  1. CJ depends on being completely healthy (which he was not last season hampered by a bad ankle) and a good OL (which we did not have last year). With a good OL and good health, he is better than FJ in my opinion. Freddy is Freddy regardless of his health and how good or bad our line is. Solid runner that will get you solid yards on every carry and heart that just don't find on every team.

Spiller was healthy in 2012 and we had a better line that year as well, result: much better performance. Huge plays every game, very few negative or 0 yard runs. He was sliding though holes and making cuts that he just couldn't do last year.

Also, we had a pretty conservative playbook last year with EJ et. all at the helm, this allowed Ds to play more run D than before IMO.

Spiller is a special talent, Freddy is a special all around person / leader / player. Hope we have them both for a few more years at least.

CJ may be a special talent, but he's not a special player. He really needs to stay on the field this year.
  2. Reading what some of you whiners have to say is almost more frustrating than being a Bills fan. What did you expect? Home opener against Hutch-Tech?

And stop it about the prime time games. The NFL is being paid over a billion dollars for their prime time product and doesn't look to their perennial 6-10 teams (from small markets) for ratings. So please…I mean PUHLEEEEASE!!!

  3. The OP said 40 or later JPS...Follow the rules or risk being disqualified... :P

And Aaron Murray is most definitely outside the top 40 on most boards... B-)

I accept the disqualification knowing that Aaron Donald is a beast and my man crush is sincere.
  4. Why can't I have a man crush on a top 40 guy? i.e. Aaron Donald. I'm a big fan of sure things and regardless of need, he's the surest thing in this draft. I'm not sure Aaron Murray is outside the top 40, but I do like him. Other than that, Best Aaron Available.

  5. Seriously, if they took Fuller in the 1st, I am done. No one franchise can own that much stupidity and spread it across several management regimes.

It's just not possible. My guess is…it's the smokescreen to get Pittsburgh or another team to trade up to 9 for a CB.

  6. I just cannot see people like Terry and Kim Pegula, Tom Golisano, Jeremy Jacobs, Bob Rich, Chuck Schumer, Roger Goodell etc. letting this happen.

I also believe (hope) that Mary Wilson (trust) will sell the team to people who want to keep the team in Buffalo to the extent those offers are in the approximate range of offers from out-of-town interests.

    Just my two cents.

    well said
  7. I'll go off topic, hopefully won't derail the thread.

(I said much the same thing in another thread this morning) Hackett had to be overwhelmed last year. First year as an NFL OC. QB's dropping like flies. No QB coach. No majordomo to whisper in his ear. He now has Hostler as majordomo and Dowling as QB coach.

I expect (with consistent QB play) to see the offense grow by leaps and bounds this season. The o-line needs another starter. WR and/or TE will be further addressed in the draft. They added to RB depth in FA and they'll do more in the draft.

Better weapons, better protection, better running lanes, better passing lanes, better field position (core special teamers), better play calling...

    6-10……..ahhhh I'm just kidding.
  8. It is up to the estate to accept or decline bids. Then it is up to the league to approve of the sale. If the Bills and the league show no loyalty to Buffalo, I would be shocked, saddened and determined never to spend another dollar on the NFL.

    I guess that…and a quarter….

  9. John Murphy@JohnMurphyShow 44s

Complete audio: Tony Moeaki: "I have everything to prove" http://ow.ly/2FNG40

I listened to the whole interview. He sounded ….how do I say this in todays world…uh…intellectually challenged. This team is a much better team if Moeaki is a bonus rather than a necessity. I say draft someone….and after hearing interview with Sefarian-Jenkins I would ecstatic if he landed in Buffalo. Then again, I've never seen him play. Can he play?
  10. The Bills are not going to take a running back in the 2nd round. They will need one eventually- maybe next year- and they can take one then. They do not need a 3rd string running back in 2014. They can just as easily take next year's Carlos Hyde in 2015. Lord knows there will always be serviceable running backs to draft.

Spiller is gone next year and Freddy is old. Are you sure?
  11. And if they miss the playoffs yet again, how stupid would that look?

And if Manziel is the next Franchise QB they pass over, how stupid . . .

And if they take Manziel, he wins the job, and makes the playoffs, how smart would that look?

If. And a big if. If we are one player away from the playoffs, its QB. Ya gotta swing for the fences at QB. If you dont have one, nothing else matters.

(and I know Whaley wont. He wont admit a mistake so soon. But I would love Manziel. And I wanted EJ soooooo bad last year. But the reality is, we still dont have a QB).

I'm sorry. How stupid would that BE….

You spend a 1st round pick on a guy, give him the keys from day 1, then abandon him after about 7 starts?

Drafting a QB in the 1st round is especially stupid this year because:

    1. There is no QB that is clearly better than what you have

    2. The Bills have questions at RT, RG, LG, TE and WR on offense and RDE, OLB, MLB and FS on defense (1 year bandaid FA's notwithstanding), and

    3. You effectively trash a major commitment you made less than a year ago…a move that reeks of incompetence and would resonate as such with every player in the locker room, every person in the building and anyone who knows anything about football.

Take Murray in the 3rd. Wait till you have a better feel with Manuel. Taking a QB this year in the 1st round sets the Bills further back and virtually guarantees they would not get to the playoffs.

  12. Normally I would agree, however Ol' Buddy put this team in such a bad situation re: QB by ignoring year after year, that they

are in a position to draft QB and if not this year, fine, but next year then.

I'm talking 1st rounder. If they want to hedge their bets with a 2nd or 3rd rounder this year, then fine. But if they took Manziel this year and EJ last year, how stupid would that look?
  13. Theres a difference between being "cocky" and being supportive. The song in a nutshell basically says: We're a fan base that will support our team in any weather ( literally and metaphorically). Whats cocky about that? RIP Ralph Wilson and Prayers for JK- whats cocky about that? The closest thing on the song to Cocky is when I said that our offense and Defense would be grade A. What fan doesn't want that? We all want that whether if we like the terms "Bills Mafia" or not.

Oh…in that case….I hate the song. Then again, I hate Shout too.
