  1. Good work. The O-line gets too much blame for the troubles behind center.

Well, 48 sacks and 108 QB hits on 522 attempts isn't exactly stellar. It's not all on the QB either. That's at least QB pressure on nearly a third of all passing plays.

Out of all of those stats, I found it astonishing that the Bills had over 520 rushing attempts.

  2. On a team with a suspect O-line and a defense that could not stop the run (castoff signings notwithstanding), I just don't get the logic of taking a guy who is going to be in on 6-10 plays per game……especially after you just gave a big contract to a WR and spent two 3s and a 2 on promising WRs. #9 is going to be an OT or my name ain't Nathan Arizona!

  3. At 9? Neither. I think O-Line is most likely the pick, but I wouldn't discount Cinton-Dix IF he is the playmaker that Byrd was. If they were willing to throw $7M at Byrd, I think the Bills would be open to drafting the right safety.

I'd be shocked if the Bills took the WR.

  4. First of all…I LOVE THESE THREADS!! Thanks for bringing it.

I watched half of that clip and I see 3 things:

    1. He's got plenty of arm. He can zip it when he needs to. The reason he put so much air under the ball was his WRs were WIIIIDE open. That leads to the problems….

    2. He seemed to always have a clean pocket, which doesn't happen on Sundays…and

    3. His WRs were so open it's hard to tell how accurate he is.

All that being said, the last DII QB to come out and have a meaningful NFL career was Jon Kitna out of Cental Washington, I think. I guess you never know. But I fully expect the Bills to take a QB between rounds 4-7.

  5. Who cares about the Saints? It's the Bills that look like fools right now. The Jags turned Blaine Gabbert into a 6th round pick, meanwhile the Bills let a 3 time pro-bowl asset walk out the door to a title contender without getting anything in return. The Bills lost today, and loudly.

The Saints are a joke (ask Seattle) and moves like this are desperate moves that will more likely bring them down than prop them up.
  6. Good teams figure out how to sign their good players. The Bills have mastered the art of drafting for the same position year after year after year. This team continues to be irrelevant. March on to mediocrity Buffalo, maybe by 2020 we will get that far.

    I partially agree with you.

Good teams figure out how to sign their players to reasonable contracts BEFORE they peak in value. By the time Levitre was a FA….by the time Byrd is a FA, it's too late. His cost is way more than his value. Either one.

  7. What a dumb deal for NO!. My guess is it's a 3 year deal for $28 M and the Saints will have buyers remorse in 2015. He'll be released in 2017. Today's free agent winners are tomorrows losers.

Unless you are a total homer, you can not see this as anything but total ineptitude on the Bills part. Anyone with a brain knew he was going to get paid top dollar. Nix decided two years ago he wasn't going to pay Byrd when he drafted those two safeties. And now his little disciple let the plan play out.

If you are standing behind the Bills you are choosing Buddy Nix's judgment over Sean Payton's and Mickey Loomis'? I will trust the guys that have actually won in this league.

Total bush league. Bills simply can not compete.

    wah…..
