Last time I knew a running back needed a solid Offensive Line to "light it up." Need I say more...

So what is your point? Troupe was a big reach and I don't like the pick. Mt Cody was the true run stuffer picked at 57 by the Ravans and Ossie Newsome. Also, could have gotten Cam Thomas who was picked by the Chargers in the 5th round. Great value. Why reach when you could have taken Clausen at 41. Not a huge risk at pick 41(unlike pick 9). Instead they reach for Troupe who may not be successful in the NFL either. I don't understand the Bills thinking. Don't even get me started on the Spiller pick? -

I don't agree with your analogy of the running and passing game. I believe teams will stack the line 7-8 guys in the box and stop our running game. Our running game will not be able to withstand this attack due to a weak offensive line. Thus, teams will dare us to beat then in the passing game. I don't see that happening either. Just my two cents. Not trying to be negative and hoping the Bills have a game plan/solution for this. -

I think what your failing to consider is that opposing teams are going to put 6, 7, or 8 guys in the box and stop our running game. Stack the line of scrimmage and force us to beat them with our passing game. They have no fear of our passing game. Do you think we can beat teams with our OL, QB and WR in the passing game. I say no and emphatically NO! -

Troupe was a horrible reach . Why not reach for Clausen? At least Clausen could have stepped when in and given us some hope for the future. Clausen would have been an upgrade to all of our QB on the roster. -

This doesn't sound like an optimistic post to me... -

They way I see it. If the Bills don't make a FA move for a LT we are in trouble. At best The OL is Medicore. Wood is going to be really good but we don't know how he is going to respond after that "potential career ending" injury. He is an unknown. Levitre is pretty good but still young and learing. Hartgardner is average at best but at least has experience. Green at RT is below average and holds way too much. Last time I knew most teams don't win many games with an average OL.

Fantastic post!!!! There you go no doom and gloom there. This must make you optmistic Bills fans feel more at ease. LMAF

Fish, I will have a better attitude when this organization starts winning. For ten years we haven't won. As a result, I cannot buy into any wishful thinking, optimism, or far away dreams. I am a results orientated man and the Bills have showed me little to change my attitude. Those facts are hard to dispute You can compare all you want. It will get you no where with me. -

It would be less painful...But the "stupid Bills fan in me hangs onto the illogical thought that we can consistently win and be competitive." Kinda like playing the lottery and hoping your going to win.....You know your not going to win but you still play and hope...That what its like for me to be a Bills fan. -
Lets compare two organizations and see what you guys think? WASHINGTOM vs BUFFALO WASHINGTON - Hires GM Allen and Coach Shanaham BUFFALO - Hires GM NIX and Coach Gailey Washington's major weakneses Left Tackle and QB Drafted Trent Williams and traded for D Mcnabb Buffalo's major weakneses Left Tackle and QB Drafted Wang and Levi Brown See where I am going with this.....Hands down Washington becomes a competitor in their division. (Every move they made has been better than ours.) Can we say this about the Bills?

You guys who are on the Bills bandwagon to success remember my screen name. I will remember yours as well. At the end of the season and seasons to come we will talk about what we said on this message board. I can say "without a doubt," and "beyond a "perpondurance of the evidence" I will be correct. Aren't you guys the same guys who were saying the same things when "Donadope," Malarky, Williams, Marv Levy the GM, and Juaron were hired???????? Be honest...You guys have bee saying the same f...ing thing for 10 years and counting. I am tired of hearing it! Wake the "F" up and stop believing each others lies and better yet the front office lies.. Why are you so afraid to hold this organization accountable for there 10 year debacle? What were you guys saying when we signed Terrel OWENS? Be honest...Now maybe you can see where I am coming from. Get your heads outta of your butts!!!!! Bottom line is this team is going to STINK and I mean STINK this year and mostly likely many years to come. We don't have the players!!!! All your optimism is based on what ifs and hopeful thinking...Chan can do this and do that. He doesn't have the horses guys and thats the bottom line. Compare any Bills players with any other team and tell me who is a standout outstanding player? Perhaps Lee Evans, (who isn't utilized because our QB, OL and other WR suck) Fred Jackson, Brian Moreman, and Jauris Byrd. Just look yourself in the mirror and examine yourself and this team objectively not subjectively! You will have no choice but to admit this year and next year the Bills will be NFL bottom dweelers/feeders. I HAVE TEN YEARS OF FACT BACKING UP WHAT I SAY. WHAT DO YOU GUYS HAVE????/A DREAM, A VISION, A HOPE WHAT A JOKE.... Now, let the hate mail begin. Mike a Bills lover forever. -
To Lv-Bills, Excellent post! I agree with 100% of what you said...The Bills have produced a shi_ product for ten years and people still don't seem to be outraged...Instead they keep singing the same ole tune for ten years straight. I am tired of reading the positive statements with little or no evidence and NO RESULTS. The evidence is there that this organization has sucked for ten years. That cannot be disputed...BILLS put up or shut up. Fans shut up with all the optimism and hold this team accountable. The problem is we are true diehard fans and we will always stick by are team...This causes many of us (not me) to stay in denial and overlook the facts. 10 years and counting......

I would love to paint a "rosey" picture for the upcoming season. I just can't do it. Based on past and present behavior/actions of this organization. I find it hard to believe that you guys can paint such optimism for the upcoming season. Are you guys in denial? Look at the holes...They are "HUGE"!!!!! Gailey is an upgrade compared to WILLIAMS, MARLARKEY, and JAURON. Is that saying much?... Gailey in my opinion doesn't have alot to work with. Guys he is not a mircle worker... Just wanted to cut and paste what John Clyton stated about the Bills. Just one opinion and I don't think he is the "God" of football knowledge. It seems like every analyst opinion has a similiar theme. It is so difficult to be optimistic when "every" football analyst from ESPN, NFL Network, FOX Sports, etc.. says very negative things about our team. I strongly agree with their assessments. Do all you optimists just disregard what they are saying? Are all of them are incorrect? They only do this for a living... I just wish one would say something good to give me a glimmer of hope. They are beating us up to no end and we have no ammo to fire back. Every on this board just reecks of false hope. Tell me what you guys think. Writes Clayton: 1. Buffalo Bills: No team had a greener offensive line last season than the Bills. ... All the Bills did to help the line was sign 33-year-old tackle Cornell Green. The Bills averaged a horrible 16.1 points a game on offense and did nothing to upgrade a quarterback corps filled by Trent Edward sand Ryan Fitzpatrick. The receiving corps lost 82 catches by not re-signing Terrell Owens and Josh Reed. The only replacement was fourth-round choice Marcus Easley, leaving Lee Evans with little around him. Owner Ralph Wilson was willing to pay a high salary for his new coach, and ended up with nice guy Chan Gailey, hardly a headliner. To make things even more challenging, the Bills switched to a 3-4 defense even though they didn't have a legitimate 3-4 outside linebacker or a nose tackle. They drafted nose tackle Torell Troup in the second round and hope that Broncos castoff Andra Davis and seldom-used Aaron Maybin can handle the tough outside linebacking jobs. Making matters worse, the Bills' three division rivals -- the Patriots, Jets and Dolphins -- had three of the best five offseasons. With those odds against them, the Bills won't need luck to be in position to draft either Jake Locker or Andrew Luck next year -

That is best case senario. I don't see that happening. I think we will win 4-6 games. Why? DEFENSIVELY New defensive scheme, still will not be able to stop the run and still will not put any pressure on the opposing QB. That is a recipe for losing... OFFENSIVELY Very weak at the QB and WR position. Offensive line that is pourous and won't be able to stop opposing rushing DE and LB. Lastly, Teams will stack the box and put 7-8 guys upfront and take away our running game. Then what... Recipe for losing... This board is about listening to others opinions and then giving your own opinion. I don't know why so many people take offensive to differing viewpoints. That is why I love this forum. Mike -
To ndirish78, Fantastic post. My feelings exactly...

I do not agree with everything you said. However, I am not here to fight with you or anyone else. In fact, I very much like the tone of this post because it is not demeaning or insultive. I have looked at my previous post and read what you have and others have said. I do belive I was somewhat unfair to the new regime. Perhaps, my lack of confidence in the organization and lots of built up frustration though the years... The thing that most bothered me Mark was when you refered to my first post as "moronic." I really felt that was unwarranted and uncalled for. That is why I singled you out and I do apologize for doing so. We have differing opinons but a common desire of wanting "our Bills" to win. So lets agree to disagree and learn from one another. Slinging mud is not productive. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike in San DIego

To Billsrcursed, Since you asked... (1) OWNER All starts with the owner named Ralph Wilson. He has not been able to or is unwilling to hire a quaility GM since the good ole days of Bill Polian. Most solid teams have high quaility GM. The Bills haven't had one in what 10 years plus. The problem is who wants to come to BUFFALO? Have to pay him a fortune to coach here and Ralph isn't going to do that. He wants to win but he is also a business man. (2) GM See above, need GM who can dictate, guide, envision, and unify. Have all personell and coaches on the same page. Look at Bill Bielicheck, Ossie Newsome, and Bill Parchells to name a few. Seems like their organizations are unified, built from the ground up, and have a philosphy/mold of players/belief in winning/ etc... Sounds like STEELER NATION to me. Unlike the Bills... (3) COACHING Look at the last two hires. Malarcky and Jauron. Hardly coaching jaurgnots. They have coaching quailities but not head coach material. Greg Williams from the Saints was a perfect example. Second tier coaching hires. Chan Gailey at least has taken a team to the playoffs and has two years of NFL head coaching experience. However, I think I could have coached that Cowboy team to the playoffs. I am not ready to give him too much credit. I actually feel sorry for him. Which leads me to my last point. (4) PLAYERS No matter how good a coach is he needs players. Best illustration is a race horse. A race horse can have the finest jockey in the world riding him. The horse will not win even with the finest rider is he is a crappy horse. However, the best horse can win even if he has a mediocore rider. Gailey doesn't have the players. This is not his fault. He will be blamed though. It is the organizatons fault for having no direction, no vision, no plan, no unity, ect...The holes are huge guys. No online, no d line, no pass rush, adequate linebackers, no QB, unproven tight ends, and one wide reciever. We have a strong kicking game, very good running backs and a excellent secondary. Not to mention a new defensive scheme. This all ends up to a very very poor season. Six wins at best or the next 3 years. The solution is long term 10 years and counting of disjointed poor organizational decisions. Don't know if I aswered your question. Mike

I can't help but to laugh when I read post from all you Bills fans who have such "high expectations" about the Bills future. Several of you guys slam anyone who has anything negative to say about the front office decisions, Bills as an organization, coaches decisions, and player personnel or lack of... Guys, I live in San Diego and I am a avid Bills fan. It is virtually impossible to defend "my Bills" when the San Diego fans mock the Bills. Why? Because this organization is a joke! Almost a fraud! Like the TO signing. What was that all about? Wake the "F" up! Why do we not hold this organization accountable for being one of the worst football organizations in ten years. Now, I know you (Mark) going to talk about our past record and our record isn't close to teams like St Luis, Detriot, Etc. I don't buy it...You can if you want. Instead, you guys talk about how the Bills are on the right path, I like where we are going, I like the coaches attitudes, I like this I like that. You guys have been saying the same old crap for ten years. I know I won't be able to change your minds. I am not trying too. But, don't you get tired of eating and smelling your own poop? I remember the Dick Jauron ban wagoners. He is a defensive guru, I like the way he communicates with his players, etc. The same goes for Malarkey and Donahoe. They are Pittsburg guys and winners. We are on the right path. Isn't that what you thought Mark? Watch and see in 3 years. You guys will be singing the same ole song over and over. For me the song is worn out, outdated, and out of tune... How can the Bills win with very weak lines on both sides, no QB, very weak WR, subpar linebackers, and a non exisistent pass rush. Not to mention, a new coaching staff and new defensive scheme. I ask how can you be so optimistic about the Bills future??? Positives good running backs, very good secondary, and excellent kickers. You think we can win 10 games on that? "You can't make shi_ smell like ice cream." How appropriate of a quote is this for the Buffalo Bills? Nevertheless, the sucker in me will defend the Bills, buy the Nfl ticket and watch them play every week. Once again my heart will be ripped to threads holding on to the hope that maybe just maybe one day in my lifetime we can win a superbowl. Is this asking too much from a team that goes way back to the AFL days. I just suppose I'm a pessimistic Bills fan tired of losing and hearing false hopes. If this was a stock I belive all of us would have sold the stock by now. Let the hate mail begin. Mike, a Bills realist.

I have always enjoyed reading Larry's articles. He is never afraid to express his opinions even if they aren't positive. We need more writers like him who hold the Bills organization accountable for their actions. Mike, Bills fan in San Diego. -

Mark you are taking my words out of context. To me a winning season doesn't equate to a successful season. 7 win seasons at GT wasn't good enough. End result he didn't produce. No big time bowl win either. Job didn't get done and he was fired. In Dallas, he went to the playoffs and lost. For Jerry Jones and the Cowboy fans getting to the playoffs and losing in the first round didn't cut it. End result he got fired. My intepretation of the facts are he couldn't win... Only time will tell who is right. I would love to eat crow and be wrong... Just don't think I am. Enough of this childess banter.
