1. sorry, i gotta ask this, and please don't everyone jump down my throat...rich, does your wife read this board? because otherwise, i have no idea why you'd post this message here. if i chose a buffalo bills message board to wish my wife a happy anniversary, i believe i'd get a good swift kick in the nuts. <_<

congrats on your achievement...i'm at 7 pretty damn good years and counting.

  2. HAHAHAAHHA! This is too good.

A guy sits in front of his computer, and for whatever reason wastes his time making a craptacular new "logo" for the Bills, throws it on a bills WEBSITE, we tell him the obvious (that it is an eyesore), and then you tell US to get a life?

    Irony is beautiful.

you said "craptacular." i love it. <_<

  3. Three points-

    1) You want to trade Spikes- Even if salary cap concerns were not an issue.  This team has very few top rated players- Spikes is the very best. Trade him and you water down the talent even more.

    2) The thought of trading him for Baltimore- After Ozzie Newsome stops laughing it will never happen.  A)Ogden is a top 15 player in the league, Spikes is around 50 at best. B) Ravens have Suggs and Lewis. They do not need another linebacker.

    3) You rarely trade an established player for a draft pick.  How have the Bills 1st round picks since 1997 faired?  Lets review.  A. Smith, pick traded for R. Johnson, A Winfield, E. Flowers, Clements, Williams, trade for Bledsoe and McGahee, Lee Evans and JP Losman. Are any of those guys better than Takeo?

    31358

were you responding to me? my post has nothing to do w/ trading spikes. i don't want to trade spikes. i was debating indydave's point that evans won't contribute this year.

  4. How do you suggest this happens then? Lee Evans has great speed, but it takes time to get downfield and get open. But we don't have that time because our line isn't great at pass-protecting, and our quarterback sure as hell can't buy any time with his legs. So I ask you, what good does it do to have a speedy receiver? For now, we are better off with veteran receivers who can get open on short routes and catch the ball. That is a much more difficult thing to do then just streak down the field, and that's why I think it's going to take time for Evans to learn the skill of just getting open.

it all has to do with gameplanning. the more the bills establish themselves as a running team, the more opposing defenses have to commit to stopping the run. this, in turn, leads to play-action and more a more "explosive" down-the-field attack. jacksonville was just a poor matchup for the bills in week one because their interior line is so good at run-stopping.

i really believe that while this is a work in progress, we'll start to see the offense open up in the coming weeks and evans will be a big part of that.

i think a first-time-starting-together OL getting close to 100 yards rushing against the jacksonville defense is a sign of good things to come.

  5. I think the hamster inside your head stopped spinning his wheel. Please don't apply for the GM job when it comes open.

But since we are talking trades, would anyone give up something to Tampa for Keenan McCardell (who is still holding out)? I think most of us agree that Josh is better in the slot, and that Lee is a year away from helping us.

Just thought I'd throw that out there to start a debate about our receiving corps, which quite honestly I'm worried about (other than Moulds).

    31118

i'll throw it right back at you. "most of us agree???" it has been ONE FREAKING GAME. we have no idea whether or not evans can help the bills this year. the gameplan obviously did not involve deep throws to him, since bledsoe didn't take sacks and he got rid of the ball quickly all game. give it some time, man...

  6. Here's Willis' 3 quotes in that article:

"That's their decision, it ain't mine," McGahee said after

practice. "That's all I can say about that. I'm not worried about

it. My time will come. ... Only one person can start and

unfortunately he's the one that's starting."

    and

"What, third down?" McGahee said. "Nothing's good enough for

now. But you know, you always strive to be better, and that's what

    I'm going to do."

    and

"I don't want to be no backup," McGahee said Wednesday. "But

you know, they're paying me. They're paying me a good salary. So to

    be a backup, I'll be a backup."

WTF is so controversial about that????

EXACTLY. much ado about nothing. why did i start reading this thread?

  7. stop the madness! i can't read this crap any longer! how about everyone adopt a code next to his or her member name so we'll know into which of these camps you fall:

a -- love donahoe and every move he makes

b -- respect donahoe as a very good GM but think it's fair to debate and critique his decisions rationally

c -- hate donahoe; he sucks and everything he has done is stevestojan

it will make it much easier to determine which threads and posts to read, and which ones to ignore.

    thanks for your cooperation. ;)

  8. just like clockwork, i tell ya'. a guy could set his watch based upon the moment the ESPN power rankings come out and the amount of time it takes for people to B word about how the bills have been rated.

    hilarious.

WHO THE HELL CARES? if the bills go 16-0 and the patriots are still ranked above them by an ESPN columnist, does it really freaking matter? does anybody know who was ranked #11 during the 12th week of the season last year?

jiminy christmas. rankings are decided on the field. there's one #1 at the end of the season and the rest of it doesn't mean stevestojan.

    :P:doh:;)

  9. here's my roster (10 team league, performance):

    QB -- delhomme

    RB1 -- tomlinson

RB2 -- faulk (marshall, not kevin)

    WR1 -- chad johnson

    WR2 -- darrell jackson

WR3 -- michael clayton, lee evans, or darius watts?

    TE -- heap

    K -- kasay

    D -- ravens

backups: david carr, steven jackson, duce staley, dallas clark

what do you guys/gals think about a week one 3rd WR?

    thx!

  10. I guess you are not familar with the concept of "bumping" your post.

    21163

it's called sarcasm, labatt. i thought canadians were known for their sense of humor? (yes, i'm assuming you are canadian because of your screen name and avatar -- if that is an incorrect assumption, i humbly beg forgiveness. in that case, you're an american w/ no sense of humor.)

    :o

  11. Didn't you make your point earlier....

    http://205.134.161.85/forums/index.php?showtopic=2045

What is wrong with posters cheering for certain players to make the squad?  Hoping for Lawton to make the 53 man roster or practice squad is a lot more credible than all the Jason "Slash" Peters hype that has occurred here since before training camp started and now that he is back on the practice squad, will continue.  Good thing no one else gobbled him up.  Now we don't have to worry that he will come back to haunt the Bills.

    Just my 2 cents!

    21121

yeah...i didn't have enough responses to that post so i decided to start another one...what's your point?

"rooting" for a player to make the team is one thing...calling out the team's GM for not recognizing this "diamond in the rough" and disparaging the players who were kept is another. particularly when one's opinion is based upon watching preseason football and reading other football fans' "expert training camp analysis."

  12. I HOPE this is not an attempt at sarcasm.

    20662

oh, but it is, indeed. a player being considered for the practice squad is by definition a player not expected to contribute in the near future. it humors me to find people distressing over these selections when the impact on this year's team is negligible at best.

  13. the answer to your question is simple. obviously the coaching staff are idiots and don't know nearly as much as a couple of fans watching preseason games.

no, i don't have the specific answer. but burns played his way onto the team last year and must have had a very good offseason before being injured heading into training camp. let's face it; the only playing time he'll see is on ST, so he must have made a good impression there.

  14. ..."rocky top" after TDs and FGs this season. it's pretty amazing when you think about it. nearly 10% of the roster from one college.

    travis henry

    trey teague

    rashad baker

    jabari greer

    constantin ritzmann

and how crazy is it for three college teammates to go directly to the same NFL team together? that has to be unprecedented. and i bet it's never happened before either.

i've gotta say that i give the bills' coaches and organization credit for keeping rookies who clearly outplayed the "experienced" players brought in as free agents. it's got to be a hit to donahoe's ego to discard draft picks and keep rookie FAs, but it's more evidence that TD is not the egomaniac some would paint him to be. no, all of his decisions are not correct; but he is clearly willing to admit his mistakes and move forward.

  15. amen to that. somebody had better say it. its the fricking truth. why in the world do we have so many white DE's on this team??

    19568

what is the point of all this? are you implying that tom donahoe or the bills' organization is racist? if you are, then stop hiding behind inuendo and be man enough to say it. and then, provide some proof. otherwise, keep this stevestojan out of a football discussion group and grow up.

    :(

wow -- i'm more optimistic than i thought. 12-4? unlikely, but that was my first rundown of the schedule. 8-0 at home, 4-4 on the road. the only home game i see the bills potentially losing -- injuries and other uncontrollable factors aside -- is the new england game.

    oh well...we'll see.
