In PRO sports, people shouldn't negotiate through the fans. In PRO sports, people should let their agent do the talking. In PRO sports, people should realize there isn't a tenure track. In PRO sports people should learn to wrap their arms.

Interesting approach. Don't disagree, but the Bills are going to get at least one prime time game next year. None of this 1pm stuff all year. They played too many important teams too well to avoid being noticed. The cat's out of the bag on this team. They're getting better and everyone knows it. Lot's of street cred has been earned this year -- now to just turn that into wins . . .

And, PLEASE, someone teach him how to wrap his arms while tackling! It's a business and only easy deals are gonna get done between now and the new CBA. His deal has to be complicated. Overall the OP is a great thoughtful and thought-provoking read, BUT I agree that it's overly critical to pick apart each pass and I want Fitz to be courageous enough to throw that pass.

Isn't the comparison to Russell a consideration of their athleticism vs. their behavioral IQs?? Whatever the reason, I haven't really heard that comparison all that often. In any case, jumping to the conclusion that it MUST be about race is less valid than a Russell comparison. Conversations like this are just crazy. the OP starts by asking the question, "Why doesn't CN get more consideration?". Well, 1) It's December and most of us know the draft is in April. 2) Can anyone think of a college player that's getting more press - both good and bad - than Newton? 3) Who knows how much consideration the Bills FO is giving this one player? 4) Who cares how much consideration TBDers are giving him, and how can you judge that anyway? Are CM posters the only one considering his future value in the NFL? 5) Contrary to one of the themes of this thread and certainly one of the main themes of the other thread, it's pretty hard to back up any claim that Buffalo, as a team and as a city, is somehow bigoted against black players - QBs or otherwise.

The end game hasn't been reached yet -- we'll see. It's all "sports entertainment". LBJ wins a ring or two down south and it's all forgotten. This is just more of the self centered junk we teach our kids in lieu of sportsmanship, loyalty, etc. The Owners have been doing this for years, Corporations for decades, Nations for centuries. Now that (a few rare) players are in positions to do this, we jump on their case?

As a negotiating ploy to get the best deal in the end - ABSOLUTELY! Don't you think they're interviewing other candidates looking for their own best deal? Again, that's how the game is played. Do you ever shop around for the best deal on a new car and compare offers -- letting dealer B know that dealer A will throw in something to see if that guy will juice his offer?

I'd be happy if they go looking for a QB around Round 6!

Can't blame the players -- the owner's really are the rule makers in each and every one of these pro sports leagues. Sure it sucks to feel betrayed or dissed by a guy you want to be on your team, but which one of us given the opportunity to take such control of our lives would turn it down. Didn't Lee get more from Philly by showing them how wanted he was by other teams? Didn't James increase the value of his "brand" with all that nonsense? Can't stand either one of them, but if you want to be grouchy focus on owners, sports media, and all their marketers. Can't see this happening. Moss has got to be really pissed -- and if they win it all with out him, why would either side want to get back together? OTOH, a genius move like that would only be one more reason to hate the Pats*!!

And even though the Bills drafted Harris (and obtained Briscoe - the only other black QB at the time) the whole Bills fanbase is somehow bigoted and really only want Irish Catholic QB's??
