Defense is going to get annihilated by good offenses regardless of who you sign or draft.   I’d go all offense in FA and Draft, only add defense vis UDFA’s and bargain bin FA’s excepting vet minimum.  Way too much money invested in this defense that folds every post season.

What offensive positions or players do you have in mind as FA targets?

  2. Draft young, faster and cheaper WRs.  29 this year will be 30 by next, and isn’t that part of the concern with Diggs?  I don’t like the idea of wasting money on any FA WRs this offseason.  Shore up other positions as much as possible before the draft, otherwise round out the squad during the draft.

Super interested to see what he'll get in the open market.  Good blocker and vertical field stretcher that pairs best with a QB who can extend plays.  A low end WR2 at best though.  I wish him luck and let's hope he qualifies for a comp pick.

I’d be surprised if he gets less than $12M/year, when guys like Christian Kirk get paid and even someone like Harty gets $6M/year.

What exactly are the “cap is not real” people mean when they say that constantly?

There are always real consequences for cap maneuvering, some just come sooner then later.

It’s a similar principle as losing non-conference games helps your playoff odds 😇

I like this format. It doesn't paint a pretty picture of us having a reliable foundation of elite talent.

Looks like they've only done the AFC East so far, the Pats are predictably weak but here's the Fins and Jets for comparison:

I don’t get why some players are grouped together, some aren’t.  For instance, maybe Achane is fair being listed as good (although he had his share of injuries in year one, too).  But I would NOT list Mostert as green too, yellow at best.  He’s aging just as much as a guy like Diggs and is a RB, and is frequently banged up.  Interesting way to look at where each team stands, but I question whatever the underlying approach is.

They split the $7m over two years instead of paying it all in one season. Might have been because they believed he was going to hit the contact incentives built in? I don’t know why they chose to do it that way. Pretty rough either way though as that $4.3m is a decent chunk of change.

Q: What is your level of patience on not advancing to the Super Bowl?

A: No patience, I would already have made a change.

And yet, even moving the comma, (it should actually be a period) it still doesn't make sense in the context of the question. The first part and second part seem to contradict each other.

Excuse me while I go bang my head against the wall.

    Just embrace the chaos, man!

I keep seeing "pay cut" or restructure for Tre White.

Do you have any idea the kind of pay cut he would have to take for keeping him to be even a remote possibility? It would be an insulting amount.

We're talking about a guy that if he were on the market now would have to take an incentive laden prove it deal. He never returned to consistent form from his ACL and then tore an Achilles.

His role would be a guy coming off the bench and mixing in, hoping he can get back up to speed. He's on a 16.44m cap hit this season and a 16.67m cap hit next season for that role. And unlike some other players that we can't get out from under right now, Tre White's out in that massive contract is THIS offseason.

When we gave up a 3rd for Douglas, it was pretty clear to me then that he wasn't only the Tre White replacement for just last year. In Douglas, Benford, Johnson, and Elam - we have our 3 starters and a 1st Round Pick coming off the bench in relief.

Douglas and Johnson will be extended and Benford has been getting better and better. He's the present and the future of the CB position and you don't want to mess with that development.

I just don't see a restructure or pay cut that makes sense for both sides. Save for White being okay with going from one of the top paid CB's in Football to being paid reserve money. We're not going to extend Douglas to put him on the bench and we're not going to stunt Benford's development by sticking him on the bench either. And we don't want that much money tied up into the CB position, especially for the role he'd have and being at best, a MASSIVE question mark.

In the position we're in, we have to come up with cap space anywhere we can. There's only a handful of players who have outs in their deals this offseason. Tre is the easiest decision amongst them, if you remove emotion from the equation.

We're set at CB without him. His replacement is already in house. The only reason to not move on is it would be sad to and fans are in their feels about it. And that's simply not a valid reason when it comes to Business.

If they cut White, how much do the Bills still owe him for this year and next?  For instance, current deal, he’ll make around $16M in 2024, right?  Cut him, do they still owe him $10M for 2024?

    A. it's not a black/white issue. There are multiple levels to the onions

    2) Gun violence is a specific problem in some communities not a national problem

iii. Any statistic is only 97.36% accurate on topical face.

Also, final post here. 12+ hours after the issue. The perps haven't been named, the national story will be dropped in a few days, this will be forgotten quickly because of the narrative being false.

     Appreciate your political perspective.

there is no political opinions that were there. it was a response based upon statistics. facts are not opinions. a majority of gun deaths are suicides. Less than 2% are accidental. Somewhere around 40% are homicides. Of those I would have to check again but a small number are considered mass casualty events (4+ deaths) on the standard metric. Stanford had lowered that to 3+, IIRC. Further, of the roughly 40% of homicides, at least half are obtained illegally. The ATF put out a very flawed and critiqued report when they offered the most recent data which put in untraceable firearms in the same category as stolen guns and "other deadly weapons of destruction." Further, less than 15% of the shooters in homicides showed no propensity towards violence or a criminal background. Bringing it back up to simply gun crimes/violence;  roughly 3/4 of those committing those infractions already possess arrest/criminal records.

Regardless, these are important factors. They're not political statements. Recidivism, treatment of crime and mental illness, as well as an examination of the causation of crime/violence are pertinent to the discussion.

There are some alarming numbers of gun violence % if you remove the 6 biggest cities in the country, those cities all posses some of the strictest gun laws in the country mind you.

people flock to believe anything that confirms their bias. someone mentioned it upthread i believe. you're more likely to be bit by a person in central park than by a shark in the ocean.

Do you have a point with all the data and stats you’re throwing out there???

Not sure about shootings but I remember the Bulls and Pistons had problems at their championship parades.  Destruction of property and fires.

When the Cuse won it in 2003, I remember heading over to Marshall St and there were riot police everywhere, since people’s idea of celebrating was climbing up light poles and setting things on fire.  At least no one was getting shot at in that area though, to my knowledge.
