People need to move on from this notion.
-
Merriman was reportedly upset? I was reportedly in bed with Scarlett Johansson last night.
-
The problem with today is that Cutler will probably make our defense look good by throwing a mass amount of picks and getting sacked. I don't think I could stomach the idea of not getting the chance to draft Luck at #1 because we decided to prove a point and win 4 games this season.
-
IMHO ...
I don't think we pick up Luck if he comes out eary. I don't think the brain trust at OBD values underclassmen too highly.
I'm not saying he isn't the best QB out there, I don't follow college ball enough to tell the difference between the front runners, but I seem to remember Buddy saying at the beginning he looks for continued sucess over an entire college career and didn't like drafting underclassmen.
Buddy has already gone on record as saying that he really likes Luck.
-
Get this guy if it means giving up half your picks. He is money in the bank.
Why would we have to give up half of our picks? I would venture a guess that any team picking ahead of us would need a QB just as much as us.
-
as as long as we are the worst record with a team that needs a QB. as long as we are in the top 2-3 we should be set
Carolina is taking a QB. Browns won't pass on Luck. Cowboys could even take Luck and try to trade Romo. We have the strongest strength of schedule right now so we wouldn't finish ahead of any of these teams if we all finished with the same record.
-
I'm starting to worry that we won't have the worst record in order to have the #1 pick if Luck does come out.
-
50/50. Either he does or doesn't.
-
In Merriman's defense, it was Tila Tequila.
-
Who cares about how much he's making. Neither of us are writing the checks. Who cares whether he's here or not after this season. For all we know he may like being here and Buddy can get him to sign an extension. He may play bad for all we know and him being here next season doesn't matter.
-
First let's get rid of the value picking!!!
The bills have wholes and everyone knows what they are. IMHO the lines are where games are won. This coming years draft does not seem to be an offensive line year, but if we can snag the best available of either line in the second round position I'd say that we are doing well. I'm not even sold on going QB but Luck and Newton are hard to pass up. I'd say take them but don't play them until the line is solid, and they know the system. Possibly let them sit for half the season.
Free agency needs to be very active this year. We need two linebackers of starting quality, and a O or d-linemen. Other than that the teams is solid. Our problem right now is the RT. Cornell Green was horrible, and Cordaro is not good either. The rest of the line is stout.
Actually, Newton would be very easy to pass up.
-
They are on record as wanting to build this team through the draft. They likely aren't going to bring in any big name, overrated, or crippled free agents to take up a roster spot that a younger player could be utilizing.
(You may get nailed by the mods for posting this, actually...there are already a lot of other threads and posts discussing this....just sayin')
Just about anybody could be utilizing Kelsay's reps.
-
The trade deadline has already passed. So claiming him with the intention of trading him is not possible. It would just further reiterate that RW has gone senile.
-
The Bills' secondary will drop 3 sure thing interceptions. The Bears will put up 260 yards rushing. Kelsay will have a big game recording 2 tackles.
-
the guy has played 18 games since 2007 and is injury prone since taking roids. Why add nearly $2million in salary for him?
Are you the one paying the salary?
-
If we get Luck with our 1st then I'm taking an OT in the 2nd round to help protect him. The rest of the rounds are all defense.
-
Drafting Newton would be vomit inducing. The guy is going to be a complete bum in the NFL.
-
I really don't see any negatives to why we shouldn't claim him. He's still young and still has something to prove to the doubters. The absolute worst case scenario is that he comes in, plays like utter crap and gets let go at the end of the season. Best case scenario is he comes in, plays like an animal while mentoring our younger players.

Buddy Nix couldn't possibly be any worse at linebacker at this point.

It's free to dream

Oh, wow, was that deliberate or the best-ever Freudian slip perfect for Halloween?
I don't like to pick spelling or grammar nits, "corpse" is just the perfect Halloween-tide description of our linebacker corps.
Linebacker corpse, gotta love it!
Lol. Ya' know, I saw what I had said after it was submitted and figured it was just too fitting to change.
-
And how much time was it you spent scouting him? Did you even hear of him before today?
I'm not saying the guy is going to come in and completely revamp our defense. All I'm saying is that with how bad our LB's have played this season that it couldn't hurt to see what someone else could do for us. Who knows, we might get lucky.
-
Wow...we lost Thaddeus Gibson??? I can't freakin' believe it!!! How many Pro Bowls was it he played in again???
Is our linebacker corpse so good that we should ignore any opportunity to try and pick up young talent with upside?
-
How good was this guy? Was he a starter?
PTR
He was a linebacker drafted by the Steelers. Need I say more?

He certainly won't be playing DE in a 3-4 scheme.
