I got home later that night with my busted car and no money with the expectation that I had now 2 weeks worth of pay heading my way. That was 3 weeks ago and my boss won't answer any of my calls, to his house line or cell phone. I have no car and no money at this point and it's hard to find a job with no car in Palm Beach county. The nearest bus stop is 9 miles away and starting Tomorrow that will be my only hope to get out of this mess. My question is this: Do I have any recourse since I was being paid off the books? Or am I just completely screwed? I can't even go grocery shopping for me and my 8 year old. Things are getting bad, it's one thing to lose a job but when that job has claimed your only source of transportation then well, I don't know anymore. I'm loosing it here folks and any advice is welcome.
Yes, you have recourse, and no, you are not completely screwed. You work, you expect to get paid. Doing it under the table means nothing.
Forget about any "revenge". Right now, he owes you 2 weeks worth of pay. You start busting him up, or any of his property, and you could end up owing him money, or worse, in jail.
The best revenge is legal revenge. If after a face to face meeting he still refuses to pay, sue (small claims court).
And if you really want to be a dick, call the state dept of labor.
State dept of labor: tell them you have not received your pay, and you have not gotten any pay stubs.
As a last resort, call the IRS. This option will not get you your money, but it will make your boss's life miserable.
WARNING: calling the IRS informs them you have received an income. They will expect payroll taxes. For the IRS, it will come down to WHO will pay those taxes to them. As an employee, your employer is responsible to pay those taxes for you (usually). As a self employed person, you are responsible. The trick is getting the IRS to believe you are an employee, and any money you received was 'net' income (income after taxes). If you can do that, the IRS will become very interested in why your boss did not send in any payroll taxes for you for the past 3 months. And they will want that money.

Hey folks,
I was at the game. here is what I saw:
1.) Dolphins attacking a weakness IMMEDIATELY - T McGee. T McGee healthy, he plays much better vs T Ginn.
2.) T McGee healthy, we wont need to support the pass with so many players, directly helping the run defense and play action pass defense.
3.) what are you going to do, T Edwards had some bad plays. It happens.
4.) I watched the game. Outside of one of the most important plays of the game, the safety, SORRY FOLKS, Porter was shut down all day long. he got his sack because:
a.) Melvin Fowler came in for Duke
b.) It was obvious that the blocking call was not correctly picked up both Peters and Dockery.
You all will be like, who is this guy, but, remove those mistakes and give us a healthy T McGee, we win.
OH BTW, remember the screen pass Marshawn dropped???? that would have been a touchdown. I sat 28 rows up and it happened right in front of me. IT WAS THERE...................................................
End of the day, the team played a bad game. JETS SMACK DOWN IS COMING ON SUNDAY.
Side Note:
Not to be an !@#$, but do you make it a habit of going to the games and NOT watching them?

The guy is a mystery to me also. He did a real good job at Stanford. That's a tough place to win because of the academic standards. He ran a clean program and took them to a Rose Bowl. I thought he got a raw deal at ND,but looking at his record since, maybe not. I know a kid that played for him at Washington and he had nothing but good things to say about him as a coach and a man. The only criticism I've ever heard of him is he takes himself really serious, maybe needs to loosen up just a bit. I'd like to see him get another shot somewhere, maybe a smaller program. He seems like the kind of coach that may do well at an academic 1-AA program.
UB after they lose Turner?
Edit: Yes, I realize UB is not 1-AA, but if I understand their position, UB has no intentions of competing with the big buys (ala Penn St., Syracuse, etc ...) as they are more focused on the academics.

Tell me, how is Jauron any more of a head coach than Haslett? And don't say because Haslett is an interim coach because they are doing the exact same job with the exact same goal.
This is not a hard concept.
When Jauron was hired, Dick went through an interview process.
Haslett did not.

Holy crap! The boards gone back to 1950!!
Yes! "Separate but Equal", McCarthyism, pre-feminism, ...
What "Amerika" was like before the commie libs and the activist judges started giving away god fearing white man's rights like candy ...

I was referring to the trajectory of his deep balls Trent doesnt lob bombs or at least he hasnt yet. He throws his deep balls on a line.
Kelly was tough. Trent took a huge pounding at stanford. He proved hes tough QB. But i agree that he hasnt had the opportunity to prove his toughness in the NFL.
In no way am I saying that trent edwards is already as good as those hall of famers. But the question was who does trent most remind you of. So I threw some of trents characteristics that remind of some HOF qbs.
Hopefully, he only gets better.
Kelly took a huge pounding in the USFL running the Run 'n Shoot. Never lost playing time. Heck, Kelly suffered a concussion and continued playing.
To compare Edward's toughness to Kelly is absurd. Right now, Edward is looking more like Chris Chandler.
Let's hope his past injuries are the exceptions, and not the rule.

And some people thought I was nuts when I predicted this win nearly two weeks ago.
Defense wins championships.
-
A. Joe Ferguson
B. Vince Ferragamo
C. Frank Reich
D. Trent Edwards
Answer: D
If he continues to progress, he'll make a name for himself. In the future, we will not compare Edwards to anybody else, everybody else will be compared to Trent Edwards.

anyone know where I can listen to it on the net?
Broadcasting from cell phones. Audio is choppy.

You Penn State fans ... yeesh. No confidence in your team going into the game vs Michigan. How do you feel now?
Congrats on the W against Mich. Now, stroll into the Shoe, drop 50+, 40+, 30+, 20+, heck, just win and make my prediction true.

This is the game that could most likely prove to be a stumbling block. I know their offense has stunk up the joint this year, but Auburn and Alabama is always a dog fight. Always.
Nothing is written in stone until the game is played, especially between bitter rivals.
However, of the 5 teams I listed, Auburn is the least of Bama's concern IMO. I expect Tenn to put up a bigger fight.
I have no idea of what you know regarding Auburns problems, but Auburn's offensive woes run much deeper than a mere learning curve. The problem is coaching and/or higher, and is threatening to put the entire program in chaos.
Recent events have put the Tigers stuck between a rock and a hard place. Tuberville says he is committed to the spread offense, but the only guy on Auburn's staff that had implemented and ran such an offense was Franklin, and Franklin got shown the door. If Tuberville continues trying to incorporate the spread, Auburn's offense will continue to be pathetic, and there is a real chance the Tigers could go 1-4 down the stretch with no bowl appearance of any kind. Certain people in lower AL will NOT be happy.
On the other hand, if Auburn returns to some type of power running team, they increase their chance of winning games and a bowl appearance. However, doing that risks losing the recruits Tuberville has already gotten commitments from. As it is, based on the recent events, there has already been a handful of Auburn recruits publicly declaring they are no longer fully committed to Auburn and will look at other options. One of them, DE Montez Robinson, is now being wooed by Bama. If Auburn starts losing recruits to Bama: Certain people in lower AL will NOT be happy.
Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

1. West coast team travels cross-country to play a 10am game against an up-start team that is 4-1 and fresh off a bye.
2. Coach Jauron is a great game-planner and has had two weeks to prepare.
3. After two road games and a bye, rabid fans hungry for a home game will rock the building.
4. The return of Trent and Roscoe.
5. Chargers have the 31st ranked pass defense.
6. Our pass defense is ranked 8th, which is good going up against Rivers.
7. LT is still hobbled and hurtin.
8. We're still number one in the NFL on 3rd down defense.
9. Norv Turner is their HC.
Spliced a couple of posts together, and did some editing. Key points are in bold.
The Bills can pull out a victory here. Let's not give up.

There's a need to get a better starter than Ellison on the field, but there's no need to cut him or get rid of him. Ellison is a solid backup LB/coverage LB. And for a 6th round pick, i'll take that in any draft.
Sorry. I was not trying to imply they should get rid of the guy, but they would be looking to replace Ellison in the starting line up with somebody else. Ellison is clearly a back up LB, and to call him a "starter" in order to promote the idea a certain draft was good is dubious.
-
Ellison, Simpson, Kyle Williams, and to a certain degree Butler are fringe starters at best. I'd argue that Youboty is the best of the bunch, aside from Donte of course.
Of course, claiming Ellison is a "starter" is a stretch to begin with. If it was not for Crowell's surgery/non-surgery, and subsequent placement on IR, Ellison is riding the bench this year. At this point, I think it's obvious Ellison is on the short list to be replaced this upcoming off-season.

Some people will never be able to be reached. I don't see how anyone can blame any problems from the Donahoe era on this front office. If the guy who had your job before you at work really sucked should you be blamed for his mistakes?
Tell that to a customer standing in front of you complaining your company failed to honor it's service contract or sold him a faulty product. Do you think he really cares which employees fault it was?

I wouldnt put it past either saban or petrino to bolt for auburn. Both are classless pieces of trash and despicable lying scumbag humans.
Temper, temper, Ramius. The FSU "Return to Glory" is not happening fast enough for you?
You're clueless if you think Saban will leave Bama for Auburn. Auburn cannot match the recruiting clout Alabama brings to the table. Besides, the financial aspects alone pretty much rule that option out. There are a lot of other coaches they could get for cheaper.
As for fisher, he's got a guarantee that he'll be the next coach at FSU by the end of the 2010 or 2011 (i can't remember which) season in his contract. If that time comes and goes, FSU owes him 2.5 mil i believe. If Fisher bolts before then, he owes FSU the same amount.Tuberville has a $6m buyout clause. If Auburn does part ways with Tubby, and becomes seriously interested in Fisher, I doubt another $2.5m will get in their way.
Look on the bright side, if that does happen, Tuberville will be available.
-
And then there was one.
And FSU better hurry. A bigger portion of the Auburn world is getting pissed off with Tuberville. Apparently, questions regarding job security have been asked during interviews.
Some of the replacement names being tossed about in the delusional minds of Auburn fans:
Butch Davis
Brian Kelly
Dennis Francione (sp)

Bill Cowher
Lane Kiffin
Nick Saban

Bobby Petrino

Jimbo Fisher

50 points, that part was out there! Bama is pretty good! What was he drinking?
The Mizzou Kool-Aid, heavily sweetened with UB, Nevada, and Nebraska.
Both Gordio and I tried to warn him, but he did not want to listen.

Follow college football long enough and you learn that the natural order of things lasts until next the next game.
If you want in the BCS and you have to lose a game, do it early (USC and Florida) not late.
Missouri took a pounding in the polls for their loss.
USC and Florida look primed to climb back up the rankings. Florida and Alabama are headed for a classic.
The potential of having Bama in the SEC CG is a nice thought. However, I would rather not think that far ahead.
Bama still has to play Ole Miss, Miss St, Tenn, LSU, and Auburn.
Ole Miss and Miss St are not great teams, but are being coached by Nutt and Croom. While those two screw balls can make some of the stupidest football decisions known to mankind, both can motivate their teams and spoil the plans of their better opponents (see Ole Miss vs Florida, and Miss St vs Vandy)
LSU got buried by Florida, but is still only 1 game behind the SEC West leader Alabama. If LSU were to run the table from here out, LSU makes the CG. And do not think that is impossible. 4 of their last 6 are at home, and that includes the game vs. Bama.
While I like Bama's chances vs. Tenn and Auburn, both schools are Alabama's biggest rivals. Anything can happen.
-
You are sounding a little like Stl Bills!
Maybe. But then again I'm not saying Penn St is going to stroll into Columbus and drop 50+ points on the Buckeyes.
Penn St is playing good ball, and IMO, when the dust settles in the Shoe, Penn St will walk out with the "W".
As for the score of the game, who scores what, and whether or not the spread is covered, that's for y'all to figure out.
-
Penn St still has not played anyone. Wisky stinks. Where do they play Ohio St this year? I have a feeling that game is going to have national implications for both teams. Isnt college football great!!!!!!
IIRC, at the Shoe in Columbus.
Too bad for the Buckeyes, it will not matter.

I thought you were a bama fan???? No team has a more impressive resume then Alabama right now. The only other team that could come close is Texas. It should be Bama #1, Texas #2, Penn St #3. & you know what, I would take USC over any one of those teams on a neutral field right now. This is going to be alot of fun the next few months.
I am a Bama fan. I am not allowed to be objective? My opinion is not intended to be an insult to Bama, but it is more of an observation of the characteristics of the polls. How many times have we seen teams that were idle get leap frogged in the rankings? I am not saying Penn St SHOULD be #2, but based on the present evidence (Bama idle, Penn St. 7-0, wins big in Madison) I would have not been surprised if they were.
Now, as for me personally wanting Bama to be #3, that is more of a strategic thought. Bama still has 6 games left, and they are a young team. My biggest fear is some of the freshman get caught up in the hype, and allow it to inflate their ego. That would make them ripe for the picking for a team like Ole Miss or Miss St. A loss to one of those teams, and Bama could kiss a NC goodbye.
-
As a Penn State fan I am VERY pleased so far but at this point I do not see how you can put the Lions ahead of Alabama.
Why not? Bama sat out this week, and that has a tendency to work against the team on how it's ranked.
Penn State is now 7-0, and they got the last one by walking into Madison, WI, and blowing out the Badgers.
-
1. Alabama
2. Texas
3. Penn State
4. Texas Tech
5. USC
The CBS commentators of tonight's Florida-LSU game mentioned the potential top 3 makes it sound like the 1960's again.
It did'nt take long for USC to get back in the picture again.

Please pollsters, have BYU leapfrog USC!!! Maybe the pollsters will be merciful to Oklahoma and only drop the Sooners to 5.
Actually, I would not be surprised to see Texas and Penn State ranked above Bama. In fact, I hope both teams end up that way. Still too early in the season to be #1. That just puts a big fat target on the teams back.
I agree with you about about BYU. They should definitely be ahead of USC.
The biggest joke is/was Auburn. How does a 4-2 team who beat teams like Miss. St and Tenn with scores like 3-2 and 14-13 even deserve to be in the top 25? Over teams like NC, Mich St, and even Wake Forest?
I suppose with this newest loss to Arky, Auburn will drop to 25.
