Point of note: this is not out of the ordinary for the Clinton's. The..."partnership" between favored businesses and people and the State Department during Bill's administration that often diplomats in other countries (particularly those with a history of state-owned business) did not know the difference.
How to you compare that to the bribes...err contributions/strong arm/political coziness that Trumps dad used so well and Trump used to get his projects off the ground and full of tax credits.....is it that much different?
-
And Hillary, with her senate and house, will carry it to its intended goal: single payer.
Hope so...it would be cheaper and take the burden of HC off business...and you would not like it because.....?
-
Man, I'll give you credit; you may only have one note to play, but you play it pretty often.
Note to everyone considering a response to baskin's oft-repeated, forever-boring "where are the proposals?" rant.
You are welcome to point him to the bills and proposals, from a healthcare option to Zika-related funding, and he will, as every predictable leftist before him, explain that whatever you're showing him really isn't a proposal at all, simply because he has been told not to agree with it.[/quote
. Repeal the ACA....Please. Jam the Zika funding bill full of social issue crap...nice. I just read the GOP platform. My general judgment is it still supposes that supply side economics are the answer. They are not....todays economy is supply side...the middle class duldrums have suppressed demand...supply side economics are not going to help.
As far as the rest of the plaform...the proof is in the last 3 congresses. Immigration reform is nowhere because the GOP simply wants the status quo...cheap labor and illegal resident status. They know the can't deport 11 million people and they do not want any future Dems.
The GOP has had 6 years to make a point on foriegn policy with a new authorization for military force. They won't touch because they want no resposibility in foriegn policy. Abortion, block grants, making voting tougher (read the NC judgement)....thats your GOP platform.
No....you are wroung...name one piece of proposed or enacted GOP legilslation that has..or will have...a genuine positive impact ....a real impact....on your life.

Well said and I agree with most of it except the bolded section. This was never a true race. It was always a coronation and it is indeed over.
The media is a mouthpiece, bought and controlled by the folks who want HRC to be president. They didn't create Trump, they just allowed him to metastasize in order to help their chosen candidate.
The GOP is done. They should have done their serious soul searching and reshuffling in '08 but they chose instead to try to ride it out with obstructionism. That was a mistake and it might cost them their whole party. They're going to lose big, Trump will take down a few senate seats with him, and it'll be a wrap.
Blaming someone else for your problems is pathetic. The right wing media has successfully brought 30 percent of the country under their wing ...so there is that. The problem the GOP has is a complete vacancy of ideas...Trump filled this void with his smell. The GOP has the congress - where are the proposals for reducing the deficit, immigration, health care, affordable college...absoutely nothing.
Is the media stopping them?
Meanwhile at the state level the GOP has busied themselves with where people pee and pinching voting access.
Now the election is rigged.....absolutely patheic.

Of course the media would do this. He is ratings gold and from their perspective one of the easiest possible candidates for their more preferred candidate to pummel.
One of the most interesting turnarounds I've ever seen in the media comes from the Morning Joe show. Joe, at heart is a populist. So I do believe he truly was in the tank for Trump, during the primaries he on a daily basis shredded Rubio and not quite as often Cruz while incessantly propping up Trump. What I found to be curious was how much Mika also talked him up. It got so bad that many people in the media roundly criticized and mocked them for doing so and tagged their show as the Morning Trump.
Now it makes more sense, Mika all along pulled a Claire McCaskill and was doing her "duty" for the Democratic party. To say that they've done a 180 on Trump would be a massive understatement. Joe on the other hand, is a Republican. I think he did his complete turnaround on him because A) he's banging Mika and she whispers sweet silent nothings in his ear at night and B) That's what their viewers want to see and at the end of the day that's what he'll do.
In any case, this race from my perspective is almost over. Trump needs to have something shake up the race, he either needs to have a great debate or something needs to come out and hurt Hillary.
In regards to the debate, say what you will about Hillary, she's a solid debater. Knowing Trump and how ****ty of a debater he is and how the media is absolutely locked in on Trump with the sharks swirling around, I don't see that being a turning point for him.
So the media is to blame ... Maybe it was the ignorants who voted for him

It was?
"What wasn’t disclosed at the time was that the first payment would be $400 million in cash, flown in as the prisoners were released, as The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday."

I'm amazed this $400M story to Iran isn't all over the news today.
Perhaps if Trump could take some time out of his day to pound on it instead of fighting everyone in the GOP.
Ahhh, who am I kidding. He'll probably kick a puppy today. And his fans will go wild.
Maybe because it was news in January

We all know why Donald hasn't released tax returns. The left simply wants them because he is in a business (real estate) which is tax advantaged through the application of capital gains tax, depreciation and 1031 exchanges. His tax returns probably reveal that his effective federal tax rate is similar to what Romney's was and the left will make this a big story that Donald Trump uses loopholes and pays less tax than a secretary which is of course B.S. That he's an evil rich guy even though he has been audited continuously and that his taxes are most likely done to the letter of the law. The fact that Trump is on record saying that he and other wealthy people should pay more in tax and that he has donated $ millions to charity (of his own money or raised on his show) won't be aired. The media will mostly fall in line with the left and promote the story of evil. That and there is still time for Harry Reid to stand up and say that Trump doesn't pay his taxes and cheats the system. I'm sure you remember the Reid bit and how widely what he said was reported and how almost none of the media reported the real story which was that Reid made knowingly ridiculous and false statements about a presidential candidate solely for the benefit of his party.
So at the end of the day, Trump probably won't release tax records because the children can't be trusted with them.
Wha? If Trump released his tax returns and HC didn't ...surely you would be using the same logic to.....

Well I don't believe he has a magic wand to fix all of that in that manner. However, a start would be to grow the !@#$ing economy which has been stagnating since it got blown the hell up back in 2008. It's clear that BO and his minions didn't have a !@#$ing clue on how to do it. I doubt the Liary does either, if she thinks her man knows so much about how to grow the economy.
Do you have any ideas on the conditions and aspects that have lead to our current economic circumstance?
Unless voters do - and can identify a candidate that addresses a change in the circumstances that have produced the current status - we get the government you deserve.

LOL. this dude baskin has the highest ratio of arrogance to ignorance on this forum. that's saying something.he probably thinks Bernie is an example of neoliberal
At least you didnt call me a liberal! This board loves to label...especially when bad outcomes can somehow be tagged "liberal"... Or neo liberal for what its worth. The "NL" policy free trade etc was championed by the conservative right with the afterthought that those displaced would mythically be brought up with trickle down economics.
It is now somwhat ironic that - at least here in the US - that the GOP nominee is being championed by displaced GOP voters to rectify their displacement.... will need "liberal" type policies to fix.....
-
A rough equalization of wages between third world wages and first world wages has always been part of neo-liberal economics but not a part of globalization that has been widely proclaimed to the working class in the first world - usually our trade deals come with propaganda that says yes we will lose some low paying jobs but we will be replacing them with higher paying jobs, sadly these higher paying jobs have never materialized in numbers that can maintain our middle-class - hey Magox many people are doing worse than their parents and they are pissed about it, why do you find that surprising? btw it's not just in America it's in the UK, France, Italy - you'd probably like to tell them "yeah globalization has sucked for you but the alternative is worse" and maybe that is true but the neo-liberal economists have lied to these people for 40 years so good luck getting them to believe you now.
I think you are more than a little quck to label the concept of free trade as "neo liberal". This board always so anxious to label and pick sides. Free trade hardly what "liberals" pushed.
That being said ...ignoring those displaced by trade policies is the issue here and Pat Buchanon is correct to call out the economists who ignore this. Not everyone is going to go to college and write code.......

Exactly as much, to be fair.
I'm repeatedly told lately that what I hear is what I am to believe, regardless of why my lying eyes tell me.
When a man tells me he must use the little girls' bathroom because he thinks he's a girl, I'm told he is, in fact, a girl and not only can he use the little girls' bathroom, but we will call this person courageous and give them an award.
When a lifelong Democrat who has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to put Democrats in office over a 40-year span tells me he is suddenly the most conservative Republican around, I'm told that this is also true and I should join with other conservative Republicans to ensure he becomes the next president.
So when a brown-skinned person named Omar has multiple guns, has been to Afghanistan twice in the last four years, openly claims allegiance to a terrorist group, and murders 50 gays in a nightclub as payback, in his words, for the US bombing his people, I'm supposed to now NOT believe what I'm told but rather believe that he's really a confused gay having a bad day?
Yeah, okay.
Hiding in a corner of a gay nightclub watching a brown man named Omar scream Allahu Akbar while murdering homosexuals at point-blank range with a semi-automatic weapon.
That, and a Rosie O'Donnell movie marathon on TNT.
I believe you are mixing your want and need to call this terrorism in a little too much....as usual....glossing over the details and layers to suit your agenda
-
You've proven my point; thank you.
And I have no clue what you're talking about with "your world."
I am most certainly a Christian.
I'm most certainly not a lefty.
But maybe it helps you to categorize everyone neatly in boxes so you that feel justified in your feelings about the world.
Don't you understand - on this board if you criticize the right you are by default a liberal...
6. The major issue of what you bring up was 100% flamed by Barrack Obama. He has divided this nation so strategically and thoroughly that it will be a long time to repair.
Or - the 40 percent of the US who could not get over having a black president divided it.....
-
I would like to see specific samples of this, but you can't lose your rights without due process, so whatever it is you're referring to, if we ARE taking away rights without due process, then I have a problem with that as well.
We just spent four years listening to phucktards say they were okay with Obama's executive actions because someone else did something like it. We don't need to be that phucktard just because we're pissed about the GOP.
TOTALLY AGREE...freedoms have costs and side effects - free speech leads to phucktards like Rachel Maddow and others...likewise the highest gun violence rate in the free world is simply the cost of freedom that we are willing to live with....
-
He's right, and you're a racist.
Always with the name calling here...
-
I disagree.I don't think Obama gives a rat's asshair about the shootings except to see them as an opportunity to push his agenda.
This murder had virtually nothing to do with the way guns are sold in America and precisely everything to do with a terror attack, but what did Obama talk about?
Gun control.
Every 'mass' shooting is another chance for him to push his cause.
He may feel badly for a brief moment, but you can bet your ass the minute he hears the death toll going up, he's getting his typical gun control speech tee'd up for an address...usually right before he takes off for a fundraiser.
You need to give it up too....
-
His divisive polices and rhetoric have probably done more to promote mass shootings than prevent them.
Give it up.
-
And common sense can't be allowed to derail well entrenched agendas either... on both sides of nearly any issue.
One of the people he contacted went to the FBI.
Just imagine the carnage if he was a suicide bomber without a gun.
At this point, what difference does it make? Our girly-man President can't and won't protect the GLAM community. Neither will the hag Hillary. But let's move businesses out of North Carolina.
What should BO have done? (BTW - he didn't move any businesses out of NC)
-
I'm so angry at the progressive agenda pushing machine for using this despicable act of heinous terrorism on US soil where many Americans were killed wounded and emotionally harmed to push their agenda to strip Americans of our freedoms and constitutional guaranteed rights. I'm disgusted. Have they no shame? Any idiot that goes along with this bull **** and blamed .our selves and our own freedoms for "allowing" terrorists to be terrorists don't deserve to be citizens of this country and have their freedom protected by the constitution
Well this case has it all:
- American citizen born and bred
- Second Amendment guaranteed him access to guns
- FBI surveilled him but could not do anything further without illegal search
You say - liberals are blaming ourselves and our freedoms for creating this person.....well this guy was a US citizen born and bred - are you suggesting that some US citizens should not be granted the same rights as others?
How are you going to pick out the US citizen terrorists who don't deserve these rights?
-
Too early to make that declaration, even though that's the narrative they are hoping catches on.

Then you could have just answered that the rifle in his possession was capable of firing off multiple rounds inflicting serious damage in a crowded place with defenseless humans.
What did the gun shows have to do with the question that Justice asked?
So your point is I mentioned gun shows...?
Unable to develop independent thought, you attempt to mimic and mock your way past the predictability of your ideologies.
I'm watching the Twitter world embarrass the living snotrag out of people like you who see a Islamic terrorist attack on US soil against homosexuals, and immediately think 'US gun control.'
But hey...at least you didn't piss off any Muslims, so you've got that going for you, amirite?
Nutbag.
Predictability of MY ideologies? Wha? Someone asked how technically one person could inflict such damage - I say semi auto with a large clip (I guess I should have said magazine). Then multiple posters PREDICTABLY take that and parse it into left/right conservative/progressive missives and mix in some religious spice for good measure.
You guys are comically pathetic.

You do realize that the Daily News is a very left-wing, Trump-hating newspaper, don't you?
You do realize that LA was injecting the ole left/right points in a response to my post and so I simply changed a couple of words to his reply to show how simple its is to show the hypocrisy on this board
Actually, it hilights the fact that there are, in fact, bigots on both sides of the aisle, contrary to the thousands of posts on social media claiming that the right perpetuates this.
But yeah, rush to your corner. That'll fix it.
I didn't rush to my corner - at all - you guys did
