  1. TWEET ELABORATION We could do 800 words on each player, but let’s save it for the offseason and settle for essentially expanded tweets on each guy: 5. Josh Allen: Everything we saw at Wyoming, we’ve seen in Buffalo: fantastic arm strength, sneaky mobility and occasionally erratic ball placement. What we didn’t know is how comfortable Allen would be reading an NFL field. He ran a “pro style” system at Wyoming, but that means less and less as the NFL and college games continue to merge. Though he’s gotten better down the stretch, for much of this season Allen has looked much too wide-eyed.
  2. McDermott's Wednesday Media Day Presser at 11:20 AM ET today followed by practice at 12:30 PM. After practice Josh Allen will meet with the media at the podium with other players being available for locker room interviews. Will post live Twitter and Facebook presser links as they become available: Buffalo Bills Video Live
  3. PFF Week 16 critique of Allen: Allen earned some of his worst grades of the year from the football analytics website: Allen’s numbers are disappointing, but not all that surprising as the Bills were facing the Patriots and Bill Belichick’s defense on the road. No rookie QB has beaten Belichick at home in his long coaching career. Allen, Phillips and Teller will all have one more game to take a final step forward in their rookie season’s in Week 17 as Buffalo concludes their season at home against the Miami Dolphins.
  4. Subscription required for full access: With a Week 16 win over the Bills, the New England Patriots would capture the AFC East. And in a playoff tune-up for them this past Sunday, they did just that, establishing their run game early and often to earn the 24-12 victory. The Patriots, with a banged-up Tom Brady, relied on a run game that mustered just 76 yards on 25 carries against the Bills in Week 8. Buffalo came in confident in their run defense, which ranked in the top ten this season in Football Outsiders DVOA metric — a massive improvement from their 30th ranking in 2017. But numbers don’t decide games, and that showed as the Patriots manhandled the Bills from top to bottom. Let’s jump into the film room to understand how the Patriots rushed for 273 yards and two touchdowns on 47 carries, making it the worst game by the Bills defense on the ground all season. Injuries As the season winds down, injuries to linebacker Matt Milano (broken leg) and cornerback Taron Johnson (shoulder labrum surgery), two of the Bills’ steadiest players all season, had a major impact on this game. Milano was the best player on the field in the first Bills-Patriots matchup and is the most disruptive player on the Bills’ defense. He leads all Bills defenders in stops (37), solo tackles (25) and he is ninth in run stop percentage, per Pro Football Focus. Undrafted rookie linebacker Corey Thompson, whom the Bills promoted from their practice squad in late November, earned more playing time last week in Milano’s absence — and the difference showed.
  5. Jack Adams Award The candidates: Phil Housley, Buffalo; Bill Peters, Calgary; Claude Julien, Montreal; Jon Cooper, Tampa Bay; Mike Babcock, Toronto; Paul Maurice, Winnipeg; Barry Trotz, N.Y. Islanders. My take: What’s funny is that I’m guessing Cooper, Babcock and Maurice actually don’t get a sniff at season’s end even if their teams end up 1-2-3 in the standings. This award is almost exclusively about awarding the coaches on teams which surprised/overachieved. And I mean, how could you not give it to Gerard Gallant a year ago? Of course, he was the logical choice on a historical expansion team. But it’s not like he’s gotten dumb a year later and yet with the Golden Knights no longer the most fanciful story and the team “just” a playoff team, well, watch how Gallant won’t get hardly any votes. And somehow Cooper or Babcock or Maurice aren’t having great years? OK, my rant is over. My pick: In keeping with the spirit of how this award is handed out, hard not to think Housley isn’t your runaway leader right now for coach of the year. And good on him, like his young core of players he, too, came back with lessons learned from last season. The surprising Sabres are as good a story as any in the NHL right now.
  6. The Buffalo Sabres will miss the playoffs this season. -- @bloodfury_96 Wrong. They have a seven-point cushion for a playoff berth now and they have 23 games remaining at home, where they are 12-4-2. The 3-0 win against the Anaheim Ducks at KeyBank Center on Saturday should do wonders for their team psyche, especially after back-to-back regulation losses against the Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals. I'm buying the Sabres as being for real.
  7. Matt Waldman’s RSP Cast No.41: NFC Quarterback Review with Mark Schofield (51:56) I love having Mark Schofield on the show and as the NFL regular season comes to a close, it felt like the right time to have him join me for a conversation about individual quarterback performances. We begin the show talking about Josh Allen but then move to the NFC and cover a lot of ground in the first of this two-parter: What has Josh Allen taught Mark about arm velocity and how he’ll apply it to QB evaluation?

  9. 12-26: ESPN's Todd McShay Talks 2019 NFL Draft Prospects with Howard on WGR (11:57) Topics of discussion included the 1st round being loaded with defensive prospects. Howard asked about positions of interest to the Bills including DL, OT, and WR. At the end of the segment they discussed Josh Allen's rookie season to date and what McShay thinks of him.
  10. 12-26: ESPN's Todd McShay Talks 2019 NFL Draft Prospects with Howard on WGR (11:57) Topics of discussion included the 1st round being loaded with defensive prospects. At the end of the segment they discussed Josh Allen's rookie season to date and what McShay thinks of him. 12-26: Trevor Sikkema with Schopp & Sal on WGR (21:04) .@TampaBayTre joins Schopp & Sal now to talk some 2019 NFL Draft, Josh Allen, and Tyree Jackson! Sikkema - If Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State) declares, you're going to have multiple teams fighting to draft him. Not sure that'll be worth the investment like it was last year. Sikkema on the rookie QBs - It's really been best case scenario. Baker Mayfield has changed the culture in Cleveland. Darnold has been fine. I think he's shown progression. Josh Allen had struggles early on, but he's learned on the fly and rolled with some punches. Sikkema - Josh Rosen is tough. Basically no offensive line in front of him. He shows flashes at times, but it's been a rough year for him. Sikkema - Since Lamar Jackson has taken over, they've built a good offense around him. They'll start to make things a little more complicated for him. Sikkema on LB Josh Allen - This year they had Josh Allen just go off the edge and be a straight pass rusher this year. He was great. I'd hope they wouldn't pass on him just because he has the same name as the QB.
