  1. I read about that. I think I have the game on DVR, I'm interested to see how that went down. Auburn wasn't supposed to be a power offense this year, but 3 points against Miss? Strange.

I watched the second half of that game. It had to be the two worst offenses I have ever seen. The 2007 Bills offense would have been an improvement for either team.

Auburns version of the spread option (a.k.a "War Damn Chicken") turns out is just as good as Borges WCO. Some Barners are denial, claiming it will take awhile for the full offense to be implemented. Interesting spin considering the Spread Option is supposed to be one of the EASIEST offenses to learn (Hint: You have to have TALENT, which AU is lacking on the offensive side of the ball). The most telling sign was Auburn had the ball 1st down and goal at the MSU 7, and tried to run three straight running plays. They never had a chance. They even missed the field goal attempt.

As bad as Auburn's offense was, MSU was even worse. The MSU QB played scared. He made bad decisions, poor throws, and just looked like he was in a state of panic anytime he dropped back to pass.

  2. I think there are a couple of reasons the media types don't pay much attention to the bills.

    1. They have no players at the most visible positions (QB, RB, WR) that stand out for good or bad.

    2. They haven't made the playoffs for a long time. so every automatically assumes at the beginning of the end that they are not that good.

    3. They are in a small market. Radio and TV is a business and they have to appeal to the mass market therefore the smaller market teams are not going to be covered as much.

That's it in a nutshell. Until the Bills prove they are for real CONSISTENTLY (i.e more than just a handful of games a season), keep expecting to receive "no respect". As someone else said. Why do people even bother looking for stupid  like this.

As long the Bills keep winning, it will come.

Otherwise, let it roll, and enjoy.

  3. I know, this is F'n Bullsh.. I passed a gas station (here in Charlotte) this morning and gas was 3.69. In the afternoon it was 4.29. Long lines everywhere. I paid $4.09 close to my house and just had to wait for 1 person in front of me. The thing that gets me is that the gas has already been paid for, so the stations are just gauging. Crude oil has not been lower since April. When a barrel of oil goes UP, gas prices go UP. But when oil goes DOWN, the price of gas doesn't respond at the same rate!!! THIS IS F"N BULLSH... The american public is literally being "bent over the barrel" and something has to be done about it. Speculators raise the price of oil based on disruptions of supply so the price increases YET DISRUPTIONS IN THE SUPPLY NEVER OCCUR. More Bull :nana:.

The other problem which SHOULD BE NONEXISTANT is refining capacity. We haven't built a refinery in this country in 30 years. We know we need them, but all of the tree huggers insist "not in my backyard". On a daily basis,we do not refine enough crude oil into gasoline to meet that 1 days supply in this country. We actually import 15 million barrels of gasoline a day to meet our demand. I think that is outrageous for a supposed 1st world superpower. (1)Let's build some refineries, (2)drill for oil here, (3)build more nuclear power plants, (4)find a way to reduce our dependency on oil, AND STOP (5)ALLOWING BIG OIL TO :nana: us in the  !!!

Country has "x" amount of resources.

We do 1 and 2, we will never do 4, and you might as well get used to 5.

Instead of doing 1 and 2, let's bite the bullet now, and do 3 and 4. Then 5 will be a rarity.

  4. Completely agree. The Bills as a team and a coaching staff played even better than I thought they would against a solid team. And the fact that the Seahawks had a couple of injuries doesn't lessen what Buffalo did to them. The offense was not predictable. I think we may have thrown on more first downs in this game than we did all last season. But seriously, those people who said that Jauron was a terrible coach are finding out that if he is given the right talent he can make things happen. eball is right on with that comment.

I bet Bears fans in Chicago were saying the same thing in 2001.

Bottom line: it is one game in a season that is looking like the ball will be bouncing the Bills way.

  5. I predicted the Bills will be 5-0 at the bye......... Are you still laughing?

I also predicted Buffalo would win the AFC EAST....... How impossible does that sound now?

I told you Peters would report at the last possible date without sacrificing a game check......... Was there really any doubt?

Some of you called me a big homer, and I needed stop the foolishness......really, was I really being a homer or are you just a tad negative?

Sure it only one game but things are looking pretty good!

WHAT A GREAT DAY TO BE A HOMER.....SEE YOU NEXT WEEK AFTER THE BILLS BEAT JACKSONVILLE (lol)

You can either join me......or regret it later!

    Its your choice! (lol)

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

  6. because we have a young team and he's a good teacher? i dont know

i think we are all well aware of the millions of variables and different factors that make up the final win-loss record.

basing his job security simply on the number of wins, right now, isnt even really worth discussing

It is not? Funny, during the offseason, I could have sworn I read / heard where Jauron said this was a performance based business, even for him. That meant playoffs. In fact, he mentioned the word "playoffs".

Hold him to his word. Excuse time is over: a non-playoff season is unacceptable, and should result in his immediate firing.

If he cannot lead this team to at least a winning record (9-7 or better) with this soft schedule, then he has no damn business being a head coach.

Unfortunately, I think if the Bills go 8-8, Jauron will blow enough smoke up Ralphs a$$ to keep his job. The Jauron apologists will be out in force trying explain to everybody how it is not Dicks fault, because the tooth fairy was out to "get" Dick.

  7. I think that once you report to camp and practice, you cannot be put on the PUP list, although I believe there are two of them.

So, if I read that correctly:

There is only one "PUP" list. Before and during TC, it is an "active" list.

Once the 53 man roster is set, it becomes a "reserve" list.

And in order to be on the reserve list, the player must have been on the active list.

Well, that sucks, and you are right. It still would not have mattered in Crowell's case.

  8. Stated for the 3rd time (albeit in different language), if he hadn't had the surgery yet and was seeking a second opinion and could still play and contribute, why would they place him on I.R.?

As stated before, they could have simply said "Angelo, if you have the surgery we will I.R. you. It's your choice."

    Something else I have not seen asked;

Could not the Bills put AC on the PUP list? That would have sidelined AC for 6 weeks, and gave the Bills a roster spot.

  9. - Didn't see the game, but Turner Gill is a godsend for Buffalo. That said, I can't see him sticking around too long

    - Syracuse is downright horrible. Robinson should not have a job coaching college football

    - I think if Cuse could get Gill, they could slowly regain a place among the top of the Big East. Not sure it's a job he'd want, but continuing in a familiar recruiting area, in a school that still has some lingering prestige (barely), in the smallest major conference....might be a good stepping stone.

Interestingly enough, when Bama was looking for a coach a couple of years back, Turner Gill's name popped up as one of those "not likely to happen, but he is a coach on the rise and is somebody to keep an eye on" possibility. If a school like Bama has eyed him up, there are probably a lot of Syracuse type schools that have their sights set on him. Within two years, UB will be looking for a new coach. They better enjoy Gill while they got him.

I also agree with your point about Gill and Syracuse. If Syracuse landed Gill and gave Gill the proper resources to go recruit, Syracuse could make some serious noise in the weak Big East.

    - I think the ACC is all alone at the bottom of the major conferences...and it's not even close. Outside of Miami, who has a solid coach and incredible recruiting, nobody is even heading in the right direction (I'm willing to give BC a big ?, but I'm not optimistic).

I guess that depends if you consider the Big East a major conference or not. But yeah, across the board, the ACC is looking pretty weak. As an AJC article suggested, maybe the ACC should stick to basketball.

After my initial giddiness of the beating Bama gave Clemson wore off, I have subdued my outlook of Bama this year. Clearly, Clemson was grossly over-hyped. The beating they took just revealed the truth.

    - We'll see how they do this season, but I think Spurrier lost his touch during his vacation from college football. They've recruited too much talent over the past few years to be playing such sloppy football.

I do not know if Spurrier has lost his touch, or is just facing stiffer competition. The competition in the SEC has improved dramatically since Spurrier last coached in Gainesville.

    - I realize how deep my hatred for Miami (dolphins) goes when I get a kick out of Pitt losing for no apparent reason other than Wannstedt being the coach. Great quote: "It would have been nice to get a touchdown but, you know, we follow the leader," McCoy said of Wannstedt.

    - I think for the first time in a couple years the SEC has competition for top conference. The Big 12 looks GOOD. It's still like comparing Usain Bolt to the reset of the field, but hey, at least there's a field.

    - I am impressed with what Harbaugh is doing at Stanford. Still a ways away, but that team is disciplined, well coached, and has some talented guys playing very well together. They are the anti-Syracuse.

    - USC looks great again, but I think they lose at least 1 game this year. I don't think there is another team out there that gets more fear out of opponents based on pure reputation. You can see opposing players practically shaking in their cleats as they line up on the field.

    - Michigan looked a lot better than I thought they would given the circumstances. Obviously they need to get a running game going, but given damn near every bit of their top talent is gone on top of the whole coach and scheme change thing, they looked decent. I figure it'll take RR about 4 or 5 years to be consistent threat to Ohio St. to win the Big 10, but in the mean time I don't think they will be quite so down and out as I thought they would.(BTW, did anyone else see that play where the whole O-line didn't move? Very weird.)

I hope Rich Rod screws up Mee-sh*ttty-gan to the point it takes decades for UM to recover.

    - Congrats to JoPa for tying the games won record. Now, lets not hear about this again until at least one of these guys retires.

I hope Paterno coaches for another 10 years. That will continue making Bowden a thorn in the side of the FSU program for years.

  10. God I miss Buffalo pizza. I mean...I've been to out of the way hole in the walls on the outskirts of the suburbs and the pizza was still phenomenal..-One of the wonderful things about coming back to Buffalo for visits.

Not to bring up old wounds, but when the Sabres were playing Dallas for the Stanley Cup, USA Today had sent out a reporter to do background, cultural stories on the two cities. Apparently, the writer went to Dallas first. I read his story about Buffalo, and in the story, the writer mentioned being able to buy better tasting pizza from a vendor on a street corner in Buffalo than he could find anywhere in Dallas.

  11. ok let me slow this down for ya...i take his opinion, not because hes an expert, but because he is a HOF coach who coached 2 HOF qb's, durrr.... like i said and i'll say again, he may be wrong, because hes no expert.

If you think that being a QB, and having bill walsh talk highly of your skills is the same as having mel kiper toot your horn,

then i dont know what to tell ya

Let me slow it down for you, since you are unable to grasp the concepts of comprehension, analyzing and facts.

If you had bother to read the whole thread, you would have learned what the HOF SB winning genius of a coach named Walsh felt about the following QBs:

He originally did not like Joe Montana, and in fact preferred Fuller and Dils over Joe.

He liked Rick Mirer, Joey Harrington, David Carr, and Steve Young.

He liked Jake Plummer so much he actually referred to Plummer as the next Joe Montana, including winning multiple SB.

Walsh was originally wrong about Joe Montana.

Walsh was correct about Steve Young.

Walsh was wrong about Rick Mirer.

Walsh was wrong about Joey Harrington.

Walsh was wrong about David Carr.

Walsh was wrong about Jake Plummer.

That makes Walsh's record 1 out of 6, or about 16%. This is the record of the guy whose opinion you value.

If you cannot see that the facts say Walsh's opinion regarding QB's is about as valid as Kipers, then I do not what to tell you.

Here a little factoid to chew on: If the 49ers did not trade for OJ Simpson, Walsh and company would still have had their first round pick. Walsh would have grabbed Steve Fuller instead of Montana. And 25+ years later, nobody would gave a crap what Walsh said about a QB.

  12. Talk about a contradiction.

    You state the following:

i dont get the point ....walsh coached 2 of the greatest qb's of all time, there is not a "expert" alive when it comes to evaluating a college qb, brady and montana woulda went 1st overall.

And then you follow up with this:

Is walsh gonna be right in his assesment of edwards? i dont think he said he would be a HOFer.

So if one of the greatest coaches of all time(who coached 2 HOF qb's) says edwards is a smart kid who gets it, im gonna take his word for it until proven wrong(which may happen)

You do realize Walsh made those comments about Edwards well before Edwards stepped on the football field as a pro?

So how in the world can you take the opinion of someone regarding a college QB and treat that opinion like it came from an "expert", when by your very own admission such an "expert" does not exist?

  13. I did not miss the point.

I was responding to a post that took issue with my statement that Walsh was correct a lot more than he was wrong.

So, based on what you have seen, was Walsh more right or wrong on evaluating QBs?

I think that three super bowl wins would demonstrate to even the most cynical (pun intended) people that Bill Walsh knew football.

One of the reasons I am so cynical is because of statements like that.

Walsh was a good/great coach, no doubt.

And because he won three SB (with a QB he did not originally like), Walsh is now considered a "master QB evaluator"

But by Walsh's own actions and statements, he was no "expert" when it came to analyzing and evaluating a college QB for the pros.

In fact, he was more wrong than right in his evaluations.

I find it odd that we are even debating this. It seems that some people feel compelled to take shots at one of the legends of the game because it fits in with whatever view they have of our QBs.

I find it odd you think my view of Edwards is somehow tied to what I think of Walsh's opinion.

You could not be further from the truth. I just do not put a lot of weight into somebody's opinion when history has shown they are more wrong than right.

  14. It wasn't Steve Dils, who was picked 97th that year, it was Steve Fuller, who was picked in the 1st round at pick 23 who was the QB that Walsh wanted. We had his pick from the OJ trade so he didn't have a 1st rounder and missed out on Fuller. The 49ers didn't pick until 29th. He settled for Montana at pick 82.

My apologies. I should have clarified. Dils was not his "first" choice, but was his preferred choice over Montana in the third round.

Regardless, Walsh had Montana rated behind Fuller and Dils. How did those two players turn out?

  15. Regardless, Bill Walsh was right much more than he was wrong.

He was? You might want to do some research on that theory.

Bills Walsh originally did not want Joe Montana, he wanted a guy named Steve Dils.

Walsh had to be pushed into selecting Montana by others within the 49ers organization.

Walsh was high on Rick Mirer, claimed he had "Montana movement" (whatever the hell that is).

Walsh said Plummer was going to be the next Joe Montana, Super Bowls included (please remind of the SB(s) Plummer has won)

Walsh said David Carr and Joey Harrington would "both be very, very successful".

    So, for the record:

Walsh had to be pushed to select Montana, correctly chose Steve Young, and seemingly has not been right since.

Take Walsh's recommendation of Edwards with a grain of salt.

  16. So you think McGahee's problem is all mental, well I don't know what to say to that doc. What would you suggest, brain surgery? If we take out the part that says owe, my knee hurts so he doesn't need the meds, maybe we can fix him

    Look, you said it yourself:

How do you know whats in a mans heart? Maybe going to the Ravens and watching his team fall apart has broken his spirit, especially after his shaky departure with the Bills.

Call it what you want (heart, desire, spirit, dedication, intestinal fortitude, etc ..), but it essentially means the same thing.

He lacks the intrinsic motivation to move to the next level and stay there.

And that makes it a mental issue. Because he is the only person that can convince himself to dedicate himself.

  17. How exactly is Brady Quinn one of the best backups in the league when he's never had a throw in a regular season game?

And Trent Green is ahead of JP? That has to be case of relying on past glory.

Since his brains have been scrambled more than once, he is nothing more than one hit away from being an injury liability himself.

  18. Oh, and you know that how? Ever think his knee gives him allot of trouble?

As a Bill, reports out of OBD WM did not know the playbook because he never bothered to show up for offseason OTA, etc ....

As a Bill, WM admitted in public after a game he did NOT know what down it was when he failed to get a first down on a 4th and 1. he claimed he would have tried HARDER if he knew it was 4th down.

As a Raven, WM is now being criticized for not showing up for off season OTA, etc ... (even though he did it the year before)

As a Raven, WM is now being criticized for not knowing the playbook.

Unless a wrecked knee causes retardation, his problem is not his knee.
