  1. Ok tough guy...and you can stick 0-4 you know where 34-78-83. I think this guy is a stubborn jerk like GW and comments like those prove it. I've never been anti-Malarkey until I read those comments from our winless coach. If you like guys who are incapable of making adjustments then you just might be a moron fan. I remember what it was like to have a coach like Marv Levy. What do we get in return? Excuses and inept offensive game plans going on two years now. I don't have to bow down to these morons because they have the title of head coach. You can, but not me pal.

Jeez 1billz, I meant "plenty around here" as in Trolls, etc... I guess that came out the wrong way. But I still think you're silly trying to base anything on our coach's comments to a media outlet. Did you ever stop to think that they just do this because they have to?

  2.

In Marcus Price's defense, he looks a whole lot better at RT than at LT...

still don't know why he lost his job there this pre-season due to injury. <_<

Umm, probably because the guy playing in there now is better than him.

BTW, You're looking good on our bet Rico  , even if it's more because of record than Play on the field....

  3. Haven't looked at the game a second time yet, but I can't recall a single blown assignment or sack allowed by MW today. As stated he handled Ellis all day. He actually could have done a little better in run blocking today but did ok there as well. No panalties either. For an OL, that's a pretty good game. I know it's more fun to just to lambaste him and think you're smart, but apparently evaluating the play of an offensive lineman is not one of.......................... well let's just say don't quit your day job. ;-)

I will say this though- Jennings had a VERY poor day today in pass protection. Gave up 3 big one's and was dominated one on one. Muy dissapointing.

Selecting Mike Williams at #4 was one of the dumbest moves by a GM in recent football history. McKinnie was there, and he is kicking ass while MW eats.

I dont blame Big Mike. He was already a fat football player.

TD is a flat out loser.

  4. A.S. indeed should have been more disciplined on the snap counts today and that is dissaponitng, but it must also be stated that he was completely dominant against the run today not only making tackles himself, but playing the position like it's written up on the chalkboard. There were numerous plays where, in "string-out" responsibility, he would blow up the play by taking two blockers out of the equation by crashing them together himself, fully knowing he would not make the tackle but cause the tackle. He also had a sack/FF and a couple pressures. The mistakes did come at tough times but I'd atleast hesitate before trading that output for 2 offsides penalties. ;-)

  5. I'm starting to think that maybe he has a problem similar to Travis; i.e. it's possible that he's just dumber'n a chicken ;)

We've definitely had our troubles on 3rddown, but again I'm not convinced the problem is up front. I've seen some nice push and some good lanes in short yardage situations but invariably the back misses teh hole, is late to the LOS, or he picks it up only to have it called back on a phantom hold. That stuff has just killed us 4-5 times late in tight games and is the biggest reason we are 0-3 in my opinion; and oddly enough it has nothing to do with the line failing to execute.

That hold on the FB dive play was laughable :w00t: It's really just not physically possible to hold in that short flash of time on a dive play that nets 2 yards.

  6. I agree with most of your assessment, but I'm still not convinced this o-line is dramatically improved against good edge-rushers, whom we haven't faced yet.  The interior line is better than I expected, and they have improved, but until I see MW and JJ protecting against the speed rushers I won't be convinced.

Also, the line has NOT improved in one other critical area - short-yardage situations when pure strength and determination are needed.  We've failed almost all of those tests so far this season.

That's a good point Tuesday re: the short yardage situations. It almost seems at times like they are too worried about selling the idea or possibility that this next play MAY not be a run. I long to be able to compare our line in this situation to a line that impressed me back in the eighties. The Patriots, yes the Patriots, way back when Craig James was the feature back. They would walk proudly up to the line of scrimmage in 3rd and 1-3, and basically tell you "Ok, we are going to run right here between left Guard and Tackle, and you're simply NOT going to stop us". There was NO threat of a pass play, just sheer will and they fired off the ball as one unit. :w00t:

  7. Good read Simon. The big picture perspective you give is much appreciated here and you probably already know that I am in agreement with most of your thoughts you listed on the individual players such as Reed and Wire, Teague, Bledsoe and others. Regarding Reed specifically, it's really been tough to witness his early season production for 2 years running now. Every year I go to camp and watch him snag everything within 5 feet from all angles and I believe he is going to step forward, but you're right he just seems to have this mental hurdle that doesn't even need to be there. I can't figure out if he reads too much press, is just nervous in the fishbowl that is the NFL, or what... Aiken's time draws near and I believe he is ready for the challenge. Evans has shown enough progress even at this stage to warrant that he reman in at #2. He gets more separation than Price did already, and I think he's a more disciplined player as well. Henry really needs to begin to take his overall role on the team more seriously and get his arse in the filmroom more often. He is such a hardnosed, bruising , present runner that it's a shame he can't also channell his intensity toward his assignments.

Honestly it's nice to just hang out in this thread and get away for a while from the damage control mode that I seem put myself into time after time around here with some of the more extreme absurdities . :w00t:

  8. I agree, stevestojan. Without Teague we are really screwed. But not because of the absence of his play, since we were just as screwed when Teague was playing.

The problem is that now TD, MM, and Co. have yet another excuse to justify playing Drew over JP when our record ends up anywhere between 0-10 and 1-9.

I believe you need a visit from the dead horse beaters club, yup :w00t:

  9. Many have people painted him to be this solid bookend left tackle. You know who you are.

Imo, Jennings is out of position. He is fat, and not terribly athletic. Some great LTs such as Pace, Jones, etc. are able excel with such a gut. Jennings is not.

As hard as it is to get a LT, why did Jennings go in round 3? There HAD to have been a reason. My thinking is that he would have been/was a decent RT.  I don't think he has the agility to be a great LT. He is not all that strong either.

The above is bad enough, but his biggest flaw is the fact that he is all too often injured. I question just how serious some of his injuries were, and how motivated he is as a player.

In 05, he will be a ufa and want 30 million or so. TD, because he is a horse's ass and squandered our 1st round pick (perhaps a #1), will be tempted to give him the cash. That said, put me on record as wanting both of these losers out of town!

Next year, we can go with Price and not lose much. We will probably lose 13 games or so, but if TD is gone, perhaps we will still have an early #1.

Jennings wants to join Peerless in Atlanta. I say goodbye to the over-rated injury prone slacker, and good riddance.

What is this "you know who you are" crap?. I mean seriously. As if to imply that you somehow have proven yourself to be correct on your OPINION? Jennings is an above average tackle who plays equally solid run blocking and pass blocking. He has a tendency to get hurt atleast once every season. These things are well known by most people, expert or not.
