Rent an Occupy Protest - $60 a head
B-Large replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It was 1.3, and I thought the WSJ said it would be 1.3 in 2013 with heavy infrastructure spending.... Whoops, could sworn is was FY13 1.3.... Maybe I would be better served reading the article next time.... -
Rent an Occupy Protest - $60 a head

Raising taxes alone will not even come close to bridge the gap on the deficit alone, without making some stark changes to the Big 3. Eventually, every American acorss the board will have to pay more AND will have to make with a reduction in services either now or retirement..... The only way to avoid cuts or tax hikes in very robust growth in perpituity.... but as we see, that is not the case in business cycles or economics..... I think I am going to vote 3rd party, perhaps liberatarian this election cycle. It would be interesting to give a guy like Ron Paul a shot, he is the only one who sounds different as a conservative, and we know Democrats are basically all the same. It depressing, but we constinue to see the obvious problem and do NOTHING. another 1.5 trillion deficit in the budget proposal..... sigh -

are there still protests going on? The banks will continue to screw people over who are stupid.... always has been, never will change.... the answer is don't be stupid. In other news, a 1.5 Trillion dallr deficit in the 2013 budget was propsed.... I guess we will never raise taxes, reform programs or a combination of both, we'll just borrow instead.... you can't write a better story where a train is coming down the tracks and everybody just does nothing.... -
where would we put all the bodies.... I assume you have meandered through the US general populus lately, so you the numbers I am talking about here..... I am aware of a guge population of elderly who gave up years ago and would prefer to just be gone... It is amazing we deny people such things....

So no real difference than a "bait and shoot" of the deer population because starving and disease is not preferrable over euthnazing or productive use? The Denver Dumb Friends League euthanized thousands of animals each year, there are simply not enough homes for all of them..... Maybe we should euthanize the humans who are too stupid/lazy/irresponsible/ingnorant to spay/neuter their pets too?

Dependency Index Surges up 23% Under obama
B-Large replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't think you will, and perhaps that is a symptom of globalization, a nation that has peaked and is starting to decline, and a populus that has a self-fulliling prophecy that revolves around their desire for Cheap. Most of America has a lust and addiction to Cheap- sit in a mall or box store, you will hear more than enough disusssions that reolves around "I want cheap", "what is the cheapest", "I don't care, I want Cheap".... but what I think people don't relize is that they hurt themselves as the load up imported trash from across the globe... How do you gow the economy while helping youself or your neighbor? Buy Local, Demand Local Products, purchase USA. Job created locally, Dollars spend Locally, less money into the hand of Middle Men skimmers like Walmart- you know those greedy compaines that people deried, but can't get to fast enough to buy stuff? If we kept activity HERE, we would not be trying to be Robin Hood's or paint Making Social Programs the Devil- that is just my opinion. and that as well. -

The underlying assumption I get from that article is "social/safety net programs are bad".... however, they continue to be very popular among both politcal affiliations... -

The Heritage Foundation's "Dependecy Index".... I highly doubt that study is biased..... lol Also, the wealth discepensies from between the rich and poor continue to grow, the more we encourage that kind of trend the most people who will not be able to keep up considering flat wages.... -
PETA needs to spend its time and resources exposing and creating awareness of operations that truly abuse animnals. There are plenty of atrocious acts in the Dairy and Beef industry to keep them busy, taking a entity like Sea World to task seems wastful- unless they feel like winning individual protections under law sets precedent to begin going after the industries/individuals that truly abuse animals- Seaworld creates awareness of animals, funds research and the help to rehab hurt animals. Cases like this tend to be why people chose to see PETA as radical.

this is probably why 50% of eligble age voters just don't care to show up to polls....

Taxes, W2s, EICs, and other Ecosystemic Abnormalities
B-Large replied to Juror#8's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I would think the EITC incentivizes a person to work for a paycheck, rather than sit on ther behind and get the same benefit- would you prefer a person working and getting a bunch of tax susidies to pay for their lives OR accept welfare, food stamps, etc. and peform no discernable serice to the economy and society. The Tax Code more than anything is a tool to acheive desired behaviors by citizens- IMHO, that is why it is so convoluted and complicated and thousands of pages long, it provides control by Government over citizens. I don't worry about this stuff, I drop all my stuff on my accountant... that that tired overworked SOB figure out how to let me keep more money. -
Our Government has position that require a Billions dollars to reach election.... a Billions dollars...... If that is any indication that the Federal has too much power, I am not sure what is.....

Santorum On Medical Profits
B-Large replied to Dave_In_Norfolk's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
A few thoughts: 1. Americans are going to have to begin to budget more of their dollars for health care if they want it, and want the best. 2. Profit incentive delivers the best therapies and medicines. 3. Care is rationed in any system, for profit or in Nationalized Care Systems- there is no way around it, unless you are willing to pay the tab in cash and you have unlimited funds 4. There is no detail in the article, but if the kid had insurance and was part of a risk pool she should not have had to out-of-pocket 1M. 5. Healthcare is the single largest liability fiscally for this US. Whether it be the expense of adminstering Government Run Sugle Payor, or Cosumer Driven Private Insurance that takes more money of out of general economic spending, we need to prepare for the coming of the crunch. -
Interesting lawsuit in California against Honda
B-Large replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Of course she is awarded money for not understaning a thing about how MPG estimates are calculated, and of course Honda is liable for following the law. I am sure she will be getting refi-help on her home because it lost value, and that Variable Rate Term Loan she signed is the Banks fault. You simple cannot fix stupid or uniformed.... but you can make it payout for you in court....lol -
Liberals tend to believe in an egalitarian existance, and feel the best way to achieve that is the central lever, also known as Government. In an of itself, it is not a bad belief that all people should have equal access, equal opportunity..... until you consider human nature, then it tends to get very compicated. Owning a Bible or being religious has nothing to do with it, nor does own a firearm.

that picture doesn't get any more interesting as the days pass.....

Biden Says GOP Policies Are Quickest Fix
B-Large replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
duh- mortgages are contracts wiht collateral, when they bust there is a process to deal with them.... foreclosure When people have no more money, or can't pay their bills, there is Bankruptcy.... Why are Foreclosure and Bankruptcy bad words these days? These are in place to protect people from things like debtors prison.... We should have left this to sort itself out in 2007- 2008, let banks fail who suck, let homeowners lose their homes that could not afford to pay for them. -
Nobody ever elaborated on what would have been different had an R been at the helm. Frankly, with residential housing still slugging along and will for a long time, who expects a robust economy? Heck, if basically free money can't fuel a recovery, what will? What new industry is ready to boom and bust??? Housing is done, Tech did a little more than a decade.... 1.7% is still improvement, over say flat or negative.... and if I were a average Citizen, I would be saving my dollars and pay of debt, not out spending... much of middle class America had been hoodwinked in the real estate boom, don't expect anyting less than conservative behavior for a long time... IMHO

The Official Mitt Romney thread
B-Large replied to Dave_In_Norfolk's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That is a fine, fine day- I was handed a check for $25,000 for flipping a condo I bought in 2005- now that was a few months of work, but I had never seen a check that big made out to ME before. 20K in a day is impressive...
