  1. I believe that is the point of tendering them, seeing as how they put a round grade on them. Essentially saying, "Hey, if you want em, this is what you gotta give us."

I haven't kept up with this, so Gaither has a 1st round tender on him?

Give this man a blank check to sign here. Gaither, Smith and Jamal Williams would be an awesome offseason.

I would agree except it looks like that would mean we lose our 1st rounder which I definitely don't want.

  2. So, Ellison was tendered. Big whoop. I don't see why people are making such a big deal out of this. Sure he may not be starting material but like others have said he does play with heart and is a decent backup player. Tendering him is actually smart because now he has some trade value and if they don't deal him he can be kept as valuable depth and/or used on special teams.

Personally, I don't LOVE the guy but I don't HATE him either and I don't see where people are getting this feeling. Like stated before, he was a 6th round pick who has played well. He's not a stud, but he is worth something.

  3. What is up with all the ND stuff. They suck. We sucked last year! Doesn't make sense you want us all to suck together. I like Toby Gerhart but I like Lynch better. Him and Jackson are a great tandom why change it up. And if you want Clausen in the first why would you get Tebow late if he falls? I am just saying.

Just because ND didn't have a stellar record doesn't mean that Tate or Clausen are any less of players. Personally, I like Golden Tate, not sold on Clausen though.

I also really like Gerhart but I don't see the Bills justifying drafting him unless they deal ML.

  4. The word when they made the offer was that it was part of the deal, and the only way he was going to leave Pittsburgh. The GM in Pittsburgh is almost as young, and not going anywhere. Buffalos offer was the best option for him cause of Nix's age and that they wanted him as the 'GM of the future"

Ah, okay. I wasn't aware of Pittsburgh's situation, but it makes more sense now.

  5. Fully agree;

    Bulaga is the most NFL-ready.

Campbell is the young physical phenom with impressive combine who "could" be the next Jason Smith. Sound like Maybin?

Davis has the weight, power, arm width but is more raw than Bulaga--possibly more upside.

I suspect at worst 1 of these 3 will be there at #9.

I love this analysis. I think the Bills need the guy who will be an immediate impact, which is Bulaga. Anyone of them has a good shot of being a good LT, but if we get our choice, I would want Bulaga.

  6. Personally, I've never heard of the guy before. But this article speaks highly of him so I wouldn't mind at all if the Bills at least took a look at him. If Schobel retires and we can't sign a decent OLB in FA, OLB will be a priority in the draft for sure and this guys sounds like he would fit in well with our needs.

  7. Please tell me when you have ever seen this happen with any team.

Sorry if you didn't catch that hint of sarcasm. I know how hard that will be, that is why I want the Bills to stay put and draft their LT.

The Bills might be able to get the Lions pick by trading their first and ML to the Lions. The Lions could then give up Maurice Morris to help them get AC. That's the only way I can see this playing out. If Buffalo gives up a slew of DP's to the Lions I'll be really PO'd.

I would be PO'd as well. I just really don't like the notion of moving up, but that's me.

  8. Trade up. So let me ask this....when do we get that Franchise QB? You expect us to have a top 2 pick next year? If we are even worse than this year and have say the 7th pick next year, it still isn't enough to get a 'franchise' QB. So at one point do you pull the trigger and trade UP and get one?

IMHO... you do so after the O-line is set, then you get your guy. I think that the Jets are a great example of this. Not only did their great O-line help Sanchez but it fueled their running game as well, taking some pressure off of Sanchez.

So, maybe next year if we feel better about the O-line then we trade up and get our franchise guy. (a la the Jets)

  9. Houston could definitely use another RB like Spiller to take some pressure off of Slaton, so I agree with Astrobot that that's a bad move. And I also don't like that Miami gets him

Bryant probably will go too early...how funny would it be if Oakland took him?

Plus, I like that we are getting Bulaga

  10. Thank you. Personally, I wouldn't want this to happen since it would most likely cost draft picks and we need them all, but if Nix really likes Bradford then I'll trust him. We better get a good LT in FA then if that's the route we are going to take, unless we want to get our guy in the 2nd.

  11. I know, I know...you all want links...but take this into consideration....

All the teams that made the playoffs had average to above average Offensive Lines.

Buffalo was way below average due to all the injuries sustained.

If your QB is getting hit on a 5 step drop consistently before he hits step 5. How do you expect him to be effective?

If he is constantly being harrassed, he will constantly dump it off.

I highly doubt TE, RF, and BB all have a similar checkdown attitude. But if you keep getting rear ended, you are going to alter your approach.

So, in my personal opinion, Buffalo will NOT draft a QB in the top 5 rounds of the draft. They will, however, take 1 OT in the first round, a DT in the 2nd round, and then stock up on backup players for OT and LBs during the next 3 rounds.

oh yeah...i know i dont have many 'posts', but i tend to read these and not reply the 1 liners like most.

I think like you. I would rather take a LT in the first to help any QB stay on his feet. Hopefully, the Bills feel the same way. The only way, however, I see them trying to grab a QB in the 1st possibly is if they sign some great OTs in FA.

  12. Give Buddy and his team two offseasons and I bet things are looking a lot better. This is the first time in a long time we seem to have someone in charge who has a clear idea about what he want to do and how he wants to do it.

I agree with you. He seems to be thinking ahead and has a plan. How well he executes this plan will determine his worth. But I am of the camp that thinks he will work out.

  13. Its obvious the Bills and us fans want a franchise QB.

There have been many threads started about this such as drafting Clausen, Bradford, Trading up, moving down, LeFefour (sp) in round 3, McNabb, Derek Anderson, Campbell

    My question is this,

IF we draft a QB in round 3 are we really planning to make that QB our fanchise player? I know mid round picks have worked out before but Im talking about mindset here. Do they think it will be a temp fix and draft a round 1 QB next year?

I don't have the link, but in another thread someone illustrates the statistics on current franchise QBs and the round they are taken in. Besides Tom Brady, all franchise caliber QBs were taken in the 1st and 2nd round with Brees and Favre being the only 2 in the 2nd.

That being said, if the Bills do draft another 3rd rounder like Edwards, I think there isn't much hope for him to become a franchise guy. This doesn't mean he will be terrible, just not the long-term guy we all want.

  14. I'll admit that I know nothing about this kid, but the fact that he couldn't stick with 5 different clubs is all I need to know.

It's not like he was announced as the starting NT. Just bringing him in to compete does no harm. Who knows? He could fit in with George Edwards' system and be an asset. Nothing is guaranteed at this point so there is no problem in exploring your options.

  15. Whaley very well might turn out to be the best hire this team has made over the past 20 years. Anyone who wanted an up and coming GM with youth on his side might have their prayers answered in this guy. Obviously too early to tell but Whaley has seen the right way on how to get things done and I would not be surprised if he was GM within 3 years.

He left the Steelers because he wanted to start building from the ground level so look for him to really make his mark on the Buffalo Bills over the next couple years. Hopefully he takes his knowledge that he has learned from others around him and turns out to be the diamond in the rough that Buffalo has been looking for since Polian left.

Agreed. I think Whaley has great potential as a GM and hope that he takes over for Nix in the near future. Nothing against Nix, I would just like to see Whaley pan out.
