    I can also talk myself into a scenario that since everyone is pretty quite in the whole league the last few days that another wave

    of FA signings could start and Beane will be part of it.

     

    He can tweek a few contracts and get some cap money but he may be true to his word and not want to do too much with that.

    CBS reported they want a 3rd or 4th.  Beane’s just waiting for them to cut him.  The Eagles are still $4.5 mil. over so we’ll see.

    Didn’t the Eagles need to get under the cap by Wednesday?  I don’t understand the NFL’s rules.

    I don’t know.  If the narrative has been keep the core together, yet acknowledgment that the TE room needs to improve and Lee Smith has been traded, doesn’t it make sense that a separate vet TE will be brought in?

    I wanted to take a top overview (35,000 ft for you people that were stuck in those meetings like I was) of this years crazy FA.

    First off I truly enjoy looking through all things Spotrac and I found something interesting I want to share.

    I'm using their info and for anyone wanting to "tear into me" over this don't bother.  I did what I did for myself.

    Using todays available Cap for Free Agency (money available to the teams) and taking off a very reasonable amount of leeway.

    What I mean there is teams are NOT going to spend every penny available in FA I came up with a $ amount.

    Currently that is around $572M.  That figure comes form $780M right now available minus $208M ($6.5M team average) in

    wiggle room.  That would be money left over after FA for draft and some working space.

     

    So there is around $572M chasing FAs.  Let's take off $100M ($3M or so from each team) for signing a few no name team depth type players.

    The Bills need to sign a type of guy like Bojo, Boettger, etc)  All teams still typically need to.

    Now we are down to $472M.

     

    Now comes the crazy part.  I added up the 85 or so players (minus a few that won't get signed for various reason ie OT Fisher) from the Spotrac

    FA list that have a "Market Value" attached to them.  I'm using this as starting point as well as a lot of others do on this site.).

    That number is a whopping $817M.  Now if you say that through signing deals these players take only a 2/3 (.67) 1st year hit of their average

    "Market Value" that still comes to $548M.  Remember this is just the 85 players of the currently 769 Free Agents on the list.

    So the $472M in team money available for FA and just looking at the 85 "Market Value" players leaves a deficit of -$76M.

     

    What is further interesting is that all the recently released players (John Brown as an example) are not even figured in the "Market Value" on Spotrac!

    I reason this to be that things are moving way to quick right now and they are not going to do the calculation for these guys.

    As of right now there are 769 FAs on the Spotrac list and I was just talking about the top 85.  That leaves another 684 FAs per Spotrac!

    I have NEVER seen a FA list this long in all my years of following Spotrac.

    My conclusion is what a lot of us have been thinking.

    There are way way too many Free Agents chasing way too few dollars!  I just had to prove it to myself!

    I think there will be a frenzy to sign the marquee players and FAs targeted by teams with money but it wont last long until a good portion of

    the available FA $'s are eaten up and then the FUN will begin.

     

    All these numbers are fluid and a lot of things are happening but the basics still apply.

     

    I know Beane and his boys know this and I expect him to make us happy in the next week or so!

    FWIW and for anyone interested it took me only an hour or so to rough these numbers.

    I'm sure smart GMs and Player Agents have done the same.

     

    I expect a Free Agency period like none we have ever seen before and the Wizard is not going to let it pass.

    Think about the guys who have to sign cheap and where will they want to go.  Buffalo will be on a lot of those lists.

     

    Then again I could be totally wrong but something tells me a Super Bowl run is coming THIS YEAR!

     

     

     

     

    Watching all these other teams pay big dollars today, really hoping your prediction plays out accordingly.  Wild card might be some of these last minute cap restructures by teams, freeing up additional space to sign free agents?

    Agree, I’m putting my money on a signing like Tyler Eifert.  While he’s had  injury concerns throughout his career, so hasn’t a guy like Kroft, and I think Eifert would generally be considered an immediate upgrade at probably a similar price tag.

    Here's a few: 

     

    3 National Guardsmen died in a helicopter crash.

     

    The Governor wanted to honor them in an indoor facility--going so far as to designate it a religious event.

     

    The County Executive Bello sought to have the War Memorial as the venue. 

     

    PSE refused to hold the event, even though COVID restrictions would not apply as they would for sporting events, and the state would provide some staffing too defray costs.

I know they have ben planning it for the past four weeks, it’s just been over four weeks since the accident . I was just told there was a last minute road block with some money. “

    “Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Everyone must band together in support of a proper ceremony for the three National Guardsmen who tragically passed last month. Both the County Health Department and State have indicated that a memorial can be held safely at Blue Cross Arena. These individuals sacrificed so much to ensure the protection of all, both at home and abroad; they deserve to have their memory honored. Monroe County must do everything in our power to ensure that a proper memorial is held for our community to pay respect to these three Guardsmen.“

     

    All involved have moved on to the National Guard hanger at KROC.

    It sounded to me like Blue Cross Arena and National Guard were working together on this, although due to timing National Guard ultimately decided to hold the ceremony elsewhere.

    Might be an unpopular opinion, and I recognize that Mahomes may have been deterred b/c of his foot, but I think Josh and our o-line would have fared better than the Chiefs offense did tonight.  Not saying we would have been able to stop the Bucs offense on the other side of the ball, but pretty sure we would have put up more points than the Chiefs were able to.  I’ve seen Josh handle pressure better than Mahomes was doing tonight.

    Salary Cap Question

    I question whether players would be cut left and right, as opposed to there being a lot more contract restructuring.  If certain players are faced with taking a little to moderate pay cut versus hitting the open market and potentially taking a substantial pay cut, they might accept the former.

    At least one Pats fan I know was cheering for Brady, given the step back the Pats took plus I think there’s not much blame towards Brady that he left.  Not to mention, the guy won the Pats how many Super Bowls?  There’s lots of Pats love for the guy along with Gronk being in Tampa too.
