  1. I have been reading all these posts about how we need an offensive mind for a coach and we need this and that....what we need is a Leader of men, a leader of men both for the coaching tree and the locker room. I don't care if he was an offensive coordinator a defensive coordinator or a special teams coach before, I could care less if he was water boy before as long as he can lead men. As long as he has a philosophy and hires the right guys to implement his philosophy I am good with that. Let's take a look at some of the coaches around the league shall we: 1. John Harbough a defensive backs/special teams coach mainly ( never a def or off coordinator anywhere) but a leader of men and a super bowl champion who always has his team in playoff contention. 2. Mike Tomlinson a defensive backs coach mainly, with only 1 year in the def coordinator role (whose defense was middle of the road at 14) got a head coach job with the steelers and now has two Super bowl victories. 3. Tom Coughlin mainly a only a WR coach in the NFL with 4 years as an OC at Syracuse in the late 70's early 90's head coach in college for 3 years at Boston College then two coaching stints as a head coach with JAX and NYG and has two Super Bowl victories. 4. Jim Caldwell mainly a QB/WR coach he did have one four year stint in Indy (2with Payton and 1 without) and only 1 year as an OC in Baltimore now HC of the lions and doing a great job headed to Playoffs. So all I want in as a head coach is a leader of men who will let guys know where he stands and let his coaches coach. To me you know who those coaches are because they have a coaching tree that is unreal like Parcells (not saying I want Parcells just trying to prove my point) he let his coaches actually coach and all he had to do was guide the ship, and by doing that his coaches actually became good leaders under him and branched out. When was the last time you ever heard of a bills assistant coach becoming a head coach (besides Petine) he was like the Browns 50th choice and a default selection so no Doug doesn't get credit for that one. You know you have a good head coach and a leader of men when loosing your staff every year is a possibility because you groomed them right. I didn't want to say his name but The Hoody in NE is a good example and a product of Bill Pacels as well. Tom was OC in the late 70's early 80's sorry
  2. I think Whaley should be the only one to say who the coach is. Yes the owner is going to pay the coach but he is also paying the GM to do a job and that is build a team and find good football players. The way you build a team is get players first then find a coach suitable to coach the players and lead them to victories. Not find a coach then get a GM that is when power struggles occur. If the GM (i.e. Whaley is the one hiring the Head Coach there is no mis reading the situation by the Head Coach and he knows from day one where he is in the food chain). So go for it Whaley....in Whaley we trust.
  3. I would take Cowher in a heart beat . I can't stand when people say he is old and hasn't been around in a while, that is crap you don't think analyst don't study film or watch football...come on man. We don't need an innovator so he can come here and try out his unproven offense so (chances are) fails and we start all over....no, no, no. How innovative do you need to be, the field is still 100 yards long right, teams still need run the ball between the tackles, and teams still need to block, tackle, and kick right. We need a leader and if Cowher decides he wants a five year contract give him 5 years. He would be awesome for our team. Also what is all this talk that if Schwartz gets hired not promoting Pepper Johnson because he doesn't know how to be a coordinator really.....this guy has been around football his whole life...of course he can be a D coordinator if anyone deserves a shot if Jim gets hired its him...look at what he did with our d line and I am not talking about the obvious 4 I am talking about the backups they all played well and didn't miss a beat.....sign him up...I mean his mentor is Bill B. Right....so why doubt him. I would take any of them Cowher, Schwartz, Chucky, any would be an upgrade over that Doug guy. Remember in 2013 when our D did really good under Mike P. And when he left most people thought oh crap there goes the D then we get Schwartz and our D was much better then the previous year and looking good for the future. So I just got that feeling the Bills are going to take that next step next year with a coach that has the it factor and a proven track record...our players will rally behind a coach like that and not miss a beat. Ok I am done happy new year everyone Go Bills.
  4. We can't control what other teams do and I do believe Kyle had some key picks also lots of them seamed to be with us driving the ball And I do recall our WR rewarded our QB a couple games with a bunch of drops
  5. I like coach Marrone and what he has done for this team and organization. As I look back at this year we were two plays away from being 11-5 ( only two plays) 1. Vs Houston, Bills up 10-7 driving to start the second half with the ball on Houston 20 yard line (so we should at least get three) EJ throws a pick 6 to JJ watt for 80 yards, if EJ only got about 6 to 8 more inches on that pass it would have been a big play to Fred. So that was a 10 point swing possibly 14 point. Not coaches fault. 2. Vs KC, Bills up 10-3 first drive of the second half ( it should be our statement drive for the season) it was 2nd and 10 from KC 17, B. Brown runs up the middle for a good gain looks like he is going to score easy to put the bills up 17-3 instead he fumbles it out of the end zone at the 5...unbelievable. Again not coaches fault. Like I said only two plays away from an 11-5 record and playoff bound. So who wouldn't want coach to run their team. I didn't agree with everything he did, and I really wish they would have run the ball more inside the 10 with Boobie and maybe he will next year. We don't need the next A. Rodgers at QB just an ok vet like Orton and we will be ok. Maybe EJ needs to watch film on Big Ben this off season, and he might learn how to move in the pocket better and use his size. I really think when Our GM drafted EJ he saw Ben in him seeing how our GM came from Pitt. Again we would be dumb to give up on coach Marrone now....Go Bills.
  6. If I had to get a QB now or try to find one I would keep EJ ( obviously) sign either Bradford or Locker (both should come cheap if cut) and draft one like Hundley (UCLA) in the second
  7. I have give it to Doug, I think he has done a tremendous job with this team. It sucks that Orton retired but we weren't going anywhere with him anyway. I also don't think either of our Doug's idea to start EJ from day one, if we can remember when the Bills drafted EJ we had a young Vet on our roster named Kolb, and when Kolb got hurt EJ was our best option then. So it is what it is. I think EJ had his moments both ways. He never threw the ball down field unless the reciever was open by 10 yards and sometimes I wish he would have run some more. As my solution to our QB mess now keep EJ bring in K Cousins and draft a QB in the draft somewhere until we find the answer. Every year you have to have a battle at QB until you find the man known as QB1.
  8. Would you trade 2016 First round pick for a chance to get Winston? Hear me out: - We need a QB.......nuff said - Out window is small here with this defense, we can only keep this team together for lets say 2 to 3 years tops before we have to start letting players go. (i.e. R. Wilson with SEA) now players are winning there taking less money to play there and guys want to go there (i.e. Bills of the early 90's) everyone wants to play for a winner. - We need a QB.....did I say that already - We have EJ who could mentor him and keep him straight (I would like to think we wasted a first round pick on a mentor and not a cheer leader) - Winston might even make Hacket Look good, because Winston wins whereever he goes Thoughts......
  9. I personnel think the players on the current roster are perfectly ok with me. I think they could use some coaching, but i really think it all comes down to the play calling and game planning. There comes a point when you want to get the ball into your play makers yes, but when the game is on the line and you have opportunities to advance the ball and get first downs burn some clock and get into scoring position you have to run a pro style offense. I don't know what kind of offense we are running here, it certainly isn't a pro style and i would even question if it would work in college. I have seen too many times this year when the Bills were third and short ( 2 yards or less) and they throw the ball to try and get a first, it just doesn't make sense. We did sign Boobie last year to be our short yardage back did we not, well i can't recall using him on a 3rd and short at any point this year. I would rather have watched our guys run it in those situations and not get it that way then throw it and not get it. That is just me. I know its boring and I might be going off topic here but it was pathetic. The one 3rd and short that killed our season was last week when we had the ball around mid field (i think it was on our 40 or something 3rd and 1) and we throw it where it was almost picked off and returned for a TD. We don't have a QB that can throw the ball 50 times a game and win. Plus i really don't like the running back by committee either, pick one running back and stick with him. Ok I am done .
  10. I feel bad for this D cause our offense sucks!!! Put EJ is let's see what he got
  11. That was no foul great play Gilmore and Sanders should get an unsportsmen like conduct for bowing to the crowd
  12. Was the refs flag stuck in his pocket there he was looking right at Lee smith when he got head butted. really!!!
  13. Was the refs flag stuck in his pocket there he was looking right at Lee smith when he got head butted. really!!!
  14. That was dumb why didn't we run the ball and if we didn't make it throw it on 4th down. Sorry A** call Hacket
  15. I can tell this game is not going to be fun to watch.....another reason why I think the NFL is rigged all week they never focused on the Bills only how the Broncos were going to win and here is why. I really hope the Bills answer.
  16. How was the flag not thrown on a hold Williams was held right in front of Payton....
  17. How was that not interference, sometimes i wish the Bills would complain on calls like that early in the game like the Patriots do then they get those calls late.
  18. All's I got to say is "Thank God we have a defense"
  19. That is what they wasted a time out for......a run up the middle...really
  20. OK Doug quick question...why are you putting a guy returning punts that should be carrying the ball out of the backfield at least 20 25 times...not returning punts. Really...I like you Doug but come on. what was wrong with Thigpen returning punts that is his sole job.
  21. at least EJ wont force anything....that is a bright side....LOL
  22. if the helmet is in the nutural zone is that considered off sides??
