  1. That is insane......Carroll wants complete authority over personnel....which means A.J. Smith has no job in San Diego....If A.J has to go, then why fire Marty.....

Why is no one giving a shot at Norv Turner...

What do Dennis Green, Norv Turner, and "Mooch" all have in common?

They are all two time losers as HC because they all sucked.

Throw Pansy Pete Carroll on this pile as well.

With all the names being thrown out here, I still think best candidate is Mike Martz, with Mike Sherman being second.

Martz has already taken a team to the SB, so theoretically he knows what it takes to get there.

On this short notice, TC would make a great DC, considering he already knows Wades system.

    As for the OC ..????

  2. It seems like they will have to go for a top notch coach who can pull that ship together.

I mean they are coming off a 14-2 season!!

What proven winners are out there?

    1.Cowher

    2. Parcells

    3. Vermeil

    4. Johnson

    5. Reeves

    6. Levy

    7. Martz (to some degree)

    Anyone else?

Cowher - No, still under contract with Pissburgh. The Squeelers will want some nice compensation to release him

    Parcells - No, he's through

Vermeil - No, same as Parcells

    Johnson - See Parcells

    Reeves - Possible

Levy - He did talk about getting back on the side line - possible

Martz - probably the best bet out of these 7

  3. They can come work for me!!

I happen to like this quote:

"SOUTH Sydney co-owner Russell Crowe last night revealed his club had discarded its cheerleaders this season because they made male fans feel uncomfortable."

That is true. I am getting a little "uncomfortable" sitting here looking at them. Goods news is, it is a curable condition.

  4. Wade got an 8-8 season out of a team that:

a.) Started a QB that never got another starting job

b.) Had a leading rusher with 591 yards

c.) Had an undrafted rookie playing in the 3rd WR spot, in his only real pro action, ever.

d.) Had a tight end who painted his nails before games

And this behavior made the TE a bad player because .........?

e.) Had just lost Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, and Bruce Smith, replacing them with Jonathan Linton, Jeremy McDaniel, and Erik Flowers.

f.) Had just lost one of the best special teams coach because he fired him as a scapegoat for his own failings as a HC (under his regime, the special teams were treated like a red headed step child)

And for all that, he got them to post a top-10 offense, top-3 defense, with Joe Pendry ats his OC.

Offense - top 10 in yardage, but ranked 20th in points scored.

Joe Pendry was Wade's choice, just like the firing of DeHaven and the subsequent hiring of the idiot that replaced DeHaven.

  5. Cannot complain, especially considering about 5 weeks ago, Saban was still the HC of the Miami Dolphins.

    Bama is ranked #10 @ Rivals, #10 @ Emfinger, #17 @ ESPN, and #19 @ Scout.

I expect an improvement on these rankings next year.

I also noted Rivals and Emfinger's top 10 had 7 teams from the SEC.

Looks like the intensity of the SEC will only continue.

  6. I pretty much read most of the opinions on the hiring of Cam Cameron as head coach of the Fins.....typical trashing of Cameron I expected.

But...I do have a question for those of you who have said this hiring is great news for Bills' fans......Is or was there a coach available that in your opinion would NOT BE great news for Bills fans.

Some names mentioned as possible candidates:

    Ron Rivera DC/ Bears

    Brian Schottenheimer OC/Jets

    Jim Mora Jr. HC/Falcons

    Chan Gailey HC/Georgia Tech

    Mike Shula HC/Alabama

    Mike Martz OC/Lions

    Ken Whisenhunt OC/Stillers

    Mike Tomlin DC/Vikings

    Dom Capers DC/Fins

I found it very interesting the Fins offered Capers a BIG $ contract extension to stay with the Fins as their DC, while the man most of you would like to see get the HC job (MEATHEAD) wasn't even considered as the next HC. I have a feeling Mike's days might be numbered in Miami. I think they may keep him to help the offense transition into the new one, but after that....buh bye.

I do believe Cameron's offensive expertise is why he was chosen. The feeble Fin's offense this year was a big deciding factor in who would be the next to lead the Fins.

    Whisenhunt or maybe Martz.

Capers? How many times does this guy have to be a HC before people realize he sucks as a HC

Shula? As a Bills fan, he would have been my second choice for a Dolphins HC, right after Meat Head

Mora? Saban dumps the Dolphins to go back to college, and the Phins interviewed the guy who publicly stated he would jump at the chance to coach his college alma mater, even if it meant leaving the pro team in the middle of a playoff hunt. Wayne must be a masochist

But it will not matter who the HC is. The Dolphins are in chaos.

The play makers on defense are old, and the young starters scare nobody.

Other than Ronnie Brown and maybe Chambers, everybody else on the offensive side can be easily replaced.

That includes Culpepper, who, for lack a of tackful phrase, is :D stupid.

Then on top of that, Cam is not even allowed to pick his own assistants? (Capers contract was extended before Cam signed)

The Dolphins are so screwed. :D

  8. The Patriots are by far the better team with better talent and they had a built a good lead and the Jets were running short on time so hence Pennington had to take more chances. I will tell you this for the first three quarters the Jets looked like Patriots

Too bad for the Jests, football is played for 4 (FOUR) quarters.

i.e. making them earn every yard,

That would be the Jests "defense", and not Chad.

    toughness and determination on Offense,

Chad was damn determined to throw that pick, wasn't he?

not giving up the big play, etc..

Again, that would be the Jests "defense". You seem to have a real problem separating Offense and Defense contributions.

The Jets really scare me. I see them overtaking the Patriots for the division in the coming years.

As long as Chad leads the team, the Jests will not scare me. Chad reminds me of Jay Fielder.

  9. I did a google search for "jackass football" and did find a photo of T.O. but not Vick.

Speaking of "jackass football", here is an interesting scenario:

Petrino and the Falcons trade Vick to Miami for a 1st round pick, two hours before the Dolphins announce Jim Mora, Jr. as their new HC.

I can already see the national press when that happens:

    "Dolphins Super Bowl XLII Bound"

  10. Found this *profound* statement on a Phin fan baord:

(Nick, good luck looking a recruit and/or his parents in the eye and persuading them that: (1) you'll be the coach at Alabama for their son's full career there; (2) their son will be a starter; and/or (3) their son will be better prepared to play in the NFL if he plays for Alabama.)

Saban has not even begun recruiting, and already is having an impact:

this propspect was leaning towards Florida:

    http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=14&p=8&am...amp;nid=2363670

    but now:

"He (Sidell) was thinking about not even visiting Alabama, but now you have to look at Alabama hard again," says the father of McGill-Toolen defensive end Sidell Corley. "If you're a recruit in this state or in the southeast, or if you want to play in the SEC, you need to give Alabama a very serious look. Saban changes everything."

this prospect is undecided between Auburn, Miami, or Bama:

    http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&am...amp;nid=2482143

    and now:

"Auburn has a good program and Miami will land on their feet with Coach [Randy] Shannon," says Hoover blue-chip defensive tackle Kerry Murphy. "But Nick Saban at Alabama kind of blows it out of the water."

It sure looks like Saban is going to have a hard time recruiting.

    Link for quotes

As for their sons being "better prepared to play in the NFL", may I suggest

    DT - Kyle Williams

I had some pity for Dolphin fans considering what had happened, but now, the best thing that this country could do is cut off South Florida and boot the damn thing towards Havana. They would not notice the difference anyways.

  11. I caught him on Mike n Mike (ESPN) this morning. Assuming that's what everyone's referring to, he was openly bitter about how Alabama treated his son. AL is just coming off NCAA probations and scholarship restrictions and DS said next season would be the first season Mike could compete in the SEC "on a level playing field").

Complete and utter Bull****. Scholarship restrictions were removed two years ago.

  12. you may be right ......it could be a bad thing....if the dolphins hire bill cowher as a head coach he would likely keep mike mularky as his offensive coordinator and keep dom capers as the defensive coordinator.they both were coach cowhers coordinators in pittsburgh and even with all of mikes gadgets i bet coach chin would rein him in a little.i can see the 3 of them working together no problem.go bills in"07 and lets hope for a 3-13 season for the fish!

The chance of them getting Cowher are slim. Cowher is still under contract for the Steelers for the next year. Miami would have to compensate Pittsburgh to gain Cowher's service, and I do not think Pittsburgh will let Cowher go cheap.

If I remeber correctly, Oakland got at least 1 if not 2 first round picks from Tampa Bay for Gruden.

Talent wise, Tampa Bay was in far better shape than Miami is now. The Dolphins cannot afford to lose any draft picks.

  13. It says their bringing back Mike Shula as Offencive coordinator, cool!

I saw the one where the poster wanted Mike Shula as HC, and listed the reasons why:

    "+ Good offensive mind

+ Tight with the Shula tradition

    + Knows the game "

Yeah, go ahead hire Mikey, feel the Shula "experience" .

    It feels like this

  14. Dubose... but then again, I'm guessing you don't miss him all that much. ;)

At the time, I remember hearing rumors that Stallings' retirement wasn't entirely his idea; neither was Franchione's departure. And didn't Curry get a brick thrown through his office window after losing to Auburn?

Christ, how could I forget the guy that was caught shagging his secretary.

(Maybe subconsciously I do want to forget him)

Franchione - He just flat left. Bama was about to get slapped with NCAA sanctions, and Texas A & M had just built or was finishing building new facilities that came equipped with a fatter contract for the new HC. Plus, Paul Bryant, Jr. (a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Alabama) told Fran that if he got on a plane for College Station, Texas, he better never step foot in Tuscaloosa again. That sounds like they wanted Dennis to stay.

Stallings - I doubt he was forced. He was the second coming of Bear Bryant. :D

Curry - Pfft. Brick, shmick. What's a little rough house among friends.

So some people got upset he lost three straight to Aw-Barn. Bama was still offering a new contract to stay.

  15. Crazy if he does. Nothing less than the second coming of Bear Bryant will be good enough for Tide Nation. See: Ray Perkins, Bill Curry, Gene Stallings, etc. ...

    Not!

Ray Perkins went back to NFL (Tampa Bay)

Bill Curry resigned and signed with Kentucky because he didn't like the new contract being offered

Gene Stallings could have stayed as long as he wanted, but chose to retire

Dennis Franchione left to go coach Texas A & M (he's still there)

Mike Price was fired because he was an imbecile with a drinking problem, and had a thing for strippers (he just did not know what to do with them)

Mike Shula was fired because he sucked.

    Am I missing anybody?

  16. *Ahem*

My desire would be for Saban to take the Bama job, and for Wayne to promote Mularkey as HC. Now, many think thatwould never happen, but we are talking about an owner that gave the HC job to Wanny after JJ left.

But, if does turn down the Bama, I hope he stays in Miami for a very lo-o-o-o-o-o-ng time.

Saban is a great college coach, but one suck ass NFL coach.
