  1. It was not as big of a loss on game day to me, because it really felt like KC was the better team this time. The Bills simply did not deserve to win that game, even though they had their chances.

But big picture-wise, it definitely feels worse. Beane took every shot he could, and it wasn't enough. There are a lot more holes to fill now, and seemingly not enough cap room to bring in impactful players. Even if Beane finds a way, a string of early playoff exits, combined with an abundance of ascending teams, will make the Bills less special in the eyes of top FAs. Key vets like Diggs, Poyer, Miller, Morse, and White are trending down, or may not be on the roster at all. Although Josh still likely has a few more elite years ahead of him, the next 1-2 seasons are looking a little grim. Not like two years ago, when all the Bills needed was to bring in a stud pass rusher.

  2. I'd be OK with Beane trading pick #1 for an established receiving threat, just like he did for Diggs. Not sure #28 will get that done, but #22 did the job before.

It's a critical need, why chance it with a low 1st rounder? How many blue chip WR will still be on the board by then?

  3. They always had a puncher's chance, but it's hard to imagine them beating the Ravens in Baltimore, then winning the SB with so many injured players. Sure, they would get some of those guys back on the field, but they would be far from 100%. And the DL, which was pretty healthy, never lived up to its scary potential. Throw in a shaky place kicker, and you just don't have enough to win it all.

  4. Valiant effort, but the Chiefs were the better team last night. The Bills were running he ball just to keep Mahomes off the field, because they knew the Chiefs could score on every possession. If that's your only chance to win, you are definitely NOT the better team.

The Bills even caught the one lucky break of the game with the touchback play, but they couldn't make it count.

Stinks, but not as much as the games where they could have/should have won.

  5. The Big Picture absolutely sucks, but for me it's much easier to take a loss when the Bills are clearly not the better team. They simply could not stop the KC offense last night. The only strategy that worked was pounding the rock and killing clock, but they absolutely had to score on every possession. They even got a little miracle with that touchback play. But all along, it was clear to me who the winner would be.

  6. You really couldn't ask for a better GM, regardless of what happens on Sunday.

Bottom line: he has built a perennial contender around a superstar QB. There are a lot of great teams trying to win the Super Bowl every year - there's no guarantee we'll ever win one, but Beane's Bills are always in the mix. And they're a blast to watch. It's a great time to be a Bills fan.

I ride or die with Beane, unconditionally.

  7. Offense:

Buy: Gabe Davis - I bought him before the Chargers game and can pretty much retire off of it. I'm doubling down, as he is due again, and he has torched the Chiefs in playoffs past. If he can't go, then I'm buying Knox because I can't afford Kincaid at his current price.

Sell: James Cook. Hate to say it, but I have a feeling the run game is going to struggle. The interior O-line seems shaky, and the Chiefs' DL is stout. There won't be the openings Cook needs to make the most of his running style.

Hold: Diggs. He seems pretty much settled in at 7-8 catches for 70 yards. Something is limiting him on downfield chunks, but he is still getting those critical first down yardage grabs when called upon.

    Defense:

Buy: AJ Epenesa. He's been fairly quiet, so I'm buying low because I think he's due to make a splash.

Sell: AJ Klein. Had an amazing game last week, but this is Travis Kelce time and there's not a lot of support in the defensive backfield right now.

Hold: Elam - he will have another up and down game, which seems to be his pattern. I definitely wouldn't buy, and there's not enough depth at CB to sell.

  8. I, for one, hope that the Bills do not have to face the Texans in these playoffs.

While revenge for 2020 would be sweet, I don't have the stomach for a Devin Singletary revenge game.

Then, I can see a 2006 Sabres-type scenario unfolding - the Texans exploit the Bills' injury bug to sneak in, while somehow the Packers catch a wave and win the NFC. Green Bay's luck runs out, and the Texans win the SB.

I've been a Buffalo fan for too long!

  9. Well, they invested all that money in the DL, and that unit's mostly healthy enough. Maybe they should just play with 7 down linemen. Imagine a defensive front of Floyd-Epenesa-Jones-Oliver-Joseph-Rousseau-Miller. Who needs linebackers?

On a positive note, I feel a little better knowing that we are mostly pretty healthy in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. That's where the big games are won and lost - hopefully they can play to that strength on Sunday.

LB core is trending towards Klein and Williams. For this game, I’m hopeful Williams speed will be an asset and I love his physicality. But no doubt losing Milano, Bernard and Dodson hurts. Really hoping Taron is available as he’s been an impactful player vs KC.

The Bills really need their DL to dominate the trenches, shut down the run and get after Mahomes!  Rudolph had way too much time!

Agreed - Beane has invested so heavily in DL depth, and (somewhat ironically) they are pretty healthy in that department. Might as well use the rotation to its mximum effect!

  11. I have to go with Josh's run - that was just a statement play by the leader of the team. Shakir's play was prettier, Elam's pick was a dagger, but Josh's run, more than any other play, said 'The Bills are winning this one, thanks'.

  12. I was more concerned that some dummy would hit a referee with a snowball and there would be a penalty at a really bad time. Thanks to the fans for behaving themselves!

I was also concerned that the stadium itself would buckle under the weight of all that wet snow plus the fans. Glad it held!
