Let's not get carried away...
-
I know everybody likes Fitz (including myself), but it just shows where the Bills have come from...Our QB's have been so bad, for so long...that if someone comes in and even plays mediocre football we will love him. Fitz certainly has played better than any QB the Bills have had in a while, going back to Drew. I don't know if he has what it takes to be a lasting starter in the NFL, but at the very least he has been fun to watch...The guy is smart, physical and plays hard (can't say that about Trent or JP). The great thing about a guy like Fitz is that there is no sense of entitlement either, he had to work his way into playing time. The Bills need to keep looking for a "franchise" type player, but until we find him we could definitely do worse than Fitz. Well said. Edwards is awful, and I am guessing he is being kept on for financial reasons, and lack of a better (affordable) option. Gailey probably doesn't even have much of a say in the matter... Nix has really impressed me so far. Modrak is finally gone! He didn't waste any time figuring out that Edwards has no clue at DC, and brought in "Wannstache". And this past draft looks pretty good (on paper at least), with no "head scratchers". Of course while the signs look good, my pessimism built by years of being a Bills fan will keep me from getting excited until they show improvement on the actual field...

I guess the sweater vest was a disguise to hide his real actions... There goes Terrell Pryor's draft status next year...Hopefully the Bills stay away from him anyway.
-
If he spears Sanchez or Brady like that...They can suspend him for the whole season...It would be worth it... I can't wait to see this guy play in a Bills uniform (please no mike williams, please no mike williams....)
-
+1, it was pretty frustrating to watch Sanchez get away with throwing all those awful passes...Only to get praised for his "tremendous improvement" in his TD/INT ratio... Hopefully Byrd (and the rest of our defense for that matter), can get and stay healthy. We need him, especially with the possibility of a secondary "rebuilding" of sorts...

I wonder what Ralphs decisions will look like when he's 100+...
-
The almighty buck....hundreds of millions on the line... He also lives in L.A....If he is such a big fan of the Bills maybe he wants to watch them closer to home.... All baseless theories of course, I could be completely wrong (and hope I am).
-
I knew someone was going to say that, and it is a reasonable point...The main difference is that Golisano publicly expressed a strong desire to keep the Bills in Buffalo. In my naturally pessimistic opinion though, the chances of being able to keep the Bills in Buffalo seem to be against us at this point...Please let me be incredibly wrong...
-
Notice he didn't say Buffalo Bills...
-
Lol..."12 sexual devices" in is office....I really hope that was a Clinton type of thing and they weren't for him...
-
Several reasons not to trust this guy... 1)While his ties to Buffalo are good I suppose, he is based out of L.A...The most likely landing spot if the Bills are moved. He could very well be using his "Buffalo ties" to secure a deal with less opposition, and maybe even some local support...Only to make a killing taking the franchise to L.A....Speculation of course 2)This guy is a "high profile bond-fund manager"...I don't see a guy like this, based out of L.A. buying and keeping a team in Buffalo, even though he admits there is "limited room for growth". Sorry, I don't buy that an accomplished banker is going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars just because "he is a fan", and not try to turn a big profit. Thomas Golisano is probably our best bet, or some sort of LOCAL consortium. I just get the feeling this guy is using his Buffalo ties to help him make a buck...Like someone else said, he made no mention of a desire to keep the team in Buffalo.

Spiller on Prisco's list of 20 Breakout players of 2011

I really hope CJ finds a way to make an impact this year. He is not going to be the starter, and he is not supposed to be despite his high draft status. We want him to produce BIG PLAYS ...Something he never even showed glimpses of last year (Ok, I think he actually had one pretty impressive play). Gailey clearly likes these kind of guys, and tried to use him in many different situations so he could use his abilities. What concerns me is the consistent failure to get even a few yards, in many different formations. He doesn't show good vision, and never seems to be able to find the right gap. I think this is a guy that needs a good O-line to open up that initial hole, and get him up to speed. Something the Bills haven't had. I am definitely not ready to say he is a bust though. He is lightning fast, and I still have hope that Gailey can figure out how to get him going...If not, the pressure is on Gailey for selecting him... -

Maybe a chip on his shoulder will get him going...I'd love to see some anger and passion out of the guy on the field. He definitely has the size and strength... SJBF, love the top part of your sig by the way...I never understood why Modrak was "highly respected", despite failure after failure... -
lol, bring him back! At 296 he could play 3-4 end...

??? Then what DO you cut a player for? For the most part I agree with what you said, but the OP never mentioned that we should cut him now. If we could trade him and get value, great. If not there is no reason to cut him earlier than necessary. This is all probably a moot point though. As others have mentioned Gailey loves Roscoe, and most likely he will be on the team. At least until he gets hurt....
-
I agree with those that said Roscoe played well last year...Theres only one problem. The guy is just too small and fragile to play football in the NFL. I'd rather see the Bills keep a bigger athletic guy like Huggins on the roster and let him develop, than watch Roscoe make a few plays before being "broken" for the year. Roscoe also hasn't looked good returning punts in a while, but I suppose our special teams in general took a big nose dive recently, so maybe it's not all him.

Torell Troup's Progress

Actually he did start, twice. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean it is "negative garbage". I also didn't realize you made the rules on exactly what people are allowed to talk about. We are talking about the players on our team, and their play vs their expectations. If that is too tough on your delicate sensibilities there are plenty of other threads... When you have a team that goes 4-12, yeah people are going to talk about WHY. We had the worst run D in the NFL, BY FAR. Naturally people will be looking closely at the D-line... Sorry these threads aren't all roses and sunshine... Agreed. I'd love to see this guy actually make the team, but it seems pretty doubtful. Don't forget, he didn't even play NT his last year of college... His chances are really going to be hurt if there is no training camp for him to prove himself. -
“The people making the rules at the NFL are idiots”
Turbosrrgood replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a tough one, I love the "bone crunching" hits...But I hate to see guys like Austin Collie have their careers possibly ended by concussions...Intentional head shots and helmet to helmet hits should definitely be banned, and those are really the hits that do the damage. They have to work on better helmets, at least for the "risk positions", as well (WR, RB, QB). However rules alone can only do such much in a contact sport like football, if they go too far it could really change the game in a negative way. I will be disappointed if hard hitting in general gets removed from the game. I think the QB protection rules go to far, and really take away from the game...Helmet to helmet shots are dangerous, and I agree with the rule. But it's almost illegal to even tackle the QB now. If your glove so much as grazes the helmet of a QB it's a 15 yard penalty. I think it needs to be enforced to protect the player, but the "phantom" penalties need to go. -

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure everyone in here is really pulling for Troup to develop into a complete stud. I know I am...No one is "bashing players with no real reason". Troup did not have much of an impact and looked less than impressive as a rookie, there is no harm in talking about that...Again, that's what forums are for... Yeah, there are a lot of people that think top draft picks don't necessarily need to show anything their first couple of years...I might be in the minority, but with top picks, especially a guy like Dareus, I expect him to make an impact next year and at least show flashes of top level talent. I will be disappointed if he doesn't. 3-7 round picks, yeah I expect them to take some time to develop... -

Turbosrrgood replied to buffalohotwings's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah I may have exaggerated that a little, my point was that he was not a guy that anyone had even mentioned as a possibility at that point in the draft. Especially with some of the other talent out there. If troupe had been taken later we might not even be talking about this, since the expectations wouldn't be as high. Since he was taken so high however, many people such as my self expected a better showing as a rookie...Is it make or break? of course not, but he didn't even show ANY signs of being a decent NT last year....Maybe he can improve, but I would have liked to see more last year. Why is this thread a joke, just because you don't like it? Why post then? No one should be allowed to comment on a players performance for some set number of years based on your personal opinion? No one is saying he had to be a starter last year, but I would have liked to see at least SOMETHING from the guy. Maybe he can improve, maybe not...no harm in discussing it in a thread...thats what forums are for... -

I wouldn't argue that at all, and I understand your point. The only thing I am saying is that I expect our early picks (1st, 2nd...maybe even 3rd) to contribute in some significant way, right away. After all, there is no guarantee we will be able to resign them for their prime. I at least want to see some of the potential we drafted them for, even if they don't fully develop it for a year or two. -

I don't know if this makes anyone else feel better...But this last draft was the first one that I really felt good about in a long time...We actually have a GM, finally got rid of Modrak...Hope for the future (I know, we've heard that before...)? -
Marcus Easley is looking like a beast.

Lol. Agree completely. Evans may not be a top level NFL receiver, but he is still sorely needed on this team. -

Lol, I obviously didn't pick up on the sarcasm or the Tim Anderson comment (forgot he existed).
