back in coverage. Unfortunately that math doesn't add up for us.

Then there's our four guys on the defensive line. There's some talent there, but let's face it, not nearly enough. Our four guys are nearly incapable of beating their five guys and either clogging up holes or getting some pressure on the quarterback. It ain't working. So we need to send blitzers, which occasionally works, but it seems like decent teams can adjust to it. When we're not sending the house, other teams don't need to keep extra guys in to help, which means more guys running patterns, more opportunities for passes to running backs and tight ends.

We've got some major problems on the offensive line. I'm not ready to call our right side a failure just yet, cause I think a healthy Villarial and Williams are a solid pair. But if they can't stay healthy, that does us no good. I have no idea what to think of Teague, but my guess is, if it's not clear, it's probably not good. I think we're all hoping Duke and Peters have a solid future on the line, but right now that's more wishful thinking than anything else. We'll see. Maybe Gandy really would make a better guard than tackle. Right now, I'd be willing to try anything.

That defensive line is not good, either. Sam is an enigma. I've had enough of Edwards. The Anderson/Bannan monster is a liability. Schobel has some talent, but let's face it, the guy is nothing more than a solid player who can be handled one-on-one by good tackles. Kelsay may continue to improve but he's not even at a Schobel level yet. So we basically have one guy (Sam) who occasionally demands extra help with blocking, but only occasionally. That's a five-on-four matchup that will always favor the offense. Well, unless you're Houston.

We need an impact player on this line, someone who demands double-teaming on a consistent basis. Three of our four defensive guys don't come close. Sam does once in a while. That's not enough.

Sorry for my rambling. Pretty much all been said already.

Sprinkle in a dash of bad coaching and you pretty much have it...

  12. It looks like I may not get to attend a single game this year. On September 3rd my friend and I were in a high speed car accidend that left me with a broken neck, my humorus (upper arm) suffered a major compound fracture, broken ribs, 2 collapsed lungs, and numerous bumps bruises and lacerations. (My friend wasn't so lucky RIP).

My friends sold my tickets to the opener as I was still on life support. When the 11th came (also my birthday) I thought it was the day after the accident and thought I might still make it. It is the first home opener I have missed since 1995.

My recovery has been slow, as my arm bone has not healed due to an infection in the incision. It may be another 6 weeks. I don't have a cast, but a metal plate in my arm holding the upper and lower parts of the bone together, and also am using a bone growth stimulator to promote healing. If the infection doesn't heal soon, I may require surgury on my arm. Possibly 2 of them, one to get at the infection, and another to take bone from my hip to add to the non-union in my arm.

To make matters worse, on Wednesday, I am schedualing a surgury on my neck which will take 6 additional weeks from which to recover.

That means I'll probably have to sell my tix to the Denver game as well.

This might be the first time in 11 years that I won't be able to attend a Bills game. I can't tell you how frustrating that is.

Just needed to vent. I try to keep positive around my friends and family as they are stressed out enough about the whole thing as it is. And considering I lost a good friend in the process, it seems like a petty thing to complain about.

    Anyway, thanks for listening.

    Go Bills!!!
