I think I've seen enough to come to the conclusion that they way they coach defense in general is never going to change and that they will likely continue to give up important drives at the worst times. They need to go all in on offense to try to win shootouts against KC, but they are going back to the drawing board and using the exact same blueprint that hasn't worked. They're just incredibly stubborn about winning on their terms only.

They have scars from the team moving, and that makes them less likely to turn on the team, even when they are doing ridiculous stuff. It's a bit analogous to how some Bills fans are so traumatized by the playoff drought that it makes them less likely to criticize the current front office/coach for not being able to get over the hump in January.

I was referring to how we spent a decade trying to build up the defense to stop Brady and never did. We also had no chance of beating him because we didn't have enough resources for pffense. Then the Eagles played him in the Super Bowl, and won because they could score lots of points. We are making the same mistake with Mahomes. A McDermott defense is not going to shut him down in January. It never has. He is not going to suddenly get good at generating a pass rush.

Jesus, you would think that entire first part where I talked about how we were trying to stop Brady with defense and Philly was able to beat him by outscoring him would've been enough of a clue that I wasn't talking about last year's SB that Brady didn't even play in.

Look at the WRs they passed up for Boogie Basham. They just don't prioritize offense, which is insane when you have the most physically gifted QB of all time, possibly.

McDermott always wanted him to be a "Tannehill with the Titans" type QB, since Day One. Handoff mostly, make a pass downfield here and there, don't take any chances. They still coach him like that to some degree.

We had multiple chances to take a WR, but we just don't value that position. Just keep the pedal to the metal on Allen and make him do everything and struggle to find open guys on every dropback.

Someone that tall will be borderline worthless against the run too, which is the main reason you pick a DT who weigs 350 in the first place - to clog the middle.

The Eagles have probably the best talent evaluators in the NFL. Our staff watched a QB competition between the best player in Bills history and the worst player in franchise history, and deemed the latter as the guy who should start. Eagles vs. NE, hence the Brady reference.

That's been the goal for five years and has never worked. At some point you have to try something different.

They've now allocated three free agent signings and three additional draft picks to the defensive line, an area they suck at evaluating. It's perfectly normal to feel like they're trying the exact same strategy that doesn't work.

Each of the last two postseason our offense stalled out with the game on the line because no one can ever get open. They just expect Allen to do everything. It's getting ridiculous.
