    Irritating thing?

If Allen played the way he does in the playoffs all the time, we would likely get the 1 seed every year and he would win MVP every year.

The guy steps up when it matters. It’s not irritating, it’s a blessing.

The team needs better talent to surround him with. Then you’ll start seeing all the accolades and trophies that everyone wants to see.

I may be overly optimistic. I may be a fool. I do believe the Bills as they transition to the second stage of Josh Allen's career are not going to see the drop off and chaos that other teams deal with when having to release players due to pricing themselves out of the salary cap.

My reasoning is I think the Bills and more importantly Brandon Beane discovered something this year observing the team and the NFL as a whole.

The Bills have definitely shown a greater focus towards adding talent to the defense and it has come at the expense of the offense. As we see a lot of the veteran defensive players age out and move on, it sets up a unique opportunity for the Bills to shift more cap towards offensive weapons.

I think at the very least this season we saw McDermott show he can do more with a lot less talent on defense. (I am aware a lot of you want him gone. I don't think he is going anywhere) Under Beane we saw numerous drafts where we spent high end picks on the defense and tried to make do with players drafted in the later rounds on the offense.

Beane must realize after witnessing the poor play of our outside receivers that this team isn't going too far unless they add legit top end talent to the offensive side of the ball. He has a phenomenal start with Cook, Kincaid, Shakir an offensive line that should be together another 5 seasons. Minus Morse.

Find guys later in the draft that McDermott can turn into capable starters on the defensive side of the ball. Start giving Josh outside weapons and guys who put pressure on the secondary and beat zone consistently on all three levels and man coverage.

The future isn't shot. The Bills haven't come close to maximizing Josh's talent on offense. For all the money we have poured into the defense it still hasn't come close to having key stops when we have needed it in the playoffs.

Let's just build a juggernaut on offense instead of a Josh Allen Superman show on offense.

Offense wins in this league. Not surprising Mahomes best seasons were with Hill and a younger Kelce. That Lamar is having his best year when the Ravens went and got him reciever talent. That Burrow has been the only QB to beat Mahomes with insane reciever talent. To win you need a top flight QB and a great cast of reciever talent around him. Bills have never surrounded Josh with top reciever talent outside Diggs. Time to get on that. Starting this off season.

This is a good post. You'll get downvoted because the average fan is a slave to their emotions and will make this place insufferable all offseason.

We lost a heavyweight slugging match the other night. It happens. So the negatives become magnified.

The thought process should be....who do we need to get rid of that's holding us back. The emotional fans say McDermott, but I don't think that's the answer.

Bass needs to go, Gabe needs to go, and we need to look around for OCs besides Brady. Sign him if there's nobody better, but we should shop around.

Another poster mentioned a new system for Allen that's far different from the Daboll system. I think that's a great idea and the first place we should look. Start adding top notch offensive talent and these close losses will turn into comfortable wins.

Allen will never win MVP. You have Bills fans on here who go out of their way to refute why he shouldn’t win it or isn’t better than other QBs. How is he ever going to convince an objective observer if some of the fans from his own team would rather put him down in the face of good reason why he should be MVP over others.

We win a Super Bowl this year and the nation will see his positives and award him an MVP next year.

Rules of haters: they ignore macro success and pull down on micro failures.

Nobody in the history of Earth didn’t have micro failures. The point is they overcome them.

When people, and people who should be on our side, refuse to recognize that, there’s a serious problem and they should be ignored.

This is a guy pursuing clicks rather than logic.

This guy makes mistake after mistake. He says that "the last three Super Bowl-winning QBs have been in the top five in INTs," and he shows a graphic where he says that Mahomes was tied for 4th last year. Um, no, Davis Mills, Dak, Josh, Derek Carr and Cousins all had 13 or more. Mahomes was in a four-way tie for sixth, putting him in the top nine. Not 4th.

The same graphic says that Brady was tied for 3rd with 12 the year he won the SB. Yeah, um, wrong again. He also was tied for sixth, though with three other guys.

And why the sudden switch to Super Bowl winners? We're talking about MVP winners, aren't we? The year Brady won the SB, he wasn't the MVP. Rodgers was, throwing 5 INTs. The next year, when Stafford was the SB winner, Rodgers was again MVP. This time with 4 INTs.

So the last three MVP winners had 5, 4 and 12 INTs.

Josh has 18 this year. In that group of four, see anything that sticks out?

Here are the INT totals for the last 10 winners of the MVP:

    2022:  12

    2021:  4

    2020:  5

    2019:  6

    2018:  12

    2017:  8

    2016:  7

    2015:  10

    2014:  5

    2013:  10

    Again, Allen has 18.

His INT numbers do not fit with this group. No wonder the guy in this video suddenly and without explanation switches away from SB winners and completely botches the INT rankings of two of the three guys he cites on top of that.

It's filled with logical problems and he is spinning like a dreidel.

He cites the opposing argument, "But his interceptions directly cost the Bills wins." And his riposte is to cite EPA per total plays. But you can have a very good EPA per total plays and still have cost your team wins. The stat doesn't really address the argument he's trying to knock over at all.

Yet he immediately goes on to argue that his EPA data shows that he can't have lost games.

Sorry. Very little logic here at all. Clickbait.

Allen has had overall a top five season. Which is damn impressive. We're lucky to have him. But arguing he's the MVP is greatly stretching it.

You’re nitpicking. Ignoring the macro for the micro.

Allen was unanimous MVP this year in a rational world. All the arguments against are BS.

First it was Burrow has moved into a tier only Mahomes is on.

Then the entire summer was endless Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. Every single day he was the lead story. He was going to take over the conference.

Rodgers lasted 4 snaps and then it became he’ll come back just in time to

    save the Jets.

Burrow got hurt 2-days into Training Camp and it was brushed aside as he always gets hurt in Training Camp and the Bengals always start slow.

Then it was Tua in Week 3. The Dolphins had found the perfect QB for their system.

Then the media moved onto Jalen Hurts. The Eagles weren’t as dominant as last year, but Hurts had matured. Then came the 49ers game and that ended.

Then it became Dak, look at this scoring, Dallas is for real.

Then it went to Brock. The 49ers are dominant, he doesn’t make mistakes, until the 4-interception game against the Ravens.

And now the media has settled on Lamar. QB of the best team in the league.

    “Oh God, anybody but Allen”.

    “Why?”

    ”Uh uh…. He’s a turnover machine!”

    ”Whatever”

  7. Something else funny. The first half of the year the media was obsessed with Jalen Hurts and the tush push and how he had so many rushing TDs. It was one of his big arguments for MVP.

Hurts slowed down and Allen ended up tying Hurts for the NFL RECORD for rushing TDs by a QB in a season and not a peep. Nobody brought up rushing TDs anymore. No longer did rushing TDs matter for MVP.

Allen passed Steve Young for 2nd all time for QB rushing TDs with 50 this year and IT WASNT EVEN MENTIONED on the broadcast. Allen is going to be the first QB to have 100 rushing TDs and nobody is talking about it.

I swear something weird is going on and has been going on for 6 years with the media and sports fans. Something about Allen man. I don’t know, it’s like everyone sees his greatness but doesn’t want to admit it.

People seem to go quiet and uncomfortable when you start talking about his greatness.

Why do these threads always devolve into 2 or 3 guys on a crusade trying to convince Bills fans how badly we suck and how good the opponent is?

It was nice after the Cowboys game when there was nothing to nitpick and all the threads were short.

If we win a SB this year I feel like a lot of “fans” will never come back to this forum again. At least until our next downturn cycle. But even then, they would have less ammo since we could always point to our ring.

No, but don't you find all comments that he hasn't been great are quickly followed by excuses, none of which have to do with Mahomes himself? It's his receivers, his line, the fatigue that comes with all that winning, etc. His Holiness himself is never doubted that I ever heard. Nothing like, "He's great but..." as with Allen. It's always "He's struggling because others are letting him down."

I get why. People think he deserves the benefit of the doubt because he's won in the past. But that doesn't change the facts, which are ignored in service of the Narrative.

We blow them out this week and narratives start to flip.

At the end of the day, people make up their minds during deep playoff runs and Super Bowls when everyone comes over and talks in superficial narratives.

  10. A lot of people doubled down on McDermott after the Broncos/Eagles loss and the Dunne article. Heard some very emotional displays on this board against him.

What he's done is silence those people in ways that make things awkward. As we continue winning this year, starting with the Chiefs this weekend, I will be monitoring some of those posters to see when they admit they were wrong.

Will they continue moving the goal posts? Will they subtly set McDermott up for failure by making a loss to the Chiefs seem "unthinkable". If we win the Super Bowl, will they still secretly want him gone? I wish I was joking.

I know I was in a bit of freakout mode yesterday but I am calming down a bit.

I noticed through the season some of the things that you pointed out when it came to "struggling Bills" narratives vs the "elite" Chiefs but you are putting them all together.

    • Like you said, "Mr. Turnover" Josh Allen and "GOAT" Mahomes have very close splits this year in TD/INT: 29/18 for Josh and 27/14 for Mahomes (disregarding Allen's 15 rushing touchdowns)
    • The Chief's elite D is 2nd is points allowed...and the Bills are 4th. The Bills allow 10 more yards per game.
    • Bills are 6th in Points per game scores while the Chiefs are 15th. 5th in rushing while the Chiefs are 18th, but we should worry about being outmuscled by the Chiefs.
    • The Bills struggled against inferior opponents after the Cowboys, barely beating the Chargers and Patriots and Dolphins while the Chiefs...lost to the Packers, lost the Bills and lost to the Raiders while not looking like world beaters vs the eliminated Pats and Bengals.

Plus, as people have pointed out: Allen and the Bills went through their gauntlet and gelled. The Chiefs defense, impressive as it is, drops in effectiveness when they don't have the record sound at Arrowhead drowning out play calls.

Out of those 3-3 splits (but 0-2 in the playoffs!) media heads have been harping on 5 out of 6 were in Arrowhead. The one game in Buffalo was in October 2020, (someone correct me if I am wrong) a brisk clear day in an empty stadium with no fans. Mahomes has never played at Highmark with Bills fans allowed in.   Mahomes has never played a road AFC playoff game with a hostile crowd. This is a sold out playoff game where Bills Mafia is going to be out of its mind.

Now, it's far from a sure thing, but the more I see the more I am settling down.

The second you ignore the narratives and look at the situation for yourself, the more it’s feeling like the Chiefs are due for an ass beating.

Question:  when is the last time KC faced a top tier QB on the road and won?  They haven’t even done well against elite QBs at home.  This season they lost to Love at GB, lost to Allen at home, lost to Hurts at home…they beat Tua in Germany and at home, but we know who Tua is…

I just looked at their game splits and this Chiefs team is completely underwhelming.  They finished the regular season on a 5-5 “run” — winning their last two in unimpressive fashion against the Browning Bengals and Hockey Stick Chargers (when everyone was rested).

The last time Mahomes threw for 300 yards?  Against the Chargers in W7.

I think there is an overwhelming sentiment, because of who Mahomes and the Chiefs have been, that they are still an “elite” team.  Do we really believe that their win in an Ice Bowl against the quitting, stinking Fish means they are “back?”  I’d suggest they haven’t played a complete game since W7, and they really have no impressive victories at all this season.

And while we’re at it, let’s talk about turnovers.  The “turnover machine” Josh Allen-led Bills have turned it over 28 times through 18 games…the Chiefs have turned it over 29.

I get it, the Bills’ defense is injury ravaged and we’re all anxious because of our BBFS…but on paper this game doesn’t look like a “pick ‘em” at all.

I’ll never underestimate Mahomes or Kelce, and the Bills need to focus on continuing to shut down the run…but this is our time to end the Chiefs’ run.

    Go Bills!!!

    15 and 6, Babyyyyyy!!!!!

If there is ever a game where we shock the sports world, it’s this one.

    42-13 Bills.

  13. What stood out to me more were no interceptions or bad QB/WR miscommunication plays with Gabe out. Only one bad drop by Knox.

The fact that we don’t miss a step AND weren’t hurt by negative Davis plays, tells me we’re better off without him. Shakir might be the guy.

When thinking about playing KC in the playoffs, how can you say Allen’s always had very good defenses!  Allen led Buffalo to 2 TD drives that put Buffalo in the lead AFTER the 2 minute warning and we still lost the game in OT!

Any kind of defensive stop by Buffalo late in the game & Allen’s performance in that game would be called an all time great playoff performance. The entire perspective of Bills vs Chiefs would be different.

They can’t comprehend this because that’s not the national narrative.

Yeah, I know.."he throws too many interceptions so I can't vote for him" is the common cry.
