  1. NO CHANCE PHIL TAYLOR IS AVAILABLE TO US IN R2 - NONE
  2. linval joseph a 3-4 end? that's hilarious. hes 6'4" and almost 330 lbs. hes a true NT! he isnt athletic enough to play a five technique! you're a bills rep for a draft site and don't know something so simple? wow
  3. actually sam adams was acquired in 2003 when dick lebeau was here as def coordinator and adams played the nose in his 3-4 (primarily), but you're right, they did have both williams and adams on the field at the same time, but having those two was an exceptional situation. no question, 3-4 nose tackles can play in either scheme, but the 4-3 DT guys are the more athletic ones, and are usually preferred in the 4-3 (ie. 2010 draft prospects suh, mccooy). NT's are big space eaters, with multiple gap responsibility and occupy as many blockers as possible, allowing the 4 linebackers to cover/attack, whatever their job on a particular play. i can assure you, guys like dan williams, mt. cody and cam thomas may be "good athletes," relative to their size (all 6'2"+ and over 325+ lbs), they are not built to attack/stunt the way guys like warren sapp, tommie harris or even suh and mccoy do. check sack stats, the numbers probably back it up (i think so, i haven't checked to be honest). dan williams, cam thomas and mt. cody are all huge through the trunk, they don't have a very athletic build, even for a big man. and you're right, LT is the best pass-rushing OLB ever - 6'3" 237 lbs
  4. owens is 6'1" 304 and projects the same way kyle williams does, a 3-4/4-3 tweener from a DE/NT standpoint, much the same way luis castilla does in SD, and will be a late second - late third round pick. he's a better 4-3 DT or 3-4 DE. Dan williams, is 6'2" 327 and projects as a true 3-4 NT, especially considering his massive trunk, a build similar to casey hampton. cam thomas does project as an early-mid second round NT, but owens will not be manning the 3-4 NT spot at 304 lbs. your comparison of Dan Williams = a 4-3 DT trapped in a 304 DE's body would actually be more accurate if you swapped dan williams for jeff owens. dan williams will probably be reached for by somone, maybe our bills, but with half of the league now employing a 3-4, there is now a premium placed on guys that can play a true NT spot, and their value will continue to rise. dan williams and john mccargo are nothing alike, not from their position played to their strength/weakness, to their build, nothing. i like cam thomas a lot, saw him dominate against mike iupati during senior bowl week, and iupati is supposed to be the best/nastiest guard (potential tackle) in the draft.
  5. i read a ton as well, and i consistently see bradford, clausen, mccoy, skelton, jarrett brown, tony pike, jevan snead and tim tebow rated in front of him. a pass happy scheme, similar to the one tebow ran, where the offense lines up in shotgun (of course) and the coach signals the plays in from the sidelines doesnt allow for a solid translation of those skills to the NFL. he never lined up under center, took a pre-snap read on the defense and got the team out of bad plays into good one, made sight adjustments with the WR's, etc. coaches did all of that for him throughout his college career. combine these with the fact that he has been inaccurate throughout the pre-draft process and you have a third-fifth round prospect. im not saying he wont be drafted early, im saying if he is its a reach. hes a project player at best. http://www.draftinsider.net/blog/?p=1588 "Opinions are mixed on the throwing workout of quarterback Dan LeFevour. His short and intermediate passes were solid but LeFevour struggled throwing the ball downfield. Receivers were slowing up in their routes to catch the ball and in some instances out-running LeFevours deep passes altogether. One of the participants told us LeFevour had been throwing the ball well in the practices leading up to the pro-day workout and may have been a little to pumped up once the lights went on for pro-day." i personally like him, in the 4th or 5th round, i think he does a lot of what tebow does, but is more of a natural quarterback, needs to learn the footwork/mechanics of being under center, and probably needs work breaking down def's, going through his reads, etc **additional word from his pro day is that he chose to throw to very few moving targets, a fact that was not lost amongst scouts in attendance**
  6. wow good point, here's another respected site: http://draftinsider.net/rankings *10th rated quarterback *6th round prospect *Overrated signal caller with marginal throwing mechanics and intangibles. Passes with an inconsistent motion, does not throw tight spirals and usually has receivers waiting on the ball. Sensational athlete but needs a lot of work on his throwing mechanics. you can find anything said about any of these guys. mcshay hates clausen and says he'll fall out for first round. its all someones opinion, not "research"
  7. he has been relatively healyth, recently, but still has averaged missing 2-3 games/year since taking over as a full-time starter. to even consider moving the 9th or 40th pick for him is delusional. he's 33 and plays an average of 13-14 games a year for you? no thanks. a franchise, particularly one that hasn't been to the playoffs in ten years, needs to hit on early picks and have those players contribute for the next ten years. to offer up either slot for a guy that has, at best, three productive years left is dumb. he may play until he's 39, but he'll only be productive until 36-37. this bills team isn't going anywhere this year, regardless of the quarterback. i bet nix is going to turn over 60% or more of the roster, and to do that quickly and effectively, the way it appears tuna has done in miami. get a young guy through the draft (skelton? mccoy? jarrett brown?) whomever you like and let him sit and learn for a bit. we will see about chan's ability to grrom qb's, and he'll get to pick his own. his wagon will be hitched to the qb he selects, assuming he picks him in rounds 1-3. dick/trent, volume II? lets hope not. if we were to trade for kolb, whom the philadelphia enquirer reports the price tag has dropped as well, i may consider a second round selection. at 25, he has flashed incredible ability, but made some bad throws, as expected from a young qb. he scares me a bit, like rob johnson did, but a trade of #40 and maybe whitner for kolb would interest me, but i dount that would interest the eagles. certainly, one could justify #41 and whitner for kolb over any of these potential mcnabb scenarios. i'd offer whitner and a 4th or 5th for mcnabb, and i would still draft a guy in rounds 1-3. philly wouldn't consider that either. just wait around an grab whichever one of the three gets cut, reid knows he cant carry all three into the season, and his insinuation that he can is simply lip-service and smokescreens to maintain what little leverage the franchise has with vick/mcnabb. i really doubt kolb is going anywhere!
  8. and mcnabb has missed 24 games, since becoming full-time starter, averaging out to roughly 3 games per year
  9. anyone who thinks an aging, diminishing quarterback is worth a first round pick, especially #9 is crazy. i wouldn't offer more than a third rounder for him. why would you want to bring mcnabb in here and waste the 2-3 remaining years of production he has left (if healthy, of course) on a re building team? then when your team is ready to win, after 2-3 strong drafts, you're reverting back to a young, inexperienced quarterback, which would hinder the teams progress. i hope they build the team the rght way, through the draft, and are competitive for years to come, not just a couple years. now here's hoping ralph is around to see the transformation!
  10. a third round or better for lynch, hahaha, thats funny...please, be realistic
