  1. Not a Braves fan really, although when I was younger I watched TBS and the Dale Murphy-era Braves constantly. Red Sox fan actually, and no not a bandwagoner like very idiot I see around Buffalo under a spanking new Sox hat. Anyway, I like the Mondesi move because of the price. Good gamble. Problem is, the dude's a headcase. Good one day, aweful the next and maybe not there the day after that. But if he's willing to play for a mil, than maybe he has something to prove. My bet is, he plays better than the salary, making it a decent move. Hudson was a better pickup!
  2. I own a 96 accord (my wife drives it) and its the best car I've ever owned, bar none. I also own an 87 accord with 266,000 miles on it that I had sitting in my garage for over 2 years, never started once! I put it back on the road without a problem. Yeah, it had rusty brakes but a drive around the block cured that. Put in fresh gas and some gas additive and you should be fine. For $1000, it's a steal unless its all banged up and has known engine problems.
  3. DLR's departure made VH a joke. If we're talking death, John Bonham's death brought down arguably the best band ever. They were wise to fold camp because no one could replace Bonham. The one change that I still think about and probably no one here will even know who I'm talking about is... Sepultura- Max Cavalera left the band he formed, with his brother on drums, and they have sucked every since. In fact, I'm not sure the Cavalera brothers have spoken since! I met and interviewed Max with his new band, great guy. I'm not a Motley Crew fan but didn't they try to move on with a new singer sometime in the 90s?
  4. WTF was this line in the story......... "Even on a team that openly encourages its players to participate in charity activities and community events, Roethlisberger's $18,000 gesture before the Jan. 15 Jets-Steelers game created a positive stir." What the f&$& kind of team is that? That has to be the most shocking thing I've heard in a while. Man, they take millions from fans every year and discourage the players from giving back? Just when I can't hate professional sports any more, I read something like this. The day I tune out completely is fast approaching. It's an existential question. Why do we watch? We don't know these players. They give us nothing more than 3 hours of time a week. When it's over, what have we gained? Are we better for it? Has it truly enriched our lives in any way?
  5. My theory on music has always been that most bands first album is their best. It's when the have the most to give, have all their ideas only in their collectives heads and are the most passionate. That's not to say albums that follow aren't great but just consider the 90s (for those of us who cut their musical teeth during that time) there were some awesome 1st albums..... Ten-Pearl Jam Rage Against the Machine-RATM Adrenaline-Deftones Korn-Korn Or maybe it could be that the band is new to us? Other great debut... GnR Van Halen Zeppelin (my favorite by a nose over Nirvana) Helmet Primus And to the tool who said Nevermind... must be a Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come as Your fan!!!! By the way, for those of you who are Nirvana fans and maybe even collect some of their music, I am the proud owner of an original copy of Love Buzz, no. 365. For those who don't know, Love Buzz was the first Nirvana release and the first release of the famous and now defunct Sub Pop singles club. Only 100 copies were made and they are ahnd-number. The rarest and most sought after Nirvana collectible!!!!
  6. Yeah, giving money is great but posting it on your website to "show" everyone is completely another. Just a conceived marketing ploy in the face of setting the record for highest payroll ever this week! And AP will pick it up, if it hasn't already been plastered all over the NY press. Save the Yankee a$$-kissing for somewhere else. Who cares really. The Yankees are a joke and disgusting. Oh, and nice choke job in the ALCS up 3-0. Scott Norwood called, he says thanks for getting him off the hook for biggest choke. When they go on a road trip, does the starting rotation qualify for the senior coffee discount at McDonalds?
  7. I'm into the heavier stuff and love when heavy bands cover a song outside their genre, especially from another band I like. Or when they cover something from one of their "idols". War-Sepultura, originally by Bob Marley Sweetest Perfection-Deftones, originally by Depeche Mode Cars-Fear Factory, originally by Hary Numan Crown of Thorns-Pearl Jam, originally by Mother Love Bone (phenom band with Stone and Jeff before PJ, truly amazing song) Ghost of Tom Joad-Rage Against the Machine, originally by Bruce Springsteen Damn, so many covers it's hard to pick the "best"
  8. Welcome back to earth. This was ineveitable. Just enough to break your heart. This team has feasted on garbage for the last 2 months and finally met a team that's better coached and has better players. I already had my sports miracle this season and the chances of the Bills making the playoffs after starting 0-4 AND the Red Sox winning the World Series after being down 0-3 to the Yankmes in the SAME YEAR are astronomical and therefore impossible. Our OL still sucks. Our QB still is indecisive. All you McGahee lovers digest these stats... Loss to NE, had 37 yards Loss to Bmore had 58 yards Loss to Jets 42 yards 2 playoff teams and one with a great defense! So when it comes down to it, they never showed anything against top caliber teams. 6 wins in a row, a great accomplishment in this league, but against St. Louis, Seattle, Miami, Cleveland, Cinci and SF. Anyone who thought this team was anything more than a one-playoff game team, which they are not, is kidding themselves. So start the baseball season!
  9. Way to judge someone you've never met! Intolerance is a sign of an under-developed mind. Yeah, going against conventional norms automatically makes you a potential serial killer. What an idiot. I've never smoked pot in my life but find those who've put materialism, ego, vanity, etc. to be more intersting than those who walk to the beat of the social drummer. Stick to football and leave the social/psychoanalysis to those with a brain. Football is about your speed. I'm sure it's the only reason you'll watch 60 Minutes for the first time EVER! I feel sorry for people like you, I really do. You lack an understanding of things you've never done or people you;ve never met. So instead of listening with a keen ear, you judge against what you do not know. A great rock star who you probably would call a loser without knowing anything about his personal life said said something that has great meaning "Self-appointed judges judge." Think about it.
  10. The most overrated, arrogant, pompous, media-wh*^$ around. Oh, and they suck musically. Same chords over and over and over............ Corporate rock at its finest. I mean, can I turn on the TV and NOT here at P-U2 song in a commercial? God, just go away.
  11. Now everyone who has been saying this team is better, McGahee is the answer, etc... can put their feet back on the ground. Defense is overrated. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. That's the most important stat. 24th in the league in takeaways. They have been weighed, they have been measured and they have been deemed mediocre.
  12. Funny, I just had a interview for an urban planning position with the City of Auburn (pop. 28,000+) and they just opened a huge Bass Pro with little or no complications. So when they asked me if I had any questions, I said sure... How come this town is running a budget surplus? How have you managed to keep your industrial base? How did it become to progressive compared to WNY? (Afterall, they have a city manager, someone trained to run a municipality and avoid the pitfalls of politics while maing decisions based on what's best for the city, not the employees and them selves) And how did the Bass Pro deal come together so smoothly with not nearly as mnay people in the couty or region as Erie County? To which they all laughed!!!!!!!!! Like I do everytime I read the snooze or what the snooze. Joke after joke after joke....... A great musician penned the most appropriate lyric for the city of buffalo......"I have never failed to fail"
  13. Remember this.......... hate him or not, he sacked up for 2 playoff games with sutures in his ankle from a surgery never performed before and sone only to try to help him pitch. You saw the blood and the hobble so you have to admire the guy, even if you won't admit it. Why? Because the biggest a-hole to ever wear a Bills uni chickened out of a playoff game against Pittsburgh because he was sick. The most selfish, greedy, over-rated player in Bills history. Played when he wanted, especially in contract years and stayed around to break a record that he had no business breaking. You all know you'd love to have a guy like Schilling on your team, be it baseball or football. Warrior is the term that comes to mind.
  14. Yeha, Bush has been so wonderful for this country in hte last four years...let's count some of the ways... 1. Took a budget surplus and turned it into a massive deficit 2. Wants to drill for oil in Alaska for his big oil friends benefit 3. Despite proof that we've moved closer to the end of the oil era than previously predicted due in large part to SUV useage, Bush only proposes a 1.5 mpg increase in all SUVS by 2007. Good going a-hole. 4. Supports the death penalty, despite the fact that killing someone costs as much as 10 times what it costs to keep them in jail. Not that this rocket scientist and noble prize winning economist can understand that. 5. Continues to push a national missile defense, a wasteful project started when Russia was a threat, which it no longer is. 6. Oh yeah, something about 1100 dead soldiers.... I can go on and on but this guy has done squat that's benefited anyone making less than $1 million a year. I'm not saying Kerry is the answer either but I am saying is this mumbling, bumbling retard has had his 4 years. Time to go...........
  15. This is the worst Bills team I've seen. What a monumentous waste of time watching this team it. So I'm done for the year. I've come to the point in my life where watching a "game" that features players who I can't relate to, isn;t worth my valuable time. I think someone should do a study of the average team score on the Wonderlic for every team in the NFL. Then compare how that relates to team success, penalties and other variables that intelligence can be considered a factor for. My feeling is this team is loaded with undereducated, unintelligent, yet skilled athletes. There seem to be some intelligent players and there are some real idiots as well. And my opinion is that translates into poor performance on the field. Lack of a solid education and the skills necessary to be successful in the classroom (i.e., time management, studying, critical thinking, analysis, etc.) can be troublesome for some players. Well, enjoy this season. Maybe I'll check back in in March when everyone is debating who we should draft with the sure top 5 pick we'll have, or better yet, the first overall.
  16. Can tell there aren't many true baseball fans or players here. The pine tar isn't intentionally smeared on the helmets, you crybaby Yankee fans. Use your heads....... the pine tars is used on the bat handle, which comes in contact with their batting gloves, which then comes in contact with their helmets when they put them on, adjuct them at the plate, pick them up after walkoffs HRs beat the biggest bunch of greedy, miserable eunuchs. And unlike the power-hungry, controlling egomaniac that is George Steinbrenner, John Henry doesn't make the players or ball boys or whoever is responsible to buff the helmets daily so everyone can see the almighty sign of corporate sports gone wild. God-forbid the team has some unique identity that takes away from your marketing. Man it feels great to be a Sox fan today.
  17. Yeah, Marino is a jackoff for saying that, but I have to think that it's somewhat true in many cases. How many former Bills still live here? How many former Dolphins and NFLers live in cities like Miami and Atlanta, that many WNYers are moving too?!!!!!! Being one with a masters degree and absolutely no job prospects in this town for over two years, I am hoping to be a transplated Buffalonian in the very near future......... Hard to continue my undying love for a place that........ Hopes to have a county sales tax in excess of 9.25 percent; Has a central city and many other municipalities on the bring of bankrupcy Has ridiculuosly high state and town taxes Lacks anything close to job growth Is sprawling for no reason whatsoever (no population growth means no need to sprawl, simple concept), costing ALL taxpayers millions in development, infrastructure, and service costs Despite it's nickname the City of Good Neighbors, most could care less about the sustainability of the region....see sprawl and proof of selfishness of this area. OK, I'm done ranting. Bottomline is, Marino is right. Even those with good jobs want out!
  18. I doubt he's interviewing out of town because he called my boss last week for an estimate on some work on his house in Amherst. So he probably is just sick.
