That's fair but I'm still not sure about the Bills "All-Star" pro personnel department. Pegula paid a lot of money for these guys and thus far I'm not sure I'd trust them. Star looks ok but they traded for KB, picked up McD of the NE practice squad who's looked poor, signed Davis, McCarron, Gaines, Bodine, Newhouse. Murphy is cheap, so can't really complain there. The only WR they brought in this year is Kerley. I guess we will see.

This keeps getting repeated, who are they signing? Have you looked at the FA class for 2019? It’s not pretty at bot OL and WR, where the Bills lack talent.

I don't see anyone throwing in the towel, just questioning some of the decision making, which I think is certainly a reasonable thing to do. As far as the quoted paragraph, Allen struggled against the Bengals in a game without starting LT Dion Dawkins and a rotation of the interior of the OL. You could argue the struggle was McD's own doing. Add to that Peterman faced one "1st team" defense and had 1 good drive against that defense, which were playing fairly vanilla. The rest of the preseason he was going against guys who aren't in the league anymore. Sure be a man of your word but don't you think he should have tested Peterman a bit more?

I still question McD a bit. Peterman had one good drive in preseason against a Carolina D not starting its entire DL and playing a vanilla pass defense. After that, did he really look all that impressive? Not to me, he looked like the same guy. Now it's being said that the plan was to start Allen but because of the Bengals game he didn't. A game where Dion Dawkins sat out and they continually rotated the interior of the OL to simulate injuries or availability or to find the right guys. They gave Allen a worst case scenario in that Bengals game and then decided to go with Peterman who was challenged by one "1st team" defense all preseason. That makes no sense and many, many people saw this coming with regards to Peterman.

Yea and it was said at the time that all these guys were too expensive for what the Bills wanted to pay.

I think the most confusing bit from McDermott was that he was going to go with Allen to start the season but then changed his mind after the Bengals preseason game. So he sets up Allen with a worst case scenario, to see how he handles it, which predictably doesn't go very well and thus confirms he should start Peterman based on the easy path he gave him in preseason.

It's just like any profession though, not sure why people think it's different. Just because they've been around football their entire working career doesn't mean they can't get things wrong. It also doesn't mean someone on the outside looking in can't be right about it.

As if a company has never hired the wrong guy for the job.

This is right but I'd say it's not pre snap, because NP knows where he is going pre snap. It's the moments directly after the snap of the ball, the post snap movement, that he doesn't adjust to. The single high safety is covering the seam pre snap, it's double covered. But then look right after the ball is snapped, Weddle turns his back to the seam and drifts towards the left hash marks. He's following Nates eyes. At this point, :23 secs, the LB covering Kearly isn't watching NP and is just about to let Kearly run past him. NP is too locked in on Clay and waiting for him to get open and hasn't diagnosed the play. He misses all of this and he misses Kearly breaking open in the seam when there is still protection.

I said it in the other thread and have said it before. NP's problem is post snap reads. He diagnoses the defense pre snap and then is just bad at post snap adjustments. He left plays on the field because he doesn't diagnose the play after the snap. He stares down his 1st reads too, some good examples from Cover 1.

It looks like to me, he stays on his first read or the left side of the field too long. He waits too long for Clay to break from his guy. And here in lies the problem with Nate P. He's determined where he's going before the snap and does a poor job post snap. Watch the Safety follow his eyes over to the left, leaving the seam wide open. Weddle has his back to the seam route even before Nate gets to his first read. That's a TD if he recognizes this post snap, he just doesn't do that.

And that’s exactly it. If it’s one or 2 plays or a couples series that decided the game, by all means say you need to look at the tape. But come on, that was a complete and utter domination by the Ravens. You don’t need to look at the tap to determine that. It was bad. Say that. It was unacceptable. Say that too.

There should honestly be no need for him to look at the tape to determine who to start next week. And based on how things have gone offensively, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't get anything out of looking at the tape of the offensive side of the ball. More than likely he needs to talk to Daboll and see what he thinks. He's a wet blanket when it comes to the offensive side of the ball, which is annoying. They had one shot during the game, think it was the 2nd offensive possession, where McD was on the tablet looking at what I assume was the last defensive series, hardly paying attention to what the offense was doing. That's a problem.

Here's a concerning stat: 30+ points scored wins under McDermott - 1 30+ points allowed losses under McDermott - 5 The points allowed were 34, 47, 54, 37, 47 and the Bills didn't score over 30 points in any of those losses.

I didn't prove your point at all. Dak Prescott played behind a good OL and now doesn't have one, and he isn't the same player. So the Cowboys were sold fools gold. And you are still ignoring Luck. You said he was very, very, very raw. I don't agree with that, no. Is he a bit raw in certain aspects, yea. Does he need to learn some things? Yea. Can he still do that? It's certainly possible.

It was to begin with, it's been bad, to very bad the past few years. And yet he still produces. What about Luck? How do you know he's very, very, very raw? You haven't seen him play? This is regurgitating what is the believed perception. A very, very, very raw QB doesn't go an make some of the throws Allen has mad. And yea he played behind a crappy team in Wyoming. Was his confidence knocked? Nope. He still went out and got drafted in the 1st round. The sacks don't seem to bother him. He's going to get sacked. It's going to happen.

Although not terrible, the deep throw to Foster at the end wasn't great. He under threw it and a better throw Foster walks in, if he catches it lol. But yea, he didn't make any bad throws that seemed like they would be picked.

And Russell Wilson is a good example of a guy who play behind a crap OL and is continually good. Andrew Luck plays behind crap OLs. Look if you solution is to constantly have 5 All-pro OL to protect your QB, it's just not possible. Many, many good/great Qbs get by with average to just good OLs. Is the Bills line even average? No, not at the moment but they are giving the QB enough time to throw and to evaluate. There are other problems at the moment like the WRs and the fact that Allen thinks he can run through the tackles and sacks like he did in college. He can't. That doesn't mean you are going to destroy his confidence.

I love that David Carr is literally the only QB people can point to who was "shell shocked" in the modern NFL era. Yet, here we are and how many QBs have been drafted and started behind bad OLs and haven't been shell shocked, they succeeded or sucked. Soooooo 1 guy, 1 QB. But wait, it could happen to Allen, it happens all the time...

Magically improves? Where did I say that? Could it get better than what was out there? Yes, that is entirely possible with better QB play. I'm not saying this team is going to turn into some playoff team with Allen in there but HE IS the better QB from a talent perspective. And thanks for the snark, I do watch the team and whats happening and just don't rah rah support everything they do as being the correct decision.

Yes, it's a team sport and other aspects have sucked but by far the most important position in all of sports, the QB, has sucked the most. A better QB can mask a bad OL. A better QB can make WRs look better.
