  1. That is funny. But I think we can both agree that, comparing Corp and Levi, at least Corp was considered a highly sought after QB at one point in his life.
  2. I'll agree to that but I think Corp is probably better than Brown, he's got a much better pedigree. Brohm, however, could be a very good comparison. I do think that Corp's physical attributes mesh better with Chan's system than Brohm's did. I'm just trying to be glass half full here because the kid deserves a shot after overcoming a ton of adversity, he seems driven and that attitude will be the biggest factor in his success at the next level.
  3. While Corp may have played poorly last year, you have to remember it was his first full football season since HS. He was the backup at USC for 2 years, then missed a year due to a broken leg, then transfered, then tore up his knee after 5 games. It takes a bit of time to come back into a starters role after seldom playing for a few years due to circumstances outside of his own control. If he is fully healed (pro level strength and conditioning/medical staff will facilitate this) and working with Chan and David Lee, I think he has a shot to overtake thigpen, if not this year then next for sure. You have to remember the talent is there despite it being very unpolished as he was once a very highly sought after prospect.
  4. He had a devastating knee injury in 2010. NFL.com has him rated higher than a lot of QBs people on here wanted. Highly recruited dual treat QB coming out of HS, stranger things have happened. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/aaron-corp?id=2532819
  5. Just because you throw money at a player doesn't mean you're happy they are there, look at Sanchez. From rotoworld at the end of Feb: Despite a $4.4 million base salary in 2012, Packers ILB AJ Hawk is believed to be in no danger of losing his roster spot. Asked if Hawk would be returning, coach Mike McCarthy replied, "A.J.? I have no reason to think he wouldn't be." Hawk reportedly drew derisive whispers from teammates after what was arguably the worst season of his career, and McCarthy suggested that 2011 sixth-rounder D.J. Smith will "push" for a starting job this season. Hawk's salary may be revisited in August.
  6. That may be true, I wasn't a regular around these parts then. BUT you would have to think that his value is even lower now making him worth a 4th or 5th rounder rather than a 3rd maybe 2nd rounder.
  7. Would you go after him if he was available via trade? He has been marginalized every year by GB since he doesn't really fit in their 3-4 scheme. He started out in the league (and had his best seasons) in the 4-3 at weakside OLB. I know we have Barnett out there now but you would have to think he could transition to strongside OLB. Just some food for thought.
  8. per himself, via walterfootball.com "After the workout I spoke with the scout from the Buffalo Bills for a while." He does a weekly "draft diary" that can be found here: http://www.walterfootball.com/tankcarder.php Personally, I would love to draft this guy. He's been on my radar for the past few months and I think he would be a perfect WLB to develop behind barnett for a few years. If we could land him and burfict in the 4th round, I would be a happy man.
  9. Would like Okoye a lot. I think, similar to Mario, he was lost in the scheme change and fits much better in a 4-3 than 3-4. Didn't know that about Harris, I feel bad for the guy. Widower with two kids at 29. I do think, however, locker room-wise this would be a good place for him.
  10. Sounds like a good fit: The Bengals haven't ruled out re-signing MLB Manny Lawson. Lawson was used almost exclusively on running downs during his first season in Cincinnati, making 52 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He played a relatively paltry 489 snaps, but managed to grade out as one of the better 4-3 linebackers in the league by Pro Football Focus. He hasn't drawn any known interest since the start of free agency. Manny also played on the same DL as Mario (and McCargo).
  11. Released by Houston today. Worth a shot to replace thigpen?
  12. I have also come to the realization that Morrison will probably be our starting SLB with Moats backing him up. Considering that we will be in 2 LB sets (nickle package)a lot of the time it really makes it difficult to justify Lawson because it puts less emphasis on that position. I will say that Lawson does have ideal size and cover skills to match up with TEs (gronk) and for that alone could be worth the investment.
  13. Eddie Royal fits the Parrish mold and would flourish in the slot. He's a little bigger (5'10", 188) but has all the speed in the world and not as many injury concerns. He had a groin thing that kept him out a few games last year and he was lost in the fold in the Tebow offense, which will lower his asking price. I believe there was a lot of clamoring for him around here around the trade deadline last year. I'm also not opposed to drafting a guy like Wylie, or TY Hilton, if we secure a big bodied WR in FA. If we don't I think you sign Royal and draft a guy like Hill out of GT in Rd 2 (though he may not be around).
  14. Here is some stuff I wrote about lawson a few weeks ago on here: I think Lawson would be a key signing this offseason. He played in a 3-4 with san francisco but is much more suited as a 4-3 Sam LB position. The Sam LB to me is our next biggest void on the D besides the pass rush. He's 28, had some injuries in the past but has been healthy the last few seasons. I think he is worth that risk and would be a solid move by the FO to solidify the front 7. Here is a quick write up: Manny Lawson, OLB, Bengals. Age: 28. As expected, Manny Lawson thrived in the 4-3. He was a stout run defender as a two-down strongside linebacker in Cincinnati's stop unit. Shep and Barnett would be our 3-down LBs and Lawson on early/run downs. He signed a 1-year $3mil deal with Cincy, lock him up for 3 or 4 years at around that rate and we instantly have stability in our LB corps. Also from RotoWorld Bengals agreed to terms with LB Manny Lawson on a one-year, $3 million contract. Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson projects the former 49er as Cincinnati's Week 1 starter at strong-side 'backer. Lawson, 27, racked up nine sacks and a pick in San Francisco over the past two seasons. He has some Adalius Thomas to his game as a cover linebacker, which should appeal to Thomas' old coach, Marvin Lewis. Lawson has enough speed to run with tight ends and is a quality run defender. It's a very nice value pickup for the Bengals. It looks like he's got cover skills too and length (6'5"), we may actually have someone to match up against Gronk. He also played played on the same DL as Mario Williams at NC State (and cough... John McCargo... cough).
  15. I started a thread about lawson a few weeks ago, I think he's the perfect fit for our D.
  16. Also forgot to mention that Mario Williams and Manny played together at NC State and were drafted the same year. Ironically, that was the year we traded back up to get another NC State DL, John McCargo. Hopefully McCargo doesn't sand bag us when they reach out to him to get his critique of the organization.

On O, re-sign stevie and go after a meachem/manningham/garcon type WR. Draft Upshaw who is also strong against the run and play him at LDE with Mario or Avril at RDE (blindside). That would make for a pretty stout front 7. Barnett Shep Lawson (Williams/Avril) Dareus Williams (Upshaw/Kelsey) Round 2 would be pretty wide open, I think CB is probably where we will get the most value and one of the following: Dennard (Neb), Gilmore (SC), Jenkins (N. Bama) and Minnefield (UVA) will be available at 42. OT is another possibility but there might be better value in Round 3 for that (Potter (BSU, Adcock (OSU), Datko (FSU)).
  19. I think it's cool that they are supporting local vendors and each other
  20. Stokley was signed by the Giants, but recently released with an injury settlement. What is the story with Justin Gage?
  21. If you left the "e" off of Danke, I think you'd be surprised.
  22. Aaron has been tweeting all night, I think he's fine. Though, I wouldn't expect him to suit up against the Bengals, maybe even the Eagles.
  23. Sort of piggybacking on that, David Nelson and some other guys are all going to buffalo wild wings in hamburg tomorrow to watch MNF and celebrate the win. Where else does that happen?
  24. Thurman's wife also posted (retweeted by David Nelson) an AWESOME pic of Thurman rocking it with some fans after the game. He literally climbed out the club box window: http://img.ly/8MqK
  25. When I lived in DC i would go to a few of the bills bars for games. Then last year I started going to a buddy's place where they had the ticket. None of them were bills fans but since they really didn't like pro football (college football guys) I could usually convince them to let me switch back and forth between the bills games and nfl red zone. Regardless of the place, my tradition has always involved ample amounts of bong hits to ease the pain of the inevitable loss.
