He's missed so much time and still dominated at the position, don't see him going much longer, could be his last year.
-
Our D is playing too well, we can fluke into some wins as usual. This looks like a Dick Jauron special.

@26CornerBlitz Thanks for doing this homie, always appreciate your contribution to the board!

Tyrod with this D, 4-2 not out of the question.

You honestly think Allen would be playing like Mahomes right now if he was on the Chiefs?
Folks love to delude themselves. If they can't see the difference between the two there's no real point in even discussing it. The Grand Canyon currently separates the two in terms of skill set.

Allen isn't even in the same hemisphere, that's what an athletic QB with a big arm looks like.
I know he has better players around him, but Mahomes makes a lot of **** happen. That throw to Hunt, dude was tracked as running 13mph while making that throw downfield, sick. STUD!

For every guy like Goff who got significantly better after year 1, there are at least 5 guys who didn't get better and went on to be complete busts.
Allen might be Goff, or he might be EJ Manuel, Kyle Boller, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsey, JP Losman, Josh Freeman, Paxton Lynch, Blaine Gabbert, Brandon Weeden, Christian Ponder, Johnny Manziel, Jake Locker, Christian Hackenberg, Geno Smith, Jimmy Clausen, Brian Brohm, etc, etc, etc.
Most QBs don't work out. The vast majority of QBs who were terrible year 1 don't go on to be successful franchise players.
Everyone always likes to point out the outlier, when they don’t want to believe the most likely outcome/event is much more probable. Humans tend to be overconfident in that way, the event that will benefit them is much more likely to happen in their minds even though probability suggests otherwise. Can it happen, yeah it can. Is it likely, no.

So glad we have QB guru David Culley working with him.
And world class QB whisperer Daboll also aiding.
Now it is complete with Big Arm inaccurate Mentor Anderson in the fold.
All the mentoring in the world won’t turn him around.

Technically speaking, 84 yards in 3ish quarters IS progress over 82 yards in 4. Having three fingers is also better than having none, but it still isn't good.
Got a good laugh from this.
totally agree with you. Bar is so low that folks will take any positive event as a good sign. I’ve seen enough from both of our QBs, I’d like a new one....

I thought that was pretty well established. McDermott made the picks using the draft board Whaley and his scouts assembled.
McDermott called the shot. Whaley knew at least a month before the draft that he was out. Up thread someone linked a Ben Albright tweet to this effect, Albright is usually well connected. He called Allen to Bills and Mayfield to Browns well before this years draft.
28 minutes ago, 26CornerBlitz said:The word is that both Pegula and Whaley wanted QB with Mahomes and Watson high on the list. McDermott wrested control of the football operations and instead decided to make the deal to trade with KC.
I remember LaConfora reporting that Pegula loved Mahomes, wanted the QB/Mahomes, but ultimately the trigger was pulled by Doug Whaley and Pegula/McDermott stayed out of it. Not sure that LaConfora is reliable, but there's so many angles. Hope we truly find out.

One day we will find out what really happened during the 2017 draft, who ran it, who called the shot, and whether it truly !@#$ed this organization for another decade.

This is Favre like play making.
Dude just has it. Great at improvising. -
To put in perspective. Josh Allen attempted 649 passes in college football, Mahomes attempted 1349. Mahomes had more games as freshman, but Mahomes was in such a pass heavy offense that his attemps still dwarfed Allen's. Lots of reps.
-
Mahomes had a ton of reps in college, this kid through the ball so much, that really helped him. Complete stud, and has the coaching to boot.

I share many of the same concerns, but I'm very much willing to wait until his surrounding circumstances improve before "passing" any judgment.
I respect you homie, and anyone else who feels that way, and I don't want to **** on anyone who feels this way, I try to stay out of the debate as much as I can, but I feel like I've seen this before and I'm making a decision based on my passed experiences.
I won't actively cheer for Allen's demise, I'll cheer for him, but I know how this story will end.

Done with him?
Wow. That was quick. Imagine how many good QBs would never have been good if they were given up on 4 whole games into their career.
Like I said, I hated the selection of Allen, complete reach job, almost as bad as EJ.
This front office !@#$ed us this past offseason, they had all the tools available and they went mad. I've watched football for 30 years, I know trash when I see it. Allen was **** in college, he's going to be **** on a ****ty Bills team, and in all likelihood won't develop into a high tier QB. Feel free to save my posts and throw them back at me if he ever develops, in the meantime I have no hope for him, kid will just be another on a long list.

This simply isn't true. There's a difference between lack of talent and being raw.
That's fine, the kid has some athletic talent, arm strength, but lacks accuracy and has a history of poor decision making. He lacks QB talent, he simply can't throw the ball to spots consistently, doesn't anticipate well, and his amateur history showed this to be true.
I'm done with him, I never liked the pick, you don't take someone with that kind of risk in the first round, your first rounders need to be starters, and Allen is as raw as they come. You want to take a project QB that needs to sit, fine, do it on the 2nd day, not day 1, and certainly don't trade up for him. He'll never develop here, and I doubt he would have developed anywhere.
-
I agree with this but when Allen continues to fail everyone will give him a pass due to lack of talent, when Allen lacks talent himself.
I've seen enough of Allen to realize he's going to go 1 of 2 ways. JP Losman, or Tyrod Taylor, that's his floor and ceiling respectively.

Does Tre follow the opposing WR1? Asking for a friend and his Adams concerns for next week. If he follows Adams, Adams ain’t playing on my team.
He followed Allen and Diggs in the first half.

TCU has a great coaching staff too, that D is well prepared, they had a good shot at winning but a series of second half errors cost them the game.
-
Listen, the Chargers faced this problem when they drafted Brees in the 2nd round and he didn't develop fast enough, they moved on with Rivers, but Brees exploded that same year. It seemed like less of a risk, because Brees was a 2nd rounder, but a sunk cost is a sunk cost. Pick the best players and let them compete.
Honestly, I don't have a single !@#$ing problem with taking a QB again, really don't. Personally I think Allen was a reach, so I don't expect much from him, but he's going to get the full year and if he doesn't show improvement and this team is drafting near the top then you bet your ass they better consider another QB, only other guy on the roster is Peterman....
If you hit on both trade one, it's a good problem to have. Draft the best player and if it happens to be a QB so be it, let them fight and pick the best one. Honestly, Allen is going to flame out, book it. This is what will happen with the Bills, you all know it. 2019 first overall, we pass on a stud QB, Allen never materializes and we're !@#$ed for another decade.
-
Stop giving Beane credit for Poyer/Hyde or the 2017 draft, give credit to the scouts, they were the ones writing the reports on these guys. All of them were terminated after the 2017 draft, along with Whaley.
Beane will be following them after the 2019 season, at best 2020, he signed his fate this offseason with his poor signings, and misuse of draft assets. Dude is a dead man walking.
-
Throwing wheel routes to the FB for TDs, hahahaha.
-
Terrible trade, hated it at the time, dude will have a tough time signing a long term deal anywhere.
