Let's see some consistency before we say Isaiah gives us anythting.

Can't demonstrate consistency on the bench. He has had two games where he played a lot. Miami last year and the Pats last weekend. He produced. Not saying he should replace Beas but he has earned more looks than the occasional jet sweep.

    He will be just fine.

Sure he will. Can't say the same about people with whom he has had any contact.  Some of them may get it from him and some may die from it but hey, as long as Cole is okay then it's all good.

  3. Interfering with and holding receivers on purpose happens all the time in the NFL.  The notion that for it to be "on purpose" the DB has to blatantly tackle the guy makes no sense.  DB's aren't that stupid, they do their best to disguise it but if they are beaten they purposefully take the foul. That is exactly what the Bucs did to Diggs when they grabbed him by the jersey to keep him from getting to that deep ball.  If they will do it with the current penalty (spot of the catch) then they will certainly do it if you reduce the penalty to 15 yards.

I also don't buy for a moment that players would simply be unable to purposefully decide to take a foul because playing football is too "instinctual".  NBA players will take a a foul when it makes sense, soccer players do it all the time.  I can't count how many times I have seen a lineman hold on to a rusher that blew by him to keep him from killing the QB.

The problem with interference calls is that it happens on sooooo many plays and refs aren't going to call it every play.  That means it all comes down to fairly random judgments and a whole lot of chance.  These plays happen downfield far from where most of the refs are located. They can't see everything.  Making the penalty less severe is not going to help.

First of all Mickey the original post never claims any conspiracy theory, it was about an off hand comment I heard on the radio that got me wondering how far the NFL would manipulate the game to chase TV viewership. In my humble opinion, the evolution of the offense friendly rules HAS manipulated the game in that the level of scoring in your typical NFL game is much higher than the 50's, 60's, and 70's and the main purpose was to increase viewership (for the most part I see that as a good thing).

As far as it being satisfying to conjure up an "explanation", I never intended to offer explanations, just voice a question that was raised in my mind after the radio segment. The question is in simple terms; at what point does the NFL turn into the WWE and if the league could or would go there to simply chase increased profits? Hopefully the league wouldn't go there because God knows I've spent more money, time and passion over the last 60 years being a fan.

You can take to the bank my final point, the OP (me) doesn't think that I'm smarter than the rest of the posters in this forum. I'd place myself somewhere in the middle, smarter than some but most assuredly a heck of a lot less intelligent than some. However I do consider myself less of a jerk than most.

Classic conspiracy garbage: "I am not saying this crazy thing is true, I am just asking if this crazy thing could be true. "  To ask is to suggest there are facts enough to make the inquiry worthwhile. What are your facts? Points of emphasis?  Hmmmm....could that be the officials trying to do a better job or is it proof the league is manipulating outcomes, ie, fixing games?  Ridiculous.  Oh but its possible because people are paid well by the league so surely a massive conspiracy could be kept quiet because people are paid to be quiet. Again, ridiculous.  It is discussions like this that turn into rumors and then its off to the disinformation races.  "Hey, you know what, I heard the NFL is fixing games for better ratings, its all rigged, you know, like elections."    Great, just great.

  5. Awesome! I've never had the chance to watch a tin-foil hat conspiracy theory actually hatched in real time.  Proof? Who needs proof when there are all these simultaneous events occurring that the OP doesn't like? They must be related! And how satisfying it must be to conjure up an explanation that links them all on so many levels.  How much smarter is the OP than the rest of us that they could find the clues we all missed and piece them together so masterfully? How comforting it must be to find an explanation for the random, unpredictable and uncertain events that surround us. Suddenly, it all makes sense,

Why is is 750 mil more to build downtown?  Destruction of area?

that 2.1 billion is a worst case scenario in terms of costs and also includes the most expensive options such as a roof, the low end estimate for a downtown stadium was 350 M more than in OP.

  7. I have a friend who is a Tampa fan (I know, I constantly have to re-evaluate this friendship), and they texted me that the Bills were following Tampa's SB blueprint on how to beat the Chiefs. I told them that, no, Tampa was following our blueprint from last year's regular season game. We just didn't have the personnel to make it work. We agreed to disagree.

The thing I hate about this is it seems like people just want to tear someone down for the sake of tearing someone down. Big tree fall hard. Gruden has never had anything said about his views on race or sexual orientation affecting his professionalism.

Look at someone’s actions on how you judge someone, not on their words.

I am not a Gruden fan but this just seemed like a career assassination.

Yes, and the assassin was Jon Gruden. I hope they get that jerk.

I understand how civics work lol. But there are much larger expenditures at pretty much every level of government where no one is demanding public hearings and transparency. Hell, most people have no idea where their money is going but for some reason when it comes to a football stadium everyone's ears perk up.

It's really a selective concern, and when you factor in the impact on the average taxpayer over the life of a potential deal, the discussion doesn't seem quite so notable. Whatever happens, the average person will barely notice that anything has changed with their finances.

There are such hearings over just about everything but we don't notice or care because it doesn't involve football.  Take a minute or two to peruse the NYS Administrative Procedures Act and you'll see that the hearings called for here are not selective in the least.

  10. There is a reason defenses will give you those two yard routes all day, because you won't win a football game that way.  We do not have the horses upfront or in the backfield to have some sort of 1972 style running attack.  Defenses don't need to adjust to a three and out running game.  A little better accuracy on Josh's part, a few less dropped passes and a few less holding calls is all we need.  We are only two games in and one of those was a 35-0 rout. Not exactly time to hit the eject button on the offense that carried us to 13-3 last year.

good point, not only could you lose it at the game, but you could forget to bring it.  Not sure why a picture does not suffice.   Most places that require vaccines accept photos of the card.

I don't see this as any more burdensome then having to remember to have my license with me when I drive a car and it makes sense to me that if pulled over by the police, it wouldn't be enough for me to show them a picture of my license on my cell phone.  Helpful tip: use a binder clip to clip your ticket and your vacc. card together.
