how does he justify Derek Jeter's money as an example of socialism, I am intrugued... The Tax Code in the US is the most manipulative force in existence domestically. The loopholes, the credits, the deductions... all designed and excuted to manipulate your behavior as a citizen. The more I think about, the more a flat tax makes alot of sense. Herman Cain was one of the few candidates that actual proposed a fundamental tax reform plan that took the power away from these politicans and placed it back to the populace. I have Stossels book on my Ipad- pretty excited to read it. -
Fine, I'll be the only one to come and say it.... I'd hit that......

And now you HAVE to buy his policies, or one of his buddies at Aetna or Cigna.... LOLOLOLOL... but I'll take it. My wife had 35,000 in medical bills last month, paying premiums for the last 10 years has been worth it then some.... Only in America could be have such a messy, expensive HC system where private comapines get a capitive audience to bend over with no grease......

Nobody, still, has explained the "Across State Lines" golden wand. Insurance compaines are National, they can do business in any State they wish to do business- they offer plans where they can make money, they don't offer plans where they cannot.... a individual with a history of Childhood cancer can search out plans in every State in the union as an individual, and NOBODY will underwrite coverage prior to the ACA.... now exactly does this fix that issue? Additionally, who do you think will regulate Insurance Compaines if States don't approve their charter to do business.... you guessed, it the Federal Government- basically, you are back to ACA guidlines where the Fed sets the rules. Private Insurance without someone forcing their hand will not by any means take on money losers, ie the sick. Tea Partiers can dance around this fact and yell "freedom" and "liberty" all they want, but Government is going to be more involved in Heathcare than any other sector, simple because we do not have a system that efficiently serves all people who want to particpate in the market. There are some good thoughts in that proposal, I have always been supportive of the HSA increases and deductible plans. Insurance should be about Catastrophic Illness, ie cancer, stroke, heart attack, torn ACLS.... there is just no reason people cannot pay out of pocker for an annual exam, labs, mammogram... they are not that expensive... It interesting when people bring up Automobile Insurance to make a comparison, when was the last time AllState paid for your oil change, brake repairs, tires???? They don't and they only pay for your repairs after your deductible amount is met and there is ALOT of damage. The ACA is a step in the right direction, but it focuses on the wrong actions. Consumer driven healthcare plans with deductibles and tax advataged HSA's are the right direction, unless people want to pay higher premiums for managed care plans that cover everything.

New Taxes, Brought to You by the ACA:
B-Large replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
alot of my income comes from rents collected, I can't imagine I would be thrilled about paying more taxes.... but I am sure there will be negotiated loopholes built in somwhere my accountant will find that will be just up my alley.... -

Has anyone considered, for just a moment, that the ACA may create more jobs that is supopsedly will cause to be lost? 30-40 millions people now buying insurance, is is not possible we will be expansion of healthcare facilites, LTC companies, home health agencies, insurance compaines to keep up with this huge increase in demand and access? Healthcare is one of the few sectors that is steady and growing, has been and continues to be for the last decade, plus. Addtionally, the wages we pay here are relatively high, secretaries making 30+, middle management making 100K or so... Have we also considered how many hungry enterprising folks may be willing to quit that job they have kep because of insurance and finally start that business they were afraid to? -
Am I the only one finds Hillary Clinton ....

Ever since the hard-hittingCouric got a hold of her in that interview, not much has changed in my view- I mean she asked her the really tough questions to.... lol To suggest Sarah Palin is in the same league with people like Ann Coulter or George Will for example is craziness- I find Ann Coulter repugnant most of the time, but she skates intellectual circles around the Mama Grizzly. George Will is one of the most informed, historically astute commentators and conservatives out there... Sorry, Palin is a dope. If she is your best example of "whinning", then so be it I guess..... -

Stole right out from under her- if any time were the Clinton2 time, it was 2008. I'd like to see a solid Republican run in 2016, a guy like John Thune comes to mind- fairly young guy, great rack record, have seen him in interviews a bunch and he is very impressive. -

yeah, Barry even looks way more gray in 3.5 years that I would have expected. people are talking Hillary 2016- I just don't see it, running that campaign at 70 has to be dangerous to ones health..... -

There are some bright, articulate conservative Women out there of whom I respect although I do not agree with all they have to say or their policy positions.... but Sarah Palin is not one of them, sorry..... -

I sure hope that isn't that case, but being around enough heavy drinkers in my time the thought did pop into my head.... if others are thinking the same thing, there may be something to it. -

She doesn't look good. that is not an attack on her personally, she looks tired and that there might be something else going on.... that is not an attack, that is an observation. -

I think Sarah Palin is actually mentally retarded, I mean, the things she says are often absurd... Hillary is a very accomplished, intelligent women who needs to take a break from public service. She continues to look worse as time goes on, I could be wrong up she looks bloated like she has a drinking problem. -
Question: Politically reconcilable, yes or no?

Drilling here in theory makes sense, but that raw product is sold on commdities markets... are you suggesting nationalized drilling by the government exclusively for the miltary? even if it was a private/ govt partnership, how much would the price per barrel have to be to make it worth it for the private end of that partnership versus selling to the highest bidder?

B-Large replied to Juror#8's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I still think we whiffed big time with excluding a Public Option. Why we have to have an insurance company that provides not a LICK of care nor service delivery skim 20% of just about every healthcare dollar is absurd. Heathcare should not have to break the bank, everybody just has to assume accountability for their own risk, ie carry insurance. -
While we don't always agree politically, we can ALWAYS agree a reach-around is just basic courtesy..... I guess if you plan to make a post accusing others of latency, perhaps you should not have a pic of a tranny as your avatar? LOL certainly don't want to be to the engine. they guy at the end of the line-up is not gay, he is just having sex....

A lot of sexual frustration and latent homosexuality around here, but if you have lurked here for years, you already know this

Awww SNAP, Let's Have Us a Party!
B-Large replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
For me, Romney isn't different enough to draw a clear line in the sand. He is going to get hammered over the next few months about big issues like his signing of the Massachusetts healthcare bill, the one he will not even mention now and disowns. He also doesn't want to talk about his records as Governor or at Bain.... so the question will be, will running on Obama record on jobs and the economy work? How are Swing States doing economically, are any that Obama won in 2008 able to be flipped? Will the Dems pose him as this wishy washy silver spooner who is desperate to be PRESIDENT at all costs? Democrats will have the edge on National Security and Healthcare at this point, for Romney he better hope the economcy does not improve significantly. -

Obama is still going to win. He's got a good lock on Women, Latinos, Blacks, and now it looks like Dems are buttering up the elderly. I think it will be close, but Romney just doesn't have the arsenal to beat out Obama in the Swing States he absolutly has to have to win the 270. It will be interesting. Most of my friends are Democrats, and were charged up by the HC ruling yesterday, many donating money whereas before they were ambivilent. I am not giving one red cent to any campaign, but frankly, I don't think either of the policitcal party choices we have right are the answer to the US long-term challenges. -
SCOTUS to rule on Obamacare sometime this week
B-Large replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
In not so many words, yes. If you want leverage, donors get it. The HC system is not egalitarian by any means, and your well-to-do are in the next week while medicaid patients wait for 4-5 months. the ACA does not fix privilage, or fix the fact that some people know how to use their influence to get what they want... -

Medical Care is no different that anything else is life, its who you know and if you have leverage to get stuff done. If you always want and appointment and someone on the inside to grease the gears for you, make a annual donation..... you can always call up your giving contact and ask them for help getting into providers... it works like a charm. I don't make a donation because I work in a Hospital, but that is how you get IN and move to the front of the lines while everybody elese waits.... they poll well as very popular programs.... as for ed and tax code, agree 100%
