I think the title doomed the show.

I knew nothing of the story until about two hours ago, so perhaps there's more to it than I gathered, but what is it about his comments that was offensive and caveman-like? BTW, I find your comment insulting to cavemen.
-
I don't know enough about the subject to speak intelligently on the matter, but if what he said is true it doesn't sound like he meant anything offensive by it. Not saying it wasn't a stupid comment; just sounds like more of a "gotcha" gaffe than anything substantive.

The ‘Nigggerzation’ Of Obama
Rob's House replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
When I was in college I got cable with Fox news. I was excited to finally get to watch the news and get informed about world news and politics. I learned a lot about Gary Condit and Chandra Levy Dude, why are you talking about liberals' taints? Those aren't the ones that are the problem. I have no problem with Rachel Madow or even Keith Olbermann (even though he's a huge dick) because they're honest about who they are. It's the "objective" ones that are the problem. -

I don't know about the political leanings of all media moguls, but the myth that CEOs of major corporations are predominately conservative is false. I know the heads of CBS and NBC are left-wingers and many Hollywood directors as well, but I beyond that I can't speak to the politics of the CEOs of major movie studios. No way, dude. David Palmer was a Democrat -
This is another bull **** story. Does anyone really believe this guy meant anything offensive by it? By saying pregnancy is rarely caused by "legitimate" rape? Stop the !@#$ing presses. Whatever. I still hope he makes the practice squad.

The ‘Nigggerzation’ Of Obama
Rob's House replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The problem with your theory is that most people aren't news junkies, & to the casual observer the overwhelming majority of outlets are unabashedly left wing. Sure, you can turn on "Faux" News, talk radio, Drudge, Town Hall, etc. if you're so inclined. If not ABC, NBC, CBS, MSDNC, CNN, NYT, Wahington Post, Time, Newsweek, etc, are all left. And although it's not "news" Comedy Central, late night talk shows, HBO, etc. are all left as well. I think you have to either be extremely biased to the left, or try very hard, not to see it. It couldn't be more obvious. Sarah Palin comes off as flakey & the pop culture media labels her a dunce. Joe Biden is DC's village idiot & that's just Joe being Joe. When Obama ran for office he was relatively unknown & had serious allegations brought against him. Mitt Romney's dog & tax returns have gotten more attention from the media than Tony Resco, Bill Ayers, & Reverend Wright combined. Hell we heard all kinds of concern over Palin's lack of foreign policy experience as a candidate for VP but there was no such concern over Obama's equally empty resume in that category - and he was running for President, not the President's back up. When Bush was President, despite having been the Governor of TX, there was a media outcry to see his college transcripts. Despite no meaningful experience & his academic credentials being one of his main selling points, the media is curiously silent on the topic. When Bush was in office every goddamn day we were reminded of what a sad sorrowful shape the economy was in, how bad unemployment was, how expensive gas was, and the dangers of the "massive budget deficits. With Obama in office we are worse off in all those categories, but we don't really dwell on it. He'll, man; we had the media cheerleaders dutifully reporting the "summer of recovery" narrative before we ever saw recovery. Most of the bias is in the subtleties; the way information is reported. When under Bush jobs figures came in under expectation we were gloomily told how many jobs were lost. Under Obama, when unemployment goes up we're told how many jobs were created. And how many smiling happy faced pictures of the Obama family grace the pictures of magazines? It's gotten so bad & so obvious that I have trouble believing anyone paying attention can even question it. They may not apply but the reinforce the stereotypes. All these poli-dramas - West wing, News Room, Political Animals, that god awful show with Gena Davis as President, and so on - all cast Democrats in a positive light. When was the last time you saw a major studio production or TV show that cast Republicans in a positive light? -
I wonder if this is payback for him holding out on the press. They've been carrying his water for the last four years & now he won't throw them a bone. Hell hath no fury like a liberal scorned. Edit: Of course with poll #s & him campaigning in states that should be in the bag, I suppose it's possible they see the writing on the wall and want to jump off the sinking ship.

Obama must have really pissed someone off. Newsweekly has been the most consistently left-wing magazine in the mainstream for some time now. I suppose it could be a last ditch effort to appeal to a wider base, because by all accounts they're set to go the way of the Hypnotoad, but this cover just comes on too strong for me to believe that's the only thing going on here..

Seahawks talking to teams about QB T.Jackson
Rob's House replied to Drewgetz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's probably it right there. Talented young QBs tend to get attention. Other than looking serviceable in very limited spot duty in a Steeler offense that has seen Charlie Batch and Byron Sandwich find success, I'm not sure what he's done to warrant the enthusiasm many fans seem to have for him. -
I'm on the fence here. Talent wise he'd be a huge addition that could propel the offense to a whole nother level, and if anything happened to SJ we'd still have a top NFL receiver on the roster. But he does have a sordid past, and if he's not clicking in MN I'm afraid of what he could do to the team chemistry here. It's not like MN has other options at WR so if they're willing to let him go that's not a good sign. I suppose we could cut him if he became a problem, but then that's a wasted pick. Seems like a medium risk/high reward deal. All things considered I think I'd be okay with it.

I hate him for basking in all the glory that should have rightfully gone to the late Hypnotoad. -

Top ten reasons the Bills don't make the playoffs
Rob's House replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These threads wouldn't be nearly as amusing were it not for the fact that most of you guys were giddy with optimism up until a week ago. How does one go about doing that? -
As to the first part, I don't think he was saying that anyone who disagrees with the TEA party is divisive; I think he was referring to those who trash and label the TEA party rather than addressing their issues. As to the part about "sewer" politics, I honestly don't know what you're referring to. All the TEA baggers I know are middle-aged or older people, who are mild-mannered decent people who are concerned with the growth of government. I'm not sure what gutter politics they've engaged in. I honestly don't see how anyone with a shred of objectivity can claim the pettiness and negativity is symmetrical on both sides of this campaign, but I'm open to new info.

I see what you're doing here. You're calling him 9-9-9 to remind everyone that he's black. The ninth consonant in the alphabet is K. You're calling him KKK!! You're trying to plant in people's mind that Herman Cain is really a black klansman - an Uncle Tom. This is reverse-nigggerization, you racist ass hole!!

The ‘Nigggerzation’ Of Obama
Rob's House replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The real kicker is, in light of all of this most libs still have the balls to scoff at the idea of the "liberal media" and decry the outrage that is Fox News. Then they wonder why we call them irrational. -
Interesting bit on Brees. SD had given up on him & drafted Rivers with the intent to have him start as a rookie. Rivers held out deep into the offseason & by the time he signed he didn't have time to pick up the offense so Brees played & lit it up. If Rivers doesn't hold out, at the end of the season Brees is a FA bust, likely signs somewhere as a back up, & the legend of Drew Brees never happens.

This reminds me why of why I quit watching his show. It would be like reading this board but filtering out everyone but DIN, Conner, & Joe Spaghetti with EII moderating and 3rd as the lone conservative whose posts get cut off half way through.
