Its not just Daboll, its the conservative approach of McDermott. Ever since the game against the Pats they have turned him into a game manager. The numbers you show prove that. Great QBs have to yards to go with those numbers.

Until McDermott realizes your offense needs to do more then just enough, Allen will be JAG.

That's the result of having a defensive head coach. Something I like about mcdermott is the going for it on 4th down calls. Didnt think we'd get that.

People complain that the Bills haven't blown anyone out, but that is just not how McD approaches the game. He is a "get 2 scores ahead, and go into a shell" guy.

They also don't have a big play guy that might break away while they're playing it safe. This team running up the score against a demoralized defense isn't going to happen, even if they are in control the whole game.

I still don't think the bills have a great signature win against a really good team under mcdermott.

but we do beat the teams we are supposed to beat.

This same defense  shut down Le'Veon Bell, Saquon Barkley, Joe Mixon, shut down the Patriots' entire offense, then shut down Derrick Henry.

    Then the BYE came.

And they've sucked in the two games since.

    This is perplexing to me.

Players are thinking of the record. At least subconsciously.

Playing at 5-1 is different to 3-1 or so as the bills become more favoured to win. It takes a certain mental strength that I dont think this bills team has at this point. I think a big win against a ravens, cowboys can really help that.

Chan Gailey had plenty of faults. But when the bills started well under him( 2011? - I might be wrong on year) I remember him saying that he wanted to see if they could handle having a good record. They couldn't.

Teams come in with a chip on their shoulder and see a 5-1 team as a scalp.

    Killer instinct.

Bell is better than Gordon and signed for the next 3 years with $13m in guarantees.  Gordon is gonna cost at least that much to re-sign.  Jets will get a 2nd rounder or better for Bell if they move him.  Chargers will be lucky to get more than 5th rounder for Gordon.

But Chiefs will beat everyone to the punch and we’ll end up trading a 7th rounded for the Chiefs 3rd string back.

Absolutely. Jets will want a 1st for bell. May deal him for a second.

They will be lucky to get a late third or fourth for him.  Six months ago, he was available as a free agent, for zero compensation.

If that's the comp then I can see them talking now. They will do anything that helps Josh Allen out more.

I think Daboll has made some questionable calls, but I also think he's the most creative OC the Bills have had since Gailey was calling plays (and Marchibroda before that).

This is a fan base that ran Dan Henning out of town after one season (Marv allegedly quit because he didn't want to follow Ralph's advice and fire him). Henning had been saddled with an awful QB (Todd Collins), yet people blamed him. He was immediately hired by Parcells afterward as QB coach, and Testaverde that season had the best season of his career. The Jets that season went 12-4 and went to AFC championship game.  He then became the OC for a Carolina team that got to the SB with Jake Delhomme and lost on the last play of the game in a shootout.

The point is, more often than not it's about the Jimmys and the Joes, not the Xs and the Os. OCs and DCs are easy targets.

Allen hits more throws Daboll looks a better OC.

Philadelphia is a talented team. An ex teammate calling them out was just what the Dr. ordered.  The discord there was blown out of proportion.  Buffalo was out played and out coached on Sunday.

With a top notch coach aswell. I knew this game would be tough for the bills and was concerned about a 5-1 record team getting complacent/ not 'having urgency'. The bills lose against the good coaches and QBs, hopefully that changes at some point this season. Against the ravens would be a good win.

I still believe in the process, I just don't believe in Allen anymore.

If there's one thing this staff and front office is not afraid to do, its cut the rope on players that aren't producing.  That shows me if Allen doesn't get it together, they begin to look.

Will beane/McDermott get to survive another QB draft?

If there is doubt around Allen at the end of the season In next year's draft is the best thing they can do draft a WR round 1, QB round 2 and trade Barkley? Thing is I can't see it happening

    Daboll

Could just be me  but between McD's pressor about "coaching his coaches", Daboll's demeanor, and this little suck/lip smack sound he makes, I believe it is possible he got taken to the woodshed today.  He kind of had a similar demeanor after the GB game.

Or maybe I wrong him.  Maybe he takes himself.

I thought EXACTLY the same thing. Different vibe from him for sure.

I have always firmly been in the absolutely not column for this.  I love the look of the snow games.  The weather in a way brings the fans together and we get crazier especially when we're good.  We wear it as a badge of honor.  I was at the coldest game on record vs the Jets I think it was in 1993.  I was at the comeback game.  My parents had season tickets in the upper deck in the early 90s.  Happiest moments of my childhood was going to those games.  The sweet spot years of becoming a fan.  So I get it.

But if the game is changing, why are we not considering this especially in an area where the wind is all to common a problem and thus impacting the passing games you want to build?  This is not an overreaction to yesterday either.  It's a serious question.

I heard a few weeks back there is talk in KC of getting a dome in order to maximize Mahomes for the next 10 years.  They'd have to get started immediately.  I know....other cold weather cities survive.  But they don't have the wind we do.  Chicago does.  Look how historically prolific their offenses have been.  Green Bay it's just cold.  Never really see wind as an issue.  Same Seattle.  Just rain....and peak Seattle won with D and Lynch.

Its 2020.  Players don't like this weather and WRs aren't exactly lining up to come here.  The early 90s Bills loaded with Hall of Fame talent has been the only modern day offense that was able to play in the weather we get consistently.  But you can't stack talent like that anymore.  We had the oline.  We had the running game.  Great WRs.  And a D that took it to another level at home especially when we had the lead.  And we did.  A lot.  But that's been the only run in this franchise's history of great offense.  Yes QB is a a massive part of it I know.  But still.  It's an adjustment if you're not from Western PA or played in Canada.

So I've changed.  If Terry is serious about a stadium.  I'm about 90 percent all in on a dome.

    I would hate a dome.

How many 200 yard, 2 TD games do we get to watch before we see our franchise QB throw a 300 yard, 3 TD game?!?   When can we have an offense that can bail out the defense?  You see a guy come off the couch in Atlanta and throw 450... you see Bridgewater who hadn't played in a couple years throw for 350 and 4 TD's..  you have Daniel Jones tossing multiple 300 yd games already.. Minshew, etc..

Not saying Josh should have thrown for 300 and 3 TDs  in those weather conditions yesterday, but c'mon.  Stop with the excuses.  Time to grow up.  After the Singletary TD, there was ample opportunity to get chunk passing yards on screen plays and they still couldn't do it.

I don't care as much about the designed run fumble yesterday,  I care more that when Allen stands in the pocket and scans the field, a lot of bad things happen.  That's very concerning.

    I agree with this.

2-1 since the bye with a loss to the team that won the Superbowl two years ago.. In fact, our only losses are against the most recent SB winners.

You also don't know if they are a bad team. You don't know anything except what the record says.. which is 5-2.

Yes. Emotional loss. Emotions are high after that loss.. Why is that confusing?

Oh cool! More "what ifs" on top of your hypothetical.

    I have a couple too...

What if Josh Allen doesn't throw those interceptions vs. NE. What if he doesn't get hurt. What if he doesn't fumble that football against the Eagles. What if Hyde doesn't take a bad angle on the Sanders run. What if we had drafted Tom Brady. What if we had traded for Bill Bellicheck. What if the earth was flat. What if we're actually in the matrix?

I get where you're coming from, and you're entitled to whatever opinion you desire and I'm not faulting you that at all... That being said, you might want to find an umbrella cause your "not a chicken little" post is coming across a little "sky is probably falling".

    ;)

'You don't know anything except what the record says.. which is 5-2.'

Disagree that we 'dont know anything except what the record says'.

From yesterday's game we know they are a 5-1 team not as good as a 3-4 team!

Whilst it IS a record which suggests a 'good' team, the eagles were 3-4 and outplayed us by quite alot remember. Maybe their games were tougher?

In using the record to tell how good the team is, after being beat by a 3-4 team it is understandable to factor in who they played and who they have beaten etc. The games the bills won were close, you are right that the two losses were against two recent Superbowl teams/ coaches.

The record will be the main thing that matters but that will be at the end of the season, not now.
