  1. exactly, Guy had no responsibilities related to the college
  2. I am sure Modrak is on a short leash leading up to this Aprils draft. But after this draft, who knows. Does anybody know how long his contract is for much longer?
  3. if that is the case than the maintenance employees will be happy to have one less office to clean everyday for someone that did an un-spectacular job.
  4. Now that everyone can let a collective sigh of relief that John Guy is finally out of OBD ( unf it took much longer than any Bills fans hoped for). 1- what qualified candidates do you like/should to be considered for the job? this might be a tough question to get good answer/suggestions.. Something tells me somebody from San Diego might fit the job.. (which might not be a bad thing) 2- what is expected with Tom Modrak (any immininet firing on the horizon)?. My guess save it for another week when you need to make a PR move
  5. Ditto, the top OT, or Mcclain and a qb in the second, depending on who is available at eac pick for buffalo..
  6. it is about time!!! even if his contract was up at the end of this May. I wonder what will come next, at least Ralph is living up to his word "no job is safe, everyone will be reviewed". I am looking forward to more good news..
  7. source Billsdaily.com Wilson Turns Down Marty Ball? The Bills may have a coach but the rumors aren't stopping. ESPN.com's Tim Graham is reporting that Marty Schottenheimer wanted the job badly but Ralph Wilson didn't want him as the next head coach. Publicly Schottenheimer stated he wasn't interested in returning to coaching but people close to him told ESPN that he wanted the job. It would have reunited him with his good friend Buddy Nix and you would think Nix would have given him the job if Wilson signed off on it. No word on why Wilson didn't want Schottenheimer to coach. This could also explain why is son Brian wouldn't interview for the job.
  8. Hypothetically, aside from finances and the economy to support another major league franchise; having teams like the Bills and the Hot sabres (great news to western NY sports). This year. What new sports league like MLB or the NBA, MLS would you want if the NFL ever leaves Buffalo?. Fortunately there are already two major sports teams for now, (not to mention the best and most watched sport we could ever want/support). At one time Buffalo did have an NBA franchise and had some success.. I am curious to hear some comments b/c with the state of the Bills it would be nice to support at least another major professional franchise locally besides the Sabres, such as basketball or MLB. I am a big fan of the Yankees and Lakers, but they are not nearby, which esentially makes me like them since we have no true team locally. My opinion: it would be easier to support a MLB team during the spring and Summer than NBA b/c of the time of year that also occupies the sabres season. Comments?
  9. This topic has been talked about but not necessarily in these words but can any one shed any light why the Bills havent made a phone call to Brian Billick yet? After all of the A-list coaches have been contacted such as Gruden, Shanny and Cowher, Billick would seem to make sense and gauge him and have an interview based on his success as a motivator and a Super Bowl winning coach. All we have heard is "he has had no contact with Buffalo". I guess he doesnt fit them huh? which looks like it.
  10. I thought everyone should know, but I am leaving, but going to bed, b/c i know everyone will miss me, lol jk
  11. true, they dont really do any good.. it's just a way to voice your opinions that dont do much except make your self feel better and stimulate conversation.
  12. Between you and me I completely agree. Bring in someone who wants to be here, and has something to prove. However history shows proven coaches dont win all the time, so there is a chance a successful coordinator could do well for B-lo. You look at other franchises that have Hc's that have 2-4 years of experience, they are exceeding expectations which can happen for the Bills. An example about percievment: players love to play for the Bills after they arrive (the college attmosphere, the support). You hear it from former players. It all comes down to judgemental perceivment. Depending on the hire they make, If Cowher or anyone else they end up signing is unsure about coming at first, at least the coach they do get should appreciate the fans and the support from them and should be happy from that standpoint. Unfortunatley that won't be enough for a coach once they get here. That person will need support from management and ownership for important decisions, so that better change as well, until then we can only hope...
  13. YUP, unfortunatley no one does about an individuals "rant".. However the argument is understood.
  14. How could anyone???? that was ridiculous to offer an extension after only 6 games into the season, (that should be saved for after a full evaluation at the end of the season). Not that i am a fan of the NY Knicks, but they did the same dubious thing with Isiah Thomas and that did them no good.. you just have to learn from mistakes and hope you learn from them for the future and not do the same BS again
  15. I feel your pain... and can understand why and how you feel, its up to you but I suggest you ignore the negative comments others leave because most are not giving any empathy. most Bills fans should and probably do care a lot about The Bills misfortunes and want to see them make the changes that are needed to be a perennial playoff contender every year. They should be doing that if they want to be a successful franchise. Why except being marginal every year?. it is not acceptable to fans and it looks like they are trying to turn the corner.. I believe last years draft was the turning point, the franchise is doing all they can with baby steps. The Bills may not get the coach they want, but at least they are doing the right thing with personell by building through the draft instead of overpaying more than they already have too for free agents that dont fit them, Go Bills!! PS: I agree with you and feel Billick should be the next option after Cowher as an A-list coach they should consider, unfortunatley it looks like Nix or somebody else itsnt so high on him at this point, but for us fans, we can only hope for the best .
  16. After the Bills are finished with re-making their front office, I feel some trade offers might be in order the provide ammunition for this years draft. Now Buffalo has already done that with an extra pick for this years draft from last years Peters trade and a pick for Ko Simpson. I feel Buffalo should put players not in their future vision on the trading block to get more draft compensation; find out what teams might want marshawn Lynch and see if you can pry a low pick like a second rounder, hes only 23, (he's a commodity). Teams such as Detroit, tampa, Oakland need one a starting back and should come calling.. Another possibility would be to put Donte Whitner on the block as well and see what his market might give you, the Bills dont need him now with the emergence of Jairus Byrd.
  17. Maybe so, "but not everyone has discussed it". Plus it is worth a new post if some positive notes, quotes are out there for fans like us to read and discuss
  18. One thing is certain, Bill Cowher will not bring in Toms Got To Go (Donahoe), since they didint get along.. WAHOO!!
  19. From www.Billsdaily.com Front Office Update: "With the season mercifully coming to an end it will be an exciting offseason in Buffalo. Various internet reports continue to surface so we will address some of the rumors here. NFL.com is reporting that the Bills will begin a new coaching search next week now that the top guys have turned them down. Buffalo Sports Daily contradicts this report by saying that Bill Cowher now is interested in the Bills job but it may be if he can't land a job in Tampa or Carolina. John Fox is expected to stay on as the Panthers coach. A source close to Cowher told Sal Capaccio, the man who broke the T.O. to Buffalo story, that the two sides are talking or will be talking soon. The Buffalo News says the Bills have turned their attention to bringing in a football operations person first and they will let him pick the next head coach". Team Staying In Family? Sal Capaccio's report also says that sources close to several NFL coaches say "the Bills ownership situation is one of the most stable in the NFL. The report also says that Ralph Wilson's family is committed to Buffalo and that Ralph is completely committed to bringing a winner to Buffalo"
  20. Personally I hope he can at least be a football czar like the browns now have, as the director of football operations, then hire a g.m. ala jeff ireland of the Miami Dolphins. If Bill decides to keep those schmucks John Guy, and Tom Modrak, thats fine they would have to answer to them if not bring in other guys that are established. from there hire a legit HC such as Grimm (OL guru sounds good to fix the Bills OL issues), Brian Schottenheimer or someobdy eles he believes in
  21. Cowher-to-Bills back on? Bill Cowher | Steelers | Interested: Bills?, Seahawks?, Jaguars?, Texans? Top Email The rumor this week has been that Bill Cowher is leaning heavily towards returning to the NFL sidelines for 2010. The only problem -- as we're beginning to see -- is that there might not be a place for him. With the Cowboys, Bears and Panthers now out of the picture, we speculated that Cowher was down to the Bucs, Jaguars and Texans. This was predicated on the published reports that Cowher was not interested in the Buffalo Bills. But what if those reports weren't entirely true? Sal Capaccio of Buffalo Sports Daily has word from a source that Cowher is "impressed and interested" in the Bills' opening. As we know, Cowher wants to have a big say on personnel moves, and the Bills don't have an actual GM as of now. This is intriguing. Of course, there could be another surprise contender. Here's NFC West blogger Mike Sando, from Monday afternoon: Mike Sando Would the Seahawks go for Cowher? "Firing [head coach Jim] Mora after one season would not be fair. The Seahawks shouldn't make a move unless they can find someone demonstrably better. Bill Cowher comes to mind. He would be better than just about anyone the Seahawks could hope to hire. The early speculation says Carolina and Tampa Bay are the most likely suitors for Cowher if the former Steelers coach returns to the NFL in 2010, as expected. But if the Seahawks could land Holmgren a decade ago -- and the feeling around team headquarters was surreal when it happened -- why not Cowher?". Only time will tell, but this will make us Bills fans hopeful..
