  1. I'm surprised John Wendling was cut. I think he's one of the best special teamers out there. A borderline talent at safety, but a heck a teams player
  2. Watching Superbowl XXV on NFL Network. Leonard Marshall just got a roughing the passer call on Jim Kelly with a cheap shot. The week before he knocked Joe Montana out of the NFC championship game and his career was never the same. This guy is a menace. Dirty friggin Parcells and Belichek disciple. On a more positive note...it's nice to see the Bills play some solid football. I forgot what that's like on a consistent basis.
  3. I agree with the trading down if they don`t get the player they want at the 9th pick. This team needs as many quality round draft picks as possible to get this team moving in the right direction.
  4. I wanted to get some feedback on what people thought if all the top tackles in this years draft (Okung, Davis, Bulaga, Williams) were gone by the time the Bills pick. Do you go for Bruce Campbell? I hear a bit of a reach at 9? A lot of mock drafts have us taking Dan Williams NT or Jimmy Clausen QB. From the information that I have read, Williams might be a reach at 9 and I think Jimmy Clausen is really overrated and already heard some analysts compare him to J.P. Losman (YIKES!!!). So who do we pick? At this point do we just take the best player on the board? I have a feeling the Bills could even go after a guy like C.J. Spiller if he is still there. I know we have solid depth at the position but he may be too special of a player to pass up. Draft Analysts are comparing him to Chris Johnson and everyone thought the Titans were off by picking him in the first round, he is the best player from that draft so far. I could also see Gailey going after one of his old Georgia Tech players like Derrick Morgan or Demaryius Thomas. I just wanted to throw it out there and get some ideas from people. GO BILLS!!!
  5. Kyle Williams is too good of a player to trade. He is the type of player you find a spot for, whether it would be as a DE or NT, hey maybe even safety (kidding)...hehehehe. This team needs as many good players as possible and Kyle Williams is a really solid player that has underrated physical ability.
  6. Good to see that we finally signed some quality free agents in Andra Davis and Dwan Edwards. They are not splashy but they should be able to contribute next year and help the depth of this team.
  7. I wouldn't touch Javon Walker with a 30 foot pole...this guy is damaged goods, beyond repair...bad attitude, injuries, mental issues (was in the same car when Darrent Williams was shot) a very light shadow of his former self
  8. Man, what's been going on with the Bills this offseason. Is it just me or do things seem to be moving slower than usual. I'm all for not overspending on mediocre talent in free agency but we've signed one guy, not including re-signing our own guys. I know they want to take the "reward our own talent" approach, which I'm all for, but the talent we have here hasn't gotten us anywhere. I know the plan is to rebuild through the draft, which I think is the right way to build a team, but how many guys are going to come in this year to over turn the roster. I know it's going to be a somewhat gradual process, but this roster needs a major overhaul which will require more than just drafting players and signing college free agents for the time being. They need to bring in new players. Maybe the decision makers feel that the existing talent isn't that bad, maybe they just need to stay healthy. I guess I'm just looking for some positive signs from the new management and I haven't seen much so far. I still have hope that Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey will get this ship sailing in the right direction...but bring in some new players, because a lot of the old ones were not performing very well!
  9. I was a little disappointed that Brad Butler won't be back next year to hold down the right side of the line. I thought him and Eric Wood were going to make a good tandem on right side for a while. That being said, I think Demetrius Bell can be an effective RT at this point in his career. Here is how I see the Starting OL lining up next year: LT (1st Round Pick...either Okung, Bulaga, Davis, Williams or Campbell) LG Andy Levitre C Geoff Hangartner G Richie Incognito (until Wood is healthy enough to comeback) RT Demetrius Bell (I would draft another T and/or bring in a proven FA to push for this job)
  10. I would say definitley coming back: Offence: Bell, Butler, Evans, Levitre, Nelson, Hangartner, Wood, Jackson Defence (if 4-3): Schobel, Williams, Johnson, Pozluszny, Mitchell, Byrd, McGee, McKelvin, Florence, Corner, Wilson, Nic Harris, Lankster, Carry Harris, Maybin, Wendling Maybe coming back: Offence: Edwards, Fitzpatrick, Brohm, Lynch, Hardy, Johnson, Schoumann, Fine, Stupar, Meredith, Incognito, McIntyre, Jenkins Defence: Bryan Scott, Whitner, Stroud, Palmer, Corto Not coming back: Offence: Chambers, Parrish, Reed, Klopfenstein, Simmons, J.Scott, McKinney, Hamdan Defence: Ellison, McCargo, Youboty, Kelsay, Ellis, Denney, Buggs, Draft There's some guys that I put on here I would only bring back as special team guys, i.e. Wendling, Corto, Jenkins...there's some other guys I didn't bother putting on here that they signed very late in the year or off the practice roster...some of them may stay, who knows
  11. I agree...I love both throwback unies....it doesn't seem like a big thing, but getting rid of those old unies that are tied to a decade of losing can make a big difference...look at what happened when the bucs switched unies...mind you they got warren sapp, derrick brooks, tony dungy at the same time...but sometimes it takes something like switching jersey's to change the mind set of a team
  12. I think with out a doubt. I'm not sure why analysts debate this as often as they do. His yardage is up there in the same league as Kelly and Esiason. His touchdown and interception ratio is better than both of them. He's won a super bowl, has more league mvp's, has won a super bowl mvp...has set passing records in the super bowl...i'm sure i could look for more ammunition. Sure he had a couple of obscure years, but overall this guys has had an amazing career
  13. There's a lot of "mockers" out there that have the Bills drafting a QB in the first round...IMO I don't think the 9th pick warrants taking a QB. I'll have to admit I haven't done my full homework on players, but from what I hear this draft is especially deep in the OT and DT department, both of which IMO are positions of need. Now a lot is going to happen between now and the draft, but this how I see them possibly drafting: Round 1: OT (I really think no other option here, i'm hearing Brian Baluga alot) Round 2: DT (if there are still solid big guys available, if not possibly QB or LB) Round 3: QB (depending on outcome of round 2) Round 4: LB (depending on the results of rounds 2 and 3) Rounds 5 thru 7: take the best player available regardless of position Let me know what you guys think!!
  14. I'll give you support on this!! As much as all of us wanted to hire a so called "football guru", I think both of these guys are solid football men. Nix's track record for drafting players in the past (looking at San Diego) speaks for itself. I like Chan Gailey's approach, designing and offence (and defence for that matter) towards players you've got, and using their strengths, rather than shoving a system down a players throat that doesn't utilize their skill sets
  15. I heard Thurman Thomas talk about this many years ago on a talk show...I can't remember which one. He said something about them being out every night during the Super Bowl and even being out the night before the Super Bowl. The host said something like, "...but it's the Super Bowl"....and Thurman said something like, "...we were a party team and we were trying to live up to that reputation..."
  16. time to give Hardy and Johnson a shot, bring a couple of guys in for competition...maybe draft a guy in the mid to late rounds or bring in some free agents
  17. I think last year's draft was very strong minus Maybin. Hopefully he can still develop in to a solid player. I have a feeling McKevlin just isn't going to pan out. He has all the physical attributes to be a great corner, but he relies on his physical tools too much and is often out of position. I agree also, even though the Bills have picked poorly, lack of strong coaching and injuries have also played a part.
  18. I forgot it worked that way...I modified my post...thanks
  19. I see it like this: LT - get someone in the 1st round LG - Levitre C - Hangartner G - Wood (if healthy) if not Butler T - Butler (if playing guard than Bell) Demetrius Bell can be the swing tackle for another year before we put him in the starting line up
  20. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/01/22/b...aft-pick-count/ Looks like so far we have an extra 6th and 7th round pick. So looks like we'll have 9 picks going in to the draft if nothing else changes. Not a bad start. I would like to see Marshawn Lynch dangled about for some more picks...assuming anyone else is willing to buy. At this point I would like to see a dominant left tackle taken with the first round pick and than qb addressed in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.
  21. I just wanted to get an open discussion on the current Bills roster and what changes we needed to make going forward, i.e. what players should/will stay and what we need to go out and get to solidify certain positions. This is the my analysis by position, feel free to jump in and share your thoughts: Offense: Quarterback: This position needs an obvious over haul. I really was a Trent backer his first year and a half in the league and wanted him to succeed, but it is obvious after watching him this past year he is not the answer any more. I might keep Fitzy as a backup. Don't think Brohm is the long term solution. I was perplexed this season when Gibran Hamdan wasn't given a chance, looks like he has a decent arm and is willing to go down the field. I would take a QB in round 2, don't think any of them are worth taking in the top 10, hope to get someone in the interim that can be a transition guy. Running Backs: I think Fred Jackson should be the guy next year...just a solid football player. If possible, I would try and see if I could get any draft picks for Marshawn Lynch, need more picks in the draft to rebuild this team. Wide Receiver: I hope Chan is the guy that can finally get Lee the ball (and a quarterback that can). I'd say it's now or never for James Hardy, time to find out what this guy can do. I really liked Stevie Johnson his rookie year, I think he can be a good inside receiver and playmaker for this ball club. I'd say dump the rest. Tight Ends: I think Shawn Nelson can be a really good pass catching, playmaking tight end. He was not utilized very well last year in the passing game due to many reasons we all know. I think he will be a reliable blocker as well. I also think Derek Schouman could be a really solid three down tight end in this league, however the guy just can't stay healthy. Derek Fine, not a bad blocker, but like Schouman, just can't stay healthy. I don't think this group is bad when they can stay healthy, and the key word there is healthy. O - Line: Speaking of staying healthy....as hard of a time this unit had this past season, there is talent there. I really think they have two really good young guards in Levitre and Wood, possibly pro bowl futures for these two. Hopefully Wood can work his way back from his very ugly injury, at this point, who knows about his availability for next season. I think Hangartner is a better than average centre and they have money invested in him. I really think having a healthy Brad Butler will stabilize the unit as well. I like Demetrius Bell, but I don't think he is quite ready yet. What this unit needs is a solid force in the LT position to anchor down that side of the line. There should be one available at 9 in the draft or there could be one available in free agency. Defense: Defensive Line: I think this group will see a lot of change this upcoming season, especially if a 3 - 4 defense is implemented. If that's the case i would say good bye to almost everyone here. I would convert Maybin to an outside linebacker. If we can retain Schobel I would put him at the other outside linebacker spot, if he is game for doing that. It didn't work out to well for the Packers this year with Kampman. I would say bye to Kelsay, Stroud, Ellis and Denney. I would get a nasty NT. I would find a spot for Kyle Williams somewhere, I think he is really underrated and the guy just makes plays. Linebackers: This is a group that could see a lot of change as well. I would keep Kawika, Poz. I would not bring back Keith Ellison. They have to find a way to get Nic Harris on the field, this guy just makes plays. This is a position that could use another playmaker, either on the inside if they go 3 - 4 or an outside backer. Secondary: I would have to say this is one of the deepest in the league. There isn't a lot I would change with this group. I really think Terence McGee is one of the underrated corners in the NFL. I thought Drayton Florence really brought stability to the position last season. I think Leodis McKelvin relies too much on his athletic ability and really doesn't understand the position that well yet. Hopefully he can make some strides this year. I really like Reggie Corner and Ellis Lankster. Jairus Byrd...enough said! I really like the job George Wilson did at SS. I would bring him back as the starter next year over Donte Whitner. I like Donte Whitner but I really don't think he has lived up to his draft status and the other guys have done such a good job. Hopefully we can also find a spot for Bryan Scott next year too. He is such a team player that can do so many things. Kicker/Punter: Both are solid! I know it's long, but let me know what you guys think!
  22. I know all most every one in the Bills Nation has been pretty hot over the developments of this franchise over the last several weeks, forget that, the last several years. This is probably the most dysfunctional organization in the NFL minus the Raiders, run by an archaic owner who is well passed his prime and has a long history of holding grudges and ticking off his management and coaches. It is an organization which has lacked leadership and vision for years, and it's run that way from top to bottom. As a fan base, we have begged and plead for change, only to have it fall on deaf ears! As long as Ralph is owner of this team, nothing will change, and as outsiders there is not a lot we can really do about it. I know we all wish we had the power to control the fate of this team, but we do not have that control. The only thing that we can truly control is our support for this team. With all the latest developments I have to admit that I was pretty negative about the whole situation. I said to my brother in law, ..."that's it, I'm not going to watch this team any more!" But you know what? Shortly after my attitude started to change, my negativity towards the whole situation turned in to love and support once more. That's all we can really do folks, love and support our team to fullest! It's like having a bad egg for a child that repeatedly makes bad decisions. Doesn't mean we stop loving the child. I challenge all the fans out there riding this emotional roller coaster we call the Buffalo Bills to stand up and support our team with all they can, because that's all we can really do!!!
