Please read this before you start topics about a career back up and try to tell me how awesome he is.

Hip Hip Hooray!

I'm not saying Josh McCown is the answer either but I just really hope all the people who have and will make condescending comments about a guy who is one season removed from a season in which he threw 13 TD's and 1 INT aren't the same people who tout EJ Manuel as a legitimate option.
Can you please look at his career stats before posting something like this. Career completion % under 60 and would have been far worse if not for 1 good year with the Bears. Same goes for td/int ratio. Practically 1/1 and would have been way worse if not for that year. You should do your homework.

Gailey is the only coach who has got production out of a running back who should have made the pro bowl 4 times by now. The way this coaching staff, yeah Hackett I'm looking at you, has used CJ is baffling.
-
Gailey - offensive system
-
Week 1. It look like he meant to hurdle the punter then realized he wasn't going to get over him then just kicked him in the face. If stiff arms are legal, should stiff "legs" be legal too?
-
They moved AVP to quarterbacks coach.

Pettines D is pretty aggressive. When it works its awesome and people love the sacks/interceptions it creates. When he guesses wrong, holes in the defense get exposed. Jim Leonhard whiffing on the second TD run was a prime example. Steven Jackson saw the match up he wanted to exploit and headed right at leonhard.

I thought Kiko was poor yesterday too. I can't remember which of the Atlanta touchdown runs it was (think it was the first) where he over pursued on a gap. He has done that from time to time in the running game, but this kid is still a good football player who has had a good rookie year. I thought our run defense had been gradually improving in recent games but it was dreaful yesterday.
The "over pursuit" everyone is talking about wasn't, in fact. Kiko was playing his gap responsibility. Moats had the gap the play went through but got caught up in traffic trying to fight over a guard or center. Yeah Kiko maybe could have made a better play there, but this defense keeps preaching play your own responsibility and don't over extend. You guys do know that the running back we had to defend today was Steven Jackson right? Just because he was hurt for a couple games this year, people forget how good this guy is.
-
you mean Dareus, half of the defensive front 4 that allowed Steven Jackson and some no name RBs to run all over is today?
Gilmore and Williams that allowed yards to rack up for Gonzo and White all game?
Searcy is lucky in spots. He's not a starting Safety. Not even close. Other than his lucky ints, he's not very good. Average at best.
Byrd... Your still incorrect. He was not drafted by Buddy. He was drafted by Juron and Russ Brandon.
Mario. Your missing the point. Nix didn't draft him. He was a FA. A very good one. Considered the best available pass rusher in a long time on the open market. It's not a surprise that Mario would be good. He was the 1st overall draft. Anyone who has ever watched the Texans could tell you that Mario was a good player. Nix didn't find anyone special that we didn't already know about.
The fact is, that this year many if these players have played well, or better than expected but it's nothing guaranteed long term either. Just as much as you point out that these players working out well (Williams and Dareus) Anyone can say they are getting lucky. Anyone remember Anderson on Cleveland years ago? Played great one season and then was never heard of after that. Who's to say Dareus and Williams don't regress? Who's to even say they are playing well? Turnovers and sacks are great but that doesn't mean they are doing their job. Dareus is still part of the line that hemorrhage stone of rushing yards. Williams is still part of the secondary that hemorrhages tons of passing yards.
Are you really trying to prove your point using Derek Anderson?
Look at your display name, are you forgetting who hired, and then was forced to fire that loser Chan Gailey? Buddy Nix brought in FA RT Cornell Green at 2 mill per in 2010, only to see this player benched and cut by week 5 of that year. Name me the great free agents brought in for 2010?
This exact same scenario happened this season with LG Colin Brown and his backup at guard Sam Young. both were benched and eventually cut and gone from the team around / after week 5. The guy brought in to be the backup center is now the starting LG, and god forbid any of the starters go down because all that's left is waiver wire players recently picked up. It was probably Nix who assured Whaley that Brown & Young would be serviceable.
Buddy Nix and his half-assed philosophy of guards are a dime a dozen has screwed this team time and again, and this year is no different with inferior play at LG.
Nix and his stupidity couldn't find a pass rusher in the draft during his tenure with the Bills, so he signed the most expensive FA DE ever. If Nix was a scout that found Byrd, he was also a scout that found Maybin!!This move of Super Mario while good, also handcuffed the team with other free agents and Bills players they could sign. More on this to come next year when he will cost the team 18 mill per.
I could go on and on about Buddy Nix and his screw ups, like allowing the move to the 4-3 to 3-4 and back to a 4-3. Then allowing the hiring of DC George Edwards, and Dave Wannstedt. This man wouldn't know a decent HC, DC, OG if they came up and kicked him in his moronic rear end.
This franchise regressed from a 6-10 team that was supposedly "not that far away" to a 4-10 team, and his regime never even equaled the stupidity of Dick Jauron, and his 7-9 teams. How many of the 27 draft pick the last 3 years have become pro bowlers? I'm pretty darn happy Nix is history.
You do know that our offensive line is a big reason why we are 3rd in the league in rushing and in the top five in completion percentage when blitzed right?
-
I stood up and yelled FINALLY! I did that when they QB sneaked for first downs and when they did a fb dive to score at the goal line too. It took them half the season but I'm glad they are finally listening to me
Me Too! I almost crapped myself when they didn't run on a first down. Screens, sneaks, reverses? Who are these guys?

Man what a difference weeks make in the NFL. The first game EJ couldn't get into his drop before there were Jets in his face. This week it seemed as if there were no pass rush at all. Granted EJ did throw the ball when he got to the top of his drop. He didn't stand around patting the ball, but he didn't seemed rushed on most of his throw plays. Did Hackett do something that created so much confusion on defense or were the jets just not able to beat our o-line?
-
Bill usually I can't wait to read your post about the games each week. Having said that, you phoned this one in. Maybe you wrote off the Bills chances early like the rest of the country and therefore didn't watch as intently as usual. If I see you stroke Searcy's ego, or bag on Kyle Williams in one more of these posts I'll puke. I think you put more effort into looking up Grateful Dead tunes then watching Gilmore play. If you did you would see that he was playing with one hand. A press corner playing one handed is the wrong move by the coaching staff. I did agree with you on two points though. Chris Hogan? Seriously? Easly really only plays ST? What a joke. I know people didn't want to keep around a developmental WR prospect, but could Darrick Rodgers be any more useless then Hogan? The second point I agree with, no its not giving kudos to a kid that juggles the ball every attempt he makes to catch it, but Coach Marrone going for it on fourth down. People are going to hate, but with a team like ours, we need to be aggressive; Offense, defense and special teams.
Come on Bill. Every one plays through injuries. You need to step it up.
-
Yeah if you pay attention to ANY football news you would see that we aren't the only team that sustains serious injury every year. It's the NFL 2013. Injuries are a big part of any teams season. Good teams have depth that steps up when its needed.

EJ looked like a rookie today, no surprise there. Horrible protection all day, major footwork issues. That last throw out of bounds was made off one foot at a horrible angle. No way to get an accurate throw like that. Just terrible pass pro, and no scheme at all by Hackett to make things easier for his rookie QB. Where does one start? All kinds of called runs on 1st down= 2nd and longs all day. Anyone should know the Jets run D will not give you any 1st down yardage. No screens to slow down the rush. No boots or play action. Hackett is pretty awful as a coordinator and his "rookieness" showed even more than EJ's to any seasoned football observer. You can't hide a rookie QB, but you don't play right into the teeth of the defense either. Hackett was absolutely schooled today.
I couldn't have said it better myself. I just kept saying to myself as EJ was running for his life, "where is the screen pass, run a f$%@ing screen pass!" You could tell that the offense wasn't in a rhythm and it starts when your QB is running for his life because the D is just coming with reckless abandon. They had no chance doing the things they were doing. Our offense still needs major work. Most of the receivers couldn't beat the press coverage, and when they did the QB threw it out of bounds. Without timing these west coast principles don't work.

This video really shows how hard Stevie was grabbed by Luke Kuechly on that pass interference call late in the 4th. I had originally thought it was a soft call.
I was just thinking the same thing. Makes me feel much better about how things ended. Although it was nice to be on the right side of a questionable call for once. I guess we will have to save that for another game.
-
He asked who andre was looking for and he told him Stevie, then Steve Smith tells him that he should tell that mother fer to get in the weight room.
-
I love that you actually admitted that you were wrong about Kyle Williams. Props for that. And Kikoooooooooooooo! has pro bowl written all over him.

pretty cool. Too bad more players don't make it a habit of doing this kind of random stuff.
-
KW didn't look too shot pursuing a play to the far sideline to make a tackle.
GO BILLS!!!
I watched this game in a not so great surrounding in terms of this post. I'm saving up for week 1 as well. In any event, here are the aforementioned "thoughts.".....
1) Searcy has issues. He really isn't that talented. But imo he listens to his coaches and is a smart player. He follows through on every play. I for one hope that he makes this team.
2) When I came to this page I expected to see a lot of criticism about Gilmore. Then I realized that I am one of the only posters who is willing to do so. He completely sucked in every phase of the game. Maybe he will get better, ya know?
3) I liked what I saw from Glenn and even Pears. Glenn in particular looked to be in better shape.
4) Imo, the Redskins are a MUCH better team than the Colts or the Vikes.
5) Gideon come in with his eyes on the floor,
Says: Y'ain't got a hinge; you can't close the door.
Moses stood up a full six foot ten,
Says: You can't close the door when the wall's caved in.
6) Don't worry about Tuel. Did you think that there would be no setbacks?
7) Spiller got hit low before the TD. He should have been taken out at that point. I gotta tell ya that I was unimpressed by Marrone at that point. One thing that Spiller is NOT is a workhorse running back.
8) Kiko is a player. I am sure of this.
9) A disaster like this was bound to happen. It will happen in the real season as well. Let's hope that we can recover from it.
10) Hate to say it but Fred Jackson and Kyle Williams are more than likely both shot.
11) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
KW isn't shot. He is recovering from a serious surgery still.
Bagging on the only NFL CB we have is hilarious. Especially since he was playing injured. Have you read any national pundits pieces on Gilmore? Could everyone be wrong and your correct?
#7+8 I totally agree with you on. Kiko Alonso was a steal for us and will have to be dead for the coach's to drag him off the field. CJ isn't a workhorse. Marrone and company let me down when they let him go back out there after the TD. It's preseason. He came up hobbling. Plaster his ass to the bench. Not to mention I still have concerns about him being our goal line back. We had how many other options within 5 yards?

The majority of Native Americans don't even consider it to be an offensive team name. See link
http://washington.cb...id-change-name/
It is considered racist by pretentious and overly PC individuals like YOU, DStebb716.
Yeah take the word of a die hard Redskins fan to prove your point about natives feeling insulted. People like you who throw around "the worlds too PC" happen to be the problem here not the solution. A person who made a decision to stop using an offensive moniker to refer to a football team must be the bad guy, not the guy flaming him for using it. Educated adults respect the opinions of others. Go teach your kids your my way or the highway routine. I'm sure they will carry your narrow vision with them into the future.
-
I agree Wood deserves a better grade, but maybe you haven't watched K Williams play Raggs. In a 3-4 he may not fit perfectly, but when they go 4 man front/nickel he excels.
-
Just because the Bills backed the Brinks truck up to his door does not mean he is or has to be the leader of our football team. It is well documented that he is not a rah rah guy even before he signed his contract. The Bills knew that. He was signed because we needed an answer at pass rush, something he's good at, not because we needed leadership. Your right about our team being in the grips of over a decade of no post season play, but shooting guns and poking fun at a division rival retard during one of the only breaks from football he gets a year, is NOT news. Maybe when your done humping your home made lombardi trophy you could deliver it to Mario and talk with him about your concerns.
-
I talked to Jim at an autograph session a few weeks ago and he said he was having surgery on his jaw. Some sort of infection that needed to be removed.
And he still drinks for the record.
-
my opinion is that he's done. Haven't liked him or wanted him on this team in over 2 seasons. I don't think he's good. I think he takes the same type of career that Hanson, Schobel had. Good enough for Bills fans to think they are really good, but the rest of the league really doesn't.
I put the 2nd part in there saying he might benefit from Mario and Dareus being the main contributors and Kyle reaps some of the rewards. But I really don't see that happening.
Rags your obviously living in some alternate universe where Kyle Williams hasn't been our best player on defense the past 3 seasons.

What exactly about a 1/1 career td/int ratio is dazzling to you? Or maybe your sarcastic comment in return to my sarcastic post was misinterpreted. I've seen many people post about how this is going to be a good idea. It's not. Supporting it means you are desperate for anything at this point. Throwing away another year on a journeyman back up has been seems like the only option, it's not.
This signing is about quelling the fear of fans. It doesn't make our team better. If anything it drags us back into the endless QB cycle we've been in for decades. Perhaps you are confused.
