People hate McDermott so much that they literally want our head coach to hire someone that will start a power struggle? Haha that’s legitimately insane

I don’t see why there would even be a power struggle since McD has given his OCs free reign to run the offense how they want.

Completely predictable.  McDimwit is interested in HIMSELF and KEEPING HIS JOB.

No way in the world he'll ever end up with a coordinator again who could challenge him in terms of experience, authority, seniority in the league, etc.

He wants everything under his control...which is why we will end our season next year just as we did this year.

The only question facing this franchise, now, as a fan, is WHEN will Pegula hit his patience threshold with McDimwit and actually FIRE HIS ASS.

I'm afraid Pegula may be happy with what he has an intends to keep McD forever.

What does “he wants everything under his control” even mean?

Sure. But then how does any coach ever step up through the ranks? You look at QB coaches who have got the most out of their Quarterback. I tend to think Thad did better at that than Joe Brady this year.

My biggest concern with giving a guy that has such limited coaching experience an entire offense to run is how diverse will his play sheet and play calling be. Will he have enough credibility to have an offense buy into what he is preaching? It’s not as though he’s worked under some offensive gurus either.

Fair. But then his work with Baker is impressive. And we know former NFL QBs (even mediocre ones) tend to get a leg up when it comes to QB and OC coaching. Witness Ken Dorsey for instance.

It’s a cautionary tale. I’m sure it was a collaborative effort but I tend to think the guy designing the offense and calling plays should get more credit. Like Daboll and Dorsey.

He does have zero OC experience. But he has been successful coaching WRs and QBs. As far as candidates to be a first time OC in the NFL go Thad is totally legit.

His top 2 WRs are Evans and Godwin. It would actually be difficult to screw that up. Not exactly a young and raw WR room that needed coaching up.

Who would you like to see us interview that is better qualified?

Klint Kubiak if you’re looking for a name. It’s hard to be less qualified than a guy who only has 3 years of coaching experience, 2 of which were as an assistant WRs coach.

Just looked it up. This dude was an OC for ONE YEAR. At least he called the plays, unlike Callahan.

Play calling isn’t the end all be all it seems. Plenty of coaches have done well without being the primary play caller before being hired as HC.

I'd say he gives you exactly what you can expect out of an edge rusher drafted at the end of Round 1. The Bills need to be a lot worse to have a shot at drafting an actual game-wrecker on the edge.

TJ Watt: Round 1 Pick 30

Maxx Crosby: Round 4 Pick 106

Trey Hendrickson: Round 3 Pick 103

Danielle Hunter: Round 3 Pick 88
