1. Thats unfortunate the Bills need as much OL talent as possible and he would certainly help solidyify the RT spot with green as a backup
2. ESPN.com news services PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles have released former All-Pro right guard Shawn Andrews. The former first-round pick has played in just two games in the past two years because of back injuries. He missed the 2008 training camp because of depression. The Eagles announced the move on Wednesday. "We appreciate the efforts and contributions of Shawn while he was in Philadelphia," Eagles coach Andy Reid said in a statement. "We have, however, decided to move in another direction." Andrews, the 16th overall selection in the 2004 NFL draft, was moved to right tackle last summer to replace longtime starter Jon Runyan. However, he never played a down. Andrews made the Pro Bowl in 2006 and '07 and had a contract that ran through 2015. Runyan retired from the NFL earlier this year to run for a House seat as a Republican in a historically Republican district in New Jersey. His campaign formally begins Thursday.
3. The positives in bringing him in versus negatives b/c it is always good to add to your talent and experience and he brings in both. 1: everybody wants a veteran brought in as a stop gap (check) 2: experience (check) 3: shouldnt require a large salary 4: team player (check) Negatives or question marks (to bring him in): 1: arm strength 2: durability 3: decision making (his should be better than what Bills fans have seen lately) (should come down to an invititation to interview and a physical, if the Bills deem him to be a short term asset to sign)
4. Jake Delhomme released anybody want him on the Bills? He might be worth brining in for interview and physical
5. 1 yr mentoring is priceless to help The young unit Buffalo is assembling..
6.
Jamal has four immediate suitors
5:10PM ET Jamal Williams | Chargers Top Email The San Diego Chargers will be looking for an heir apparent to Jamal Williams as the starting nose tackle in this year's draft. Possibilities include Alabama's Terrence Cody, Tennessee's Dan Williams and UNC's Cam Thomas. However, one Chargers beat writer thinks that the future might come sooner than later at the position. While breaking down the Chargers' possible game plan for April, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune wrote, "Jamal Williams might be too expensive ($6 million) to bring back, and even if he returns for 2010, he is almost certainly finished as a Charger after that." On Thursday, Kassim Osgood had an interesting tweet: "Jamal Williams is officially gone too! who is next? stay tuned." Acee confirmed the report quickly thereafter. Unless Williams' health has declined so rapidly that he can't play at all, we'd expect him to draw serious interest from the Bills -- who need a NT to convert to a 3-4 -- as well as the Cardinals, Chiefs and Dolphins, who are looking for an upgrade.
7.
Top options for Kev
2:48PM ET Kevin Mawae | Titans | Interested: Bills?, Seahawks? Top Email Kevin Mawae has been the solid anchor for the Tennessee Titans' offensive line, a unit that paved the way for Chris Johnson to eclipse the 2,000-yard rushing level in 2009. But according to what his agent has told the Nashville Tennessean, we shouldn't expect an encore performance from the 39-year-old in 2010. "Nothing has changed," Mawae's agent told Jim Wyatt. "He will definitely hit the market, but [we'll] continue to talk to the Titans." If he's not back with the Titans, we've been speculating that the Seahawks and Bills would investigate Mawae, as both of those teams have offensive lines in serious flux this offseason. Don Banks of Sports Illustrated also lists Buffalo and Seattle as possibilities. Len Pasquarelli Harris is better? "The Titans' coaches believe that three-year veteran Leroy Harris, who has three career starts, is more than ready to step into the lineup. In fact, one Titans coach insisted there 'will be very little drop-off, if any,' when Harris replaces the 39-year-old Mawae as the team's starting center. Some coaches feel that Harris might even be stouter than the rugged Mawae as a run-blocker."
8. it looks like it is fact that the Bills have a genuine interest in his services. it was reported on the late local news here in Rochester that the Bills are interested in him, bc of Chan Gaileys slasher qb role he likes to run
9. Buddy will do a superb job selecting the weakness they want to improve. its tough to say how the draft unfolds, but i feel its either OT or LB
10. I like Gresham, but I doubt he gets past the late 1st round or even the second round..
11. Perhaps, ESPN is just doing what they do best create news and suggests Vick b/c Buffalo needs a viable temporary qb.... At the same time linking all the teams that could use a mobile qb. Just b/c it is a rumour doesnt mean anything.
12. maybe they are just sorting out the candidates and taking their time to find the right candidate?. That is what I am hoping for, (bring in the right candidates for the future plans CG envisions). Either way Go Bills in 2010!
13. I'm all for somebody who has football smarts and is willing to come and contribute to something good
14. Posted January 21st, 2010 Tags: Chan Gailey, Dan Reeves One of Chan Gailey’s chief mentors in coaching is former Broncos, Giants and Falcons head coach Dan Reeves. The 66-year old former sideline boss has commented favorably on the Bills’ hire of Gailey. But now he left open the possibility of helping Gailey. Reeves has told WIVB-TV in Buffalo that he would not rule out coming to work on Gailey’s staff. “He hasn’t reached out to me,” Reeves told WIVB-TV, “but I coached him in Little League and he might give me a chance. He might come back and try to see if I could help him out.” When asked by Channel 4 if Reeves would be open to working with Gailey in Buffalo he said the following. “I tell you, if I could help Chan Gailey out, I would certainly be interested in that.” Gailey got his first NFL coaching job under Reeves in Denver as his special teams coach and later as offensive coordinator. Reeves’ last season as head coach was in 2003 with the Falcons, but reportedly interviewed for the 49ers offensive coordinator post just last January.
15. Bringing in an advisor would be nice, however i'm not aware of any assistant gms coming. But building a competent front office takes time
16. Mccnabb, Vick, Thigpen, OT Marcus Mcneil, TO to name a few candidates
17. yes, he also has guests Mike Catalana(13Whamtv in Rochester, Leo Roth and Sal Moirano from the D&C contribute as well
18. He was given an extension in 2007, but I am not sure long how it is in length
19. Now that Guy was given his pink slip 5 months sooner than his contract came up, how long does Modrak have left on his current deal?. That was we can all circle our calenders haha jk.
20. Ditto, Modrak should be on a shorter leash under Nix. The draft is coming up in a few short months, his information complied will be crucial to this draft, after that maybe he gets the pink slip. Buddy will now put his stamp on draft choices, but hopefully he will have the final say as i feel..
21. Not that it matters anymore, but I was expecting the Bills to take Orakpo (I am sure thats who most prefered him than anybody else including Oher, Cushing) we most of us would have been quite happy with that pick.
