the problem is none of the WRs have any idea where and when the ball is going to come. I know it's frustrating to see drops, but none of them decided the game like the QBs mistakesSo Watkins sucks because EJ does? Got it.
-
perfect. Classic! He will turn it around and when he does....look out. We'll have teams clammoring to sign him. So it makes sense to sign him long term right now. I'd say sign him for 8 years but that might not fly...so 5 years/$75mill sounds reasonable. He would be locked in and we'll have a star in 2-3 more years on the cheap.

I don't care if Pee Wee Herman was playing guard. Nothing can distract me from the tragically poor play from our starting QB. I thought the Bills looked like they could run...and should have more. But 4 or 5 horrible misses on 3rd down, a pick 6 and game ending pick are all I need to see right now.
-
Still...believers. Amazing.

If you can't pin THIS on EJ, you never will.Well EJ sure hasn't looked good these past few games, I find it really hard to pin it on him. The offensive line has been absolutely terrible and so has the running game.
He missed wide open WRs with clean pockets, failed repeatedly in clutch situations and fed the JJ Watt media machine.
It's time, my friend.

EJ will NEVER be a Franchise QBrepeat after me.....
EJ will NEVER be a Franchise QB.

COL (cry out loud) this QB.LOL this thread.
-
C'mon. Are we still preaching patience? Forget the 7 point gift and 10 point swing. His decisions are wrong and he is just not an NFL thrower. I don't know how much evidence you need.
Can't believe the Bills are losing to this crap team.

Answers:Why destroy the Spygate tapes?
Why try to add games given the concussion research?
Why add a Thursday game knowing it puts player's at greater chance for injury?
IT's not like this is the first questionable thing Goodell has done. A lot of people would have been fired for similar mistakes. He doesn't hold himself to the same standard that he holds the rest of the league.
1. Money
2. Money
3. Money
Goodell is the "CEO" of a business than just commanded 1.4 Billion dollars for one of its LEAST valuable franchises. I'm sure he doesn't make this stuff up, but I have no idea on the real answers. Neither do you, Simmons or any of the thousands of others who are sure he should be dumped. I can't even feign outrage.
-
Oh yeah. His job is easy. Suspending people in advance of legal process and coming up with policies and procedures that work with the federal laws and those of about 30 states. No problem.
Simmons is just one of thousands of sideline parrots who know everything based on nothing.

I'm suggesting 2 MORE weeks of struggling. There's no reason EJ should struggle against Houston (other than JJ Watt going up against Henderson). But if he does and looks bad against an improved Lions D, I wonder how long they let it go before they feel it's better to get him out of there for a spell.2 Thoughts:
I think it takes more than 2 weeks of struggling to get any starter replaced.
It is different for a QB because he's touching the ball on every play, and needs to be in synch with his WRs, OL, RBs, etc. Depending upon the type of player, the entire offense may need to be modified to suit the new QB's skill set.
Again, the team is 2-1 right now; are we supposed to think that a 2-2 record is bench-worthy for a QB that has started 14 games (and gone 6-8)?
-
Here's a question: IF the Bills lose the next 2 and EJ plays poorly, then what? Ride it out or see what Orton could do?
If Gilmore struggled for 2 weeks, I think you'd see Graham/McKelvin. If Henderson struggled, I think you'd see a move. Why is it different for a QB?
-
God forbid you have a contrary opinion.Let's play over/under
Percent of posters who came to this thread with an open mind, who then, through thoughtful and measured discourse had their opinion evolve.
I'm setting it at 0.5%
And I'm taking the under.
I am open to EJ improving to the point of being serviceable. But I think the biggest Bills fan would have to admit to seeing more to be worried about than to be excited about. Great...or even good QBs usually do something well early on despite the expected interceptions and poor record. I just haven't seen much that separates EJ from anyone. Throw, run, read, anticipate? I'd think you would see signs of it and they are too few and far between for, well, most people that watch football.
-
no no no. Any time EJ Manuel is mentioned, it must appear at the end of this thread.....forever.....It might be time to put this thing out of it's misery. Of course, what's the record for longest thread? This has to be in the running,
-
And they'll be near last place AGAIN next year even if they get either of St. Connor or St. Jack. But yeah...back to football. Saying Pegula's "patience" with Regier paid off because they now suck enough to draft a generational talent is just illogical. I wouldn't base any expected patience that.
-
Really?? They are projected to be a last place team....again. Great plan.
-
Well, I agree on the prospect front and the possibility of a good future. But you can't ignore Pegula's house cleaning and a couple of tragically bad teams. Maybe Pat Lafontaine is available?
-
Regardless of whether it's wise, I don't think you can ignore the change in ownership as a factor on how this team is managed this year. Fair or not. Smart or Stupid. Orton is here to play if EJ doesn't play well enough to win.
EJ's salary in 2014 is $1.2M. Orton's is $5M.
How did Pegula's patience work out with the Sabres?
-
The Bills are not paying Orton 4X EJ's salary because they think he holds the clip board better than Tuel. If the Bills go ofer on this 2 game road trip and EJ looks bad at home early on 10/12, I think you'd see Orton at some point in that game.
Marrone is on a 1 year audition for Pegula. So is Whaley. Winning is way more important than his development, imo. So I'm circling 10/12.
-
So the choice is between a QB who was never good enough to be considered a "has been" and a never will be.
Hell, Trent Edwards showed more than EJ. Fitz showed more than EJ. Give him as much time as you want. I've seen all I need to. He is NOT an NFL QB.
-
I will read about 10-15 pages if it's a hot topic. But if it's a recycled and leftover from last week, I may check out the last page, but usually just skip it.
Depends who the posters are how logically based the posts are.
I hate long threads.
-
It is clear to me there is no use to even read these threads anymore unless you want to B word and moan about who sucks, how bad, why, Sullivan and Schopp suck, etc. Maybe when they actually PLAY a game, the subject matter will change.
God forbid they win the Bears game.....this hysterical board will have them going to the Superbowl.
-
How 'bout this: 1st play - Bills go jumbo with Urbik in as 3rd TE. Fred in backfield. Goodwin out right. Play action bomb to Goodwin. 80 yard TD. Since they haven't shown it, it can only mean they're setting up for it. The Bills are just setting up the Bears. All this incompetence is just a show.
How's that for Koolaid?
-
Week 4 pre season games are nearly useless. They match up really well against Chicago.
I'm trying....
A Few Thoughts About The Game, in no particular order.....

I had an admittedly extreme thought with a not so obvious answer: If the Bills decide he's not the guy and cut him, would he find work in the NFL?
