  1. It could be interesting to see him in the slot where he could use his size advantage against presumably smaller dbs or athletecism against bigger slower LBs.

They have used him in the slot or flexed already. It was a big part of AVPs offense, and one of the parts that produced more often then not. Schouman was out to a good start last year before getting his knee tore up on a freak accident.

  2. Dude... if you're familiar with me, you know I'm all about reality.

There are 3 tight ends in the NFL universe that are 235 lbs. or under... Schouman, at 223 lbs. is the smallest tight end in the league. In 3 years he's played in 21 games and manage to catch 27 passes and only one TD.

Do 250 lb. TEs get hurt? You betcha. But 223 lb. TEs have no chance.... they'll get busted up. That's reality. DEs run 250-310 and OLBs run 235-275. Schouman is going to lose that blocking matchup 95% of the time or more. So, if Shouman remains at TE and sees any significant playing time at that positon, he will be injured again this year and out for a lengthy period, if not, the season. I'm not being a jerk about this because I hate to see any player injured, mid sized vehicles colliding with full size trucks are no match.

Thus... my original post and question, that seems totally avoided or lost in all of the conversation, is whether or not the Bills (knowing that he won't hold up at TE @223 lbs.) have plans to move him outside to WR, and if so, can he make an impact there.

How many RBs run over 250? How often do you see them blocking these DE and OLB your saying can't be blocked by a tight end before they get a running start? You assumption is ridiculous. Ladian Tomlinson is one of the better backs at picking up rushers and so was Thurman. Hines Ward blows up rushing LBs and breaks there face. Its about leverage and will not about what you weigh in at. And as for the absurd assertion that Schouman might be moved to wr, seriously? Your wondering why no one s commenting on this?

  3. The deal is, we are about to find out what his deal is. He's playing for his job now. We are only going to keep 3 qbs under contract. Will he be able to unseat Fitz or will he be sent packing. We know Brown is here for a couple years. Trent seems to be the incumbent, so that leaves Fitz and Brohm to battle it out for the 3rd spot. I hope he steps up and actually takes the starting job. With everyone on the same playing field as far as playbook knowledge is concerned, and another year for Brohm to learn what it means to be a proffesional, i feel it is realistic.

  4. Well one thing about the Bills in the past decade is that they never do what the experts anticipate, they never do what I think, and never do what I want.

So, I'm making a quick wish list and I'll make a list of what unexpected things the Bills will probably do instead...lol

    My Wish List

    ________________________________________________________________________________

    _______

-The Bills trade-up to select Jimmy Clausen QB or somehow he slides down to us which doesn't seem likely.

-The Bills trade away M. Lynch and get back into the 2nd round and select either Bruce Campbell or another OT in the 2nd.

-The Bills select the best available DT/NT on the board in the 3rd round

Da Bills (clever, outsmart the leaugue mentality) more likely to do list

    ________________________________________________________________________________

    _________

-The Bills trade-up to pick #33 and while everybody's holding there breath thinking the Bills are going to select a QB (either Clausen or McCoy), instead they select Taylor Mays (Safety) because he's the player available on their board.

    - The Bills make a big reach and select OT Selvish Capers OT W.Virginia with their 3rd round pick. Buddy Nix justifies

the pick by saying that he was rated much higher on their draft board and the kid can play!

    - The Bills pass on Dan Le Fevour QB in the 4th round and instead select Armanti Edwards QB Appalachian State. Buddy

lightens the tone of the Bills War Room with his funny comment. " One thing that I know about this years football team

is that the Bills starting QB will be Edwards", as Nix gives a big smile before leaving a stunned audience during his

    press conference.

    - The Bills trade M. Lynch in the 4th round and selects DE Jermaine Cunningham Florida with the 4th round pick they

    received for Lynch.

    - The Bills select Mike Williams WR Syracuse with their 5th round pick which receives mixed reviews as well. Buddy

mentions that one of the advantages that Mike Williams will have here in Buffalo is that he is already acclimated

to the weather and is well conditioned to play in snow and inclement weather conditions. Chris Brown raises the

question during Nix's press conference that Syracuse plays in a domed stadium, and Buddy Nix suddenly turns

red, takes a big gulp of water, and looks embarassed as he say's "Oh yeah, well, um, we knew that, but sometimes,

they, um, practice, in the elements, um and he is a good kid, um and should be a nice addition to our team. Um

and I'm real excited about the players that we selected so far in the 2009...um I mean 2010 draft so far. I think

that'll wrap up this press conference for now. Thank You!

    - The Bills select Matt Kopa OT Stanford in the 6th round and also Jeremy Williams WR Tulane

    - The Bills close out the 2010 draft by selecting RB James Starks Buffalo and Tony Washington OT Abiliene Christian.

:D:bag::lol: Just another year of high expectations and disappointment!

First off we aren't going to trade marshawn for a, lets say 5th rounder, just to use it to trade up for a project LT.

And what would be the problem with picking Starks and Washington in the later rounds? and Mike Williams played at Riverside, thats in Buffalo, where it snows, retard.

  5. The overall deciding factor in most teams' minds when drafting in the top half of the first round is this. Are we going to be paying a guy, who possibly fits our needs, possibly not, top ten money if he doesn't belong in the top ten. You need to make sure that when you pay a guy 30 million dollars for what he did in college that it better translate into the NFL day1 of the next season. These guys need to be ready to go. Therefore CJ Spiller, a playmaker, and will end up contributing from day one.

  6. This is such crap. There's only one reason the Bills are competing in the 2010 season, that's to win. It's not to evaluate talent and see what guys have. That's what practice and training camp and pre season are for. At least if it's not that I hope they let me know so I can cheer for a team that wants so to win.

WR is a glaring hole right now. Sign TO for one more year for whatever he wants (I don't care, it's no my money) and then we got WR wrapped up. Use Johnson and hardy to replace Reed.

I don't get his loser attitude that's so prevelant around here.

Signing an over the hill receiver who drops balls and doesn't command double teams is a JOKE! If you want to overpay a previous probowler go see what Marvin Harrison is doing. Re-signing TO would add to our image as the laughing stock of the NFL. If you want a winning team this is not the way to do it.

  7. Your argument of Clausen "has all the tools" holds no more water than the other guys argument about "intangibles".

Which part of the argument doesn't hold water? The part were Clausen played in a pro style offense and had success? The fact that he can make all the throws? The part were he can actually read defenses? The playing on torn ligaments and only throwing 4 interceptions? Because if you add these things up it seems like Bill's argument holds a Great Lakes worth of water. Yeah this team needs leaders, but it need football players even more. Take the guy that will contribute.

  8. I'm not on board with their decision to list Clausen as one of the riskiest picks. The article indicated he was pro-ready; and that he played under center (as opposed to in a spread offense). These factors indicate he's significantly less risky than, for example, Bradford. The argument they made for his "riskiness" was based on "physical tools." I don't buy it. How often do you see a first round quarterback fail due to lack of physical tools? I'd argue that Clausen's physical tools are every bit as good as those of Joe Montana or Tom Brady. (Not that that's saying much; as neither of those quarterbacks was all that gifted physically.) If Clausen fails, it will be because of something other than a lack of physical tools.

    +1

No where in that article did it state these imaginary risks that a team will take by drafting Clausen.
