  1. I think it was pretty optimistic to predict that the checkdown was going to pick up 12 yards. There were two defenders in the area with only Beasley there to block. I think it ends up two on one and down for a 3 - 4 yard gain at best. Meanwhile, Diggs is open and it was doubtful that Josh had the time to get to the checkdown. I am a subscriber and love their analysis but I do think that they too often are overly optimistic on the alternatives Josh passed up or didn't get to and underestimate just how much pressure Josh is under given the weaknesses in the OL.

I usually skip right to the film. The charts are not readable. It would help if they at least had a cursor to point at what they are talking about and what it means,

I enjoy the film review part and find it fascinating. I would pay extra for them to use the word "concept" less than 437 times each show.  Could use a little more humor.

  2. I suppose the day is not far off when we will award the win to the team that had the best statistics rather than the team that had the most points. The correlative proportional inverse relationship between points and a team being "good" lacks the asynchronous synchronicity between the integral truthiness of obscure stats and being good-ish. End the tyranny of real life experience and welcome in the new era where all games are simulated and outcomes statistically determined.

    Blessed be the Madden.

  3. For those of you who might need to adjust your fantasy rosters, I am once again on the double secret inactive list. My understanding is that my lack of experience or discernible skills on special teams or, for that matter, on any other kind of team, weighed heavily against me. I can't help but wonder if the all too common prejudice in professional sports against overweight, micro-lunged, diabetic senior citizens had something to do with my exclusion from the roster.

Based on the numbers put up at the combine/pro days, there is a calculation called RAS that measures a player's athleticism and explosiveness and then it can be compared to see how they stack up against others at their position.

"5" is considered average for their position, with "10" being the most athletic at their position.

Justin Zimmer has the best RAS score in the last 15 years and scored a "10"...ahead of Suh and Donald even.  Dareus came in with a good score of 6.88.

Guess that explains how he tracked down Newton from behind so quickly...

Zimmer's amazing results included a 4.85 40-Yard Dash, a 33.5-inch Vertical Jump, a 7.01 3-Cone Drill and a 9-foot-9 Broad Jump. To top it all off, he also recorded a beastly 44 reps on the Bench Press.

If he was a DE in college, was it fair to compare his numbers to DT's? I mean, if you measured the athleticism of nose tackles and then snuck in a slot corner, it wouldn't be surprising to see better numbers from the little guy. Maybe that is the way you get a truly athletic DT, by bulking up a guy who is quick and well balanced and see if he his can keep that skill even when bulked up to play a beefier position.

Well when other teams coaching staffs come up with a game plan and it doesn’t work they know how to switch it and change things up to make it work

our coaching staff doesn’t know how to do this. It’s why we get out coached in the 2nd half of games.

And yet, these terrible coaches of ours have made it to the playoffs two out of the last three years and , at 6-2, are poised to make it three out of four.  It is a mystery.

So Brady finishing his career with the Pats having won the division EVERY freaking year he played there (IR year not counting) isnt much worse than if we at least won once??? I disagree. Getting shut out is way freaking worse.

Its like saying losing 24 - 0 is the same as losing 20 - 0. That goose egg is much worse imo than at least winning once. Going 0-4 in the superbowl is much worse than if we went 1-4.

Yeah, one win against him in his old age would make all the difference. Some of us are long over obsessing on Brady, some, alas, will never get over it. Sure, its better to finish a season 1-15 than 0-16 but fact is you are still a loser either way. I'm looking forward, not back. I want to beat Pat M. and Lamar Jackson rather than turning back the clock to battles long since fought and, mostly, lost.

  7. I don't feel this to be a big deal either way with regard to Brady. If he had stayed and we beat them and went on to win the division that would not wipe out the years of dominance and endless string of losses the Bills endured throughout his career. It is simply a fact that Brady is one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game and that he beat us like toy drum for years and years. Yeah there was some cheating and lots of help from officials but in the end, he beat us because he was simply better.

The Brady era in the AFC East is over. We can't change history but we can own the future. This game is about the Bills taking a huge step towards winning the division for the first time in years. A quick look at the schedule will tell you that the Patriots have a good chance to gain some ground on the Bills in the second half of the season. Sticking them with another loss this week makes it that much harder for them to mount any kind of comeback. It may not be a stake to the heart of a rotting succubus but it is at least a bucket of holy water in the face of the most unholy Patriots.
