1. Do not look at those trick plays in a vacuum - esp. the reverses.  Yes, they often backfire, but they also tend to keep the D honest for the rest of the game.  Very often the Bills will run an unsuccessful reverse in the first half, and then use motions and fakes for the rest of the game to freeze defenders who now have to play as if they may see the reverse again.  However, like you, I question the timing of some of these play calls - they often occur when we're really driving, and when they backfire they can shift the momentum completely.

    Very well said CT

  2. Not sure if it fell under the radar here but Antonio Brown was signed by the Redskins this week.  He will replace the injured Chad Morton on kick returns.  Danny Smith and Greggy convinced Gibbs to pick him up.

ha! I didn't hear that... Well I suppose everyone gets a second chance.

  3. You are fooling yourself about the time that Bledsoe typically gets.  I think that the key word in your paragraph is "sports bar."  Perhaps, you and your friends have had a few too many beverages before you started counting.

I have spent a lot of time going over sacks on TIVO to determine how much time Bledsoe typically gets between the snap of the ball and the time the play blows up.  In fact, I posted my analysis of after the Raiders game of each sack.

You would be surprised how many times he gets two seconds or less.  And by the way, the goal is four seconds, not three.  Some time ago, I re-posted one of the articles from training camp in which MM emphasized what was expected of the line.  You can google it and find it if you do not believe me.  Four seconds has always been the goal.

I think some people tend to start with "1.......2.......3......4" as soon as the ball is snapped, as opposed to "0.....1......2.....3" which would be the correct way :D

  4. Candidness?  The guy didn't have the sac to state WM was the starter clear cut.  also, Tom Donahoe has attached his entire legacy to this point, to the Bledsoe trade.  Now you tell me...do you REALLY think JP is going to start soon?  :w00t:

    101312

MM clearly did state that WM was the starter, it was the BIlls own media that contrued it otherwise. The Bledsoe trade was a good move at the time he made it. That change will come around soon enough....

  5. Call me stupid...but I just do not believe it.

What's not to believe? The man has mentioned TBD on his show more than once. He's responded personally to many of our emails. He has read our emails on the show. He uses our topics off the board at times. And he has waived on the air when a poster on this board once typed "waive Howard".....

  6. ICE, in reality, as you know already you have absolutley zero insight as to the condition and readiness of JP. There is also no reason to expect that MM is lying to the fans concerning his availablitity, especially based on his candidness he's displayed thus far in his short tenure here.. The trainers and coaches and JP are the only ones who are qualified to say he is ready and considering we have one of the most highly regarded training staffs in the NFL, I think they will declare him ready when he is indeed ready.

  7. Thanks for the kind words Howard and we all wish you the best of luck! You will certanly boost my morning ride in to work as compared to what I was "forced" ( by my own obsessiveness :D ) to listen to until you take over. Do us a favor when you're over there ( and I mean this with respect) and uphold your objectivity regrding the Bills and their endeavors. To me that has been the quality about you that stands out the most. You stay away from both the unrealistically positive, and the petty negative nonsense we are all too familiar with as you discuss the Bills and other topics on your show. You will add nothing but credibility to the team over at WGR! Good luck ....

  8. Stojanovich, why all the vinegar?

Who the !@#$ cares what the guy's credentials are? He provided a service and many of us appreciated it, especially because he was always objective about things. Which can't be said for the other local radio personalities in Buff.

  9. Schobel did "show up" against Ogden, a pretty fair LT is most peoples books last I checked, but one correction is needed, they DO keeps stats on pressures. What made Bruce Smith so impressive wasn't always his raw sack numbers (although they are impressive), but also the huge number of pressures he was credited with as well.  For example, in 1996 he had 13.5 sacks and 54 QB pressures (Bills 1997 Media Guide).

    good point :)

  10. I would agree about Howard and Kevin, but Brads got his thing with Jeremy and I think they do a hell of a job with that.

Puff and Gaughn..... nothing personal, but you both inspire me to turn off my radio each morning at some point EACH morning. Meaning I actually TRY to listen each day, but can't stand it.

What can i say I'm a glutton for punishement.

    99796

    I'm right there with ya!

  11. My problem with this is almost half of his sacks came against a future hall of famer who is still in his prime.

This reminds me of all the people that call in after a game and say "If you take out Willis' 2 24 yard runs and the screen pass and the touchdown, he's no better than Travis"

    ALL THE PLAYS COUNT!!!

    99038

2 sacks and many run stops against the best left tackle in the game CANNOT be disputed.

  12. Duly noted. Thanks, I wasn't aware of that.  It is good that Drew is doing that.  I don't tip my hat much, if any, to Drew... but if this is the case, I'll make an exception and applaud himfor doing the right thing.

One question... what if the Drew gets sacked, say twice in one game and both sacks are his fault.  Do the O linemen still get rewarded?

    99315

    Lol they should :D

  13. yeah, it was classy... and although I'm going to go off topic slightly... I remember a time when QBs and RBs used to lavish their Offensive linemen with gifts or meals or just something in recognition for what they do week in and week out.  Too bad I don't see that from Drew.  The O line is not one of the team's strengths, but damnit, they repeatedly face 8 and 9 man fronts and "cheating up" defenders because of Drew's inability to make quick decisions, correct decisions, and accurate throws.  You would think that Drew would at least throw them a bone once and a while... I mean last week, there were no sacks.  Now, I don't know if Drew did or said something to recognize the O line publicly or behind the scenes, but I would hope that he propped them up a little bit and recognized/rewarded them cuz those guys have taken a lot of heat over the past two seasons.  The recognition stuff goes a long way to building unity and confidence in a team.

So, while you're tipping your hat to Willis... which is deserved, I'm gonna tip my hat to the offensive line... they've got one hell of a cross to bear as long as Drew is at QB.

    99253

Drew gives his linemen each 500$ if he has a game with no sacks. This was verified by AVP. It was mentioned because they gave up 0 sacks this past weekend.

  14. Moulds

Dropsies, can't get separation, watch his routes when he's not the primary receiver, totally uninspired play and now a clubhouse cancer.

Sit his ass down. He's living on his rep.  Maybe a little pine time will wake him up.

It's painfull trying to holdback my beverage from spraying all over my monitor when reading this post.

  15. I actually called in to the MM show last night and asked Mike if, going forward, he would be using a counter action play or two to go along with the ones where they used Bannan pulling to the right. He said that on one occasion in the game, they actually did do that already. I can't remember if he said it was a pass or simply a run to the left but he did confirm that there was one play where Bannan was in and did not pull to the right.

  16. Great, so he's above average before the first game.  Injuries are a HUGE factor with Jennings and severely limit his effectiveness.

    97199

I agree with you. Now we all see the complexity of the situation. If there is a team out there who sees his ability and downplays the injury factor, then we (as ICE suggests) may be able to atleast get something for him by going the franchise route.
