  1. Bengals first opponent - Cleveland Browns with the mighty Colt McCoy at QB & Hillis at RB, the Browns are currently 25th in passing yards & 26th in total yards on offense.

Bengals second opponent - Denver Broncos with Kyle Orton at the QB helm & Willis McGahee at RB averaging 2.9 YPC, they're currently 22nd in passing yards & 27th in total yards on offense.

Bengals third opponent - 49ers with Alex Smith at QB & Frank Gore averaging 2.5 YPC, they're currently 28th in passing yards & 32nd (Dead last) in total yards on offense.

So after adding all three of the Bengals' opponents passing / total yards together & dividing by 3, you get a league average of 25th in passing / 28th in total yards.

I'd say that based on the level of competition so far, the Bengals defense haven't played anyone worth mentioning to put them in any elite categories & have to play the number on scoring team in the league this week. It's hard for me to believe that Cincy scores more than their average amount of points (19) & the Bills score less than half their average (37.7), that would have to be a 50% increase for Cincy & a 50% decrease for the Bills to get close (not going to happen).

The Bottom line: Cincy is going to lose.

  2. I've been reading multiple boards including here & wanted to point out a few variances I find funny between the Power Rankings / Actual rankings or standings. Out of 3 remaining undefeated teams, the Bills have played the hardest schedule in the group & yet rank behind both of them in the power rankings. The Bills also just defeated 2 AFC division winners from last year, one of which has a QB with the most passing yards ever through the first 3 games this season. The Bills also beat a team this year that just defeated a wild card from last season that was undefeated this year.

Point being, the only team in the AFC who is undefeated who are #1 in the actual standings are ranked 5th or worse in power rankings behind many teams that haven't accomplished anything near what they have. That to me is the definition of a huge jam, just to point out all of these facts.

  3. Go with the insults all you want, I haven't been particularly impressed with our defense so far. I understand that the league is more explosive, but we are still ranking in the 20's in many categories. It's an improvement, but I still think we have room for growth and should strive to be better. But hey, I guess that's naive, cool, whatever.

Our defense needs to improve, no doubt about it. The real improvement so far on defense is that we are not getting ran over anymore, which was obviously a goal for the team (looking at who we drafted). Other teams' possess all kinds of talent, that doesn't mean that they will utilize them or even the players will make the best plays.

  4. It continues to baffle me that fans are entirely unaware of the respect that Gailey commands around the league as an offensive genius. It's been mentioned time and time again by many professionals. He is more than competent on that side of the ball.

I think winning means more to Chan than anything else, respect will fall in behind that.
