  1. This IS NOT a make or break year for Gailey. Next year, maybe. But this team, under this regime, has not even drafted a franchise quarterback yet.

This whole operation is a total rebuild in arguably the toughest conference in the NFL. Gailey did more with this offense in one year than that Dick did in 3 1/2 years.

Man, the retard rodeo started early this year.

YES, it's a total rebuild. YES, it's a tough division, and YES, we are STILL asking for more wins. Not next year, not in two years, and not when Luck comes out. Right now. Real geniuses get results.

  2. all this, and you post this gem:

"Let's not question each other's fanhood. We all want the same thing. I'm just not buying into this "Gailey is a genius thing." -Not yet, anyway. Maybe if we start the season 3-1"

All this banter but if he wins 3 of the first 4 games you'll reconsider? Hardly a body of work.

Darn Right. If we beat the Chiefs (or the Patriots), the Raiders, and the Bengals convincingly. I will sip this weird-flavored kool-aid everyone's drinking.

  3. Great posts here. I started this thread because I got sick of the baseless references to Chan as an "offensive genius" His patchwork history gives no indication of that. Sure he's a professional who's done well for himself, but that's it so far. No fireworks. Dallas knew it. Georgia Tech knew it. Kansas City found out the hard way. I'm all for giving someone a chance. But are perenial excuses, and lowered expectations the path to take with this coach? Chan must earn this "genius" mantle he's been given. I despise the Jets. I think Rex Ryan is an arrogant homunculus knuckle-dragger. Nevertheless, the standard he set for his franchise had that mediocre, rookie-led team believing they could win. -And win they did. He found a way to use his big, sweaty, ego to inspire these young men. Pull that off, Chan, and I'll be the first to eat my words. I'll apologize for ever doubting you.

  4. it was time for a change. 43 defense really wasnt working and I'm glad he made the change. you can do so much more from a 34 than you can a 43. Schobel was on the decline so it wasn't a major loss IMO. No biggie.

failed to address gaping holes in the tackle positions? I think the last 3 coaches BEFORE chan failed to address that as well, so don't blame Chan. Since he was changing defensive schemes, he needed to address that first.

failed to get a quality tight end? who gives a sh**. thats the last of my worries for this team.

over committed to Trent? when did he overcommit to Trent? He cut him lose after 2 or 3 games and committed to Fitz.

Quality pick ups in Byrd and Stevie? Ummm. They were drafted BEFORE Chan even got here.

WHO ARE YOU? Definately not a Bills fan. Go cheer for the Titans.

Let's not question each other's fanhood. We all want the same thing. I'm just not buying into this "Gailey is a genius thing." -Not yet, anyway. Maybe if we start the season 3-1. 4-12 to me says failure. I dunno about anyone else.

  5. What did he have to work with? He took over the scraps that Jauron left him. Give him another year or 2. Ive been very critical of this team but never Chan.

Perhaps it's time to be. Everyone thinks Gailey has some "grand master plan." -I don't. I think there's a chance him and Buddy could have gotten a bit too comfortable with each other. -Which is fine if the goal was to sit around *drinking bourbon all day. I honestly thought we were trying to win our division...

*I have no proof that Mr Gailey, nor Mr. Nix are a pair hillbilly alcoholics. -But sometimes.... I wonder.

  6. I expect THE WORLD from Brad Smith. I expect him to play like a superstar if given the chance. Over the years though, I have come to expect litle from our front office and short-sighted coaching staff(s). Doesn't anyone realize this teams dire need for an electric offensive player? It was supposed to be spiller, but he's proved to be a work in progress. We had high hopes for Nelson, but he can't stay healthy. Neither Maybin or Poz really panned out on Defense. We invested in these guys with nothing up front. Now we're holding out on a kid with a substantial body of work. I say throw him right in there with Fitz and Pig-pen. Let the best man win. Give the fans somethin to be genuinely excited about. Why must this talented player suffer a slow, agonizing death by low expectations? -It's nonsense.

  7. I see these highlights of Brad Smith when he was @ Mizzou and @ NYJ and I'm wondering why his name isn't brought up more. The man is a fierce competitor and an incredibly gifted athlete. A guy with his ability could have been the difference in some of those close games we lost last year. Why should Fitz and Pig-Pen have a monopoly on 1&2?

How could a guy from the Ivy league pull more weight than a guy who terrorized the Big 12, and put in some solid work for NYJ? -Can't this talent be converted somehow? Why do we settle for the cookie-cutter prototype QB which hasn't worked out in 12 years?
