McDermott emerging as favorite in coaching search...
ganesh replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does RIchard have a franchise QB. Tomlin's success is due to coming in with a Super-bowl winning Franchise QB and a defense run by LeBeau. -
It may be the Penn State connection? Didn't Pegula graduate from Penn State?

Pittsburgh has probably the best offense right now and a very strong defense. The dink-and-dunk offense of KC is not going to get it done. Cowboys and Packers will be a very close one. The game between the birds will be close...#1 offense against a top-3 defense....Wilson has to play outside the confines of Seattle. That will be a pretty close game that the Falcons could win. The only easy game is NE vs Houston because Houston does not have a QB

What will get you excited for a better upcoming season?
ganesh replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot of positive will come via addition by subtraction. We have already started with Rex. The defense can get better fast without him. -
Bills should let Tyrod go and sign EJ to a one year deal.

I agree...The Browns have tanked multiple times and they have not been able to come out of the tank job. I would rather hope that we get lucky like Dallas did in the last draft. We need a coach who will deliver. -
Successful HC are not neccessarily developers of QB's

What do we do with the top 3 picks from last years draft that were drafted for a 3-4 ? -

HC candidate Kris Richard interviewing 1/8

They necessarily didn't do any better when they had Chan Gailey as the HC or Doug Marronne -
The difference is that Raiders knew how to finish off games. In the parity driven NFL, wins and losses are just a couple of plays made and not made. I laugh at people saying that the Raiders could have been an 8-8 team...The point is they figured out how to win those last second games..There is no luck or fluke to it.

Tom Coughlin don't like Doug Whaley.

I laugh when people call hard-working billionaires as idiots !!!! -
ANd that is attributed to not having Watkins for most of the season and having stiffs like Goodwin and Robert Woods....He salvaged a little bit due to the presence of Justin Hunter, whom the Bills did not engage more in their game plan.

and he can take Dennis Thurman and Ed Reed with him

Polian says candidates have reason to be wary of Buffalo
ganesh replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It also could be that they felt that they needed to put Lynn in a position to win the game against the Jets and that EJ gave them a better chance to do it compare to Cardale who is still not ready ? Could have been that simple -
1st item: We need a Head Coach with a vision. The HC needs to evaluate TT and decide if he wants to put his career aligned with TT's success (and I hope he does). 2nd item: They need decisions on their FA and how they are going to fill those gaps. Gilmore, Woods, Zack Brown, Lorax were starters on this team playing a majority of snaps during the season. If you don't re-sign them then they are major holes on your defense and offense to fill. How are they going to find their replacements. 3rd item: What to do with Aaron Williams. He is a difference maker out in the field. If he retires, that is another starter leaving the team and a huge void to fill. Do they go after a 1st or 2nd round pick to replace Williams. 4th item: Replacing lousy players with better players. Preston Brown was horrible. Goodwin was below average. Justin Hunter was ok as the 3rd WR. Right Tackle has been a pretty weak position and requires replacement. They are probably going to let go of Henderson. 5th item: What to do with above average players, but having a huge cap hit. People like Kyle Williams, Eric Wood, Dan Carpenter etc. Some of them may become cap casualties. They are starters on this team and would require being replaced. 6th item: Who will be the Defensive Coordinator. The defense does have talent in Dareus, Darby, Williams and the newbees Lawson and Ragaland. How do they build a strong defense around these core players. How do they stop the run and get off the field on 3rd downs. A lot of question marks on this team. But all starts with the hire of the HC. That is the only thing that is important now. My dream team will be Wade Philips as the HC, Norv Turner as the OC and Schwartz as the DC.

PFF: Bills Should Build Around Tyrod
ganesh replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is already signed and the Bills own him. They simply need to decide on March 1st whether to pay him the bonus or let go of him. TT will be the starting QB for this team in 2017 unless you can get a Romo in Free Agency which is really not happening. -
Let's stop the Watkins is a bust nonsense...its WRONG...
ganesh replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need a real #2 and #3 WRs. The defense has been terrible -
Whaley Firing is Inevitable and Pegula Needs to Wake Up
ganesh replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. I don't have a problem with the way the Bills are structured. The Pegula's are the CEO; and have the GM and Head Coach working for them. Could Whaley have done a better job of being professional with the media; yes...but who cares. At the end the Pegulas are letting the GM be the Personnel guy and the HC be the guy in charge of stuff on the field. They have every right to take actions on either side without having to include the other in the discussion. I am sure they have taken input from both sides (Whaley and Rex) every week during the season before they came to the conclusion. How they want to distribute the information is their style. -
Polian says candidates have reason to be wary of Buffalo
ganesh replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bill Polian is probably still pissed that his request to make Chris Polian the GM last year was turned down. He is making Whaley's life miserable with factually incorrect reporting. Bill is doing a horrible job. May be Bill had a deal with Rex last year and it failed. -
Hall of Fame finalists announced - TO in Final 15
ganesh replied to Spurna's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fairly weak class. Kurt Warner gets in this time as there is no competition. Now the WR log jam has cleared, it will also make way for TO. Others making in would be Lynch, Faneca, LT and Morten Anderson. Boselli like Davis will be hurt because of the smaller number of years in the league. Good luck to all these gr8 players. -
Why so much negativity here..especially OPs points are all opinions of our Media (Don't know if they are true facts). It is like any other job. You are given a responsibility and a yard stick to measure your performance. If the Pegulas believe that Whaley is doing his job (according to their measuring stick) then they have no necessity to fire Whaley. A lot of failure over the past two years is based on performance on the field and the responsibility for that falls on Rex. Regarding drafting, we will never know how much power Whaley has over the personnel. Over the years what I have seen is that Bills work as a consensus team and pick players based on their needs....Gailey wanted Spiller and got him in the 1st round...Rex wanted defensive help and got them with the 1st 3 picks in 2016 draft. I am not saying WHaley is doing a gr8 job; However, the evaluation is to be done by the Pegulas based on what responsibility has been assigned to him
-
Nope. He is keeping that as a tool to have surgery and recover in the off season keeping the Bills in Jitters. He holds the advantage.
-
May be there is a clause in TT contract that does not allow Whaley to openly state that it was a business decision to bench Tyrod. Tyrod definitely knows why the Bills benched him (in fact him and his agent coming out with the groin injury clearly indicates that they are not going to let the Bills play any Injury card) and needs to be a professional about it. Sometimes, things are not exactly what they are.
-
But then there is something called Salary Cap which ensures that not everyone can go to Green Bay. TO be honest, Whaley has been able to lure some real good FA talent (May be by overpaying a little).
-
+1. and we probably need a replacement for Preston Brown. He has sucked!
