Sweet baby Jesus..Ponder won't even make it into the 1st round, never mind being taken with the top pick in the draft. Mallett isn't even a top 5 talent right now so he won't be taken with the #1 pick. I don't see Nix reaching for a QB just for the sake of getting a QB. If Luck does not declare, then I think we go defense with our 1st round pick and possibly look at the QB position in the later rounds. Relax people.

The kid is still only 22 years old but it doesn't appear that he has that football instinct to succeed on the NFL level and you can't teach that. This was all Jauron's doing. You don't pick a project player with a high pick like that when you have a bad team full of needs. I want this kid to succeed and be a contributor on defense, but I just don't see it happening.

I have been paying close attention to Clayborn since I saw a quick feature on him during College Gameday a few weeks ago (best show on TV).
This guy is a special player IMO and one of those guys I can only picture playing on a defense like Pittsburgh or Baltimore. He has a high motor, but he is also strong and talented. Offenses seem like they are really trying to gameplan around the guy. Even when he isnt making a tackle or hurry, he still blows up half the line. I also like how he has an attitude out on the field.
Precisely. The guy's motor NEVER stops. He has very good pass rushing moves and he's still disruptive even though he's being doubled and tripled teamed this season. He's just the kind of hard hitting type of guy that this team needs.

If Luck does not come out and declare for the draft, we NEED a defensive stud like this with our top pick. Having a guy that can disrupt the backfield is going to make all levels of our defense so much better.

When I read that the meddlesome owner instructed Nix to go out and scout the college ranks for a franchise qb I cringed. The worst approach to take is to make Nix and his staff feel that they have to take a qb with the first pick, no matter how the qb is rated.
At this point (assuming Luck comes out) it would make sense to take him. For one, it fills a need for a long term franchise qb, and just as importanly he would be ranked near the top of the board as a player.
If Mallett and Locker are rated as mid or lower-tier first rounders and there are a number of higher rated dynamic players, especially on the defensive side of the ball, then you should take the defensive players.
The Bills have been bad for a generation. One of the reasons for such ineptitude is because the owner likes to interfere in the operation. It would be one thing if the owner knew what he was doing but he clearly doesn't. This is the same clown owner who fired Bill Polian and also hired Marv Levy.
The owner needs to allow Nix to do his job without having the pressure of the owner influencing what he really wants to do. What this owner needs to realize is that he is not the solution, he is the problem.
Scouting QB's does not mean that we must take whatever one we feel is best with our #1 pick regardless of how they rank with other players. For all we know, Nix could be taking a beast DE with the #1 pick and taking a QB like Ponder or Gabbert with our 2nd round pick.

I would like to change my vote of Ryan Mallet to Robert Quinn, respectfully. =0)
Robert Quinn is a one year wonder so far. Nix has gone on record stating he won't be drafting one year wonders.
I think if Luck or Mallet is there you take him then focus the rest of the draft on D. Every other pick goes to D. I think over the next couple of weeks the Bills might win a few and not be #1 overall next year. I think that goes to Carolina or San Fran. I also think Dallas tries to trade up and get Luck. If not San Fran takes him. If They cant get him then every pick on Defense. LBs and DL. at least the first four or five picks.
Mallett is not playing well enough to be a #1 draft pick. And he still has accuracy inconsistencies and mobility issues to be picked that high. He'll probably go in the middle of the 1st round.

Nix did this in the last draft when he chose Spiller. If Luck does not come out then we need to take the best DE/DT.
