  1. Stevie Johnson's gotten lots of love... who is Shawn Anderson???
  2. These are not good compares... not only were Losman and Edwards nowhere near what Merriman's been, but the "love" for them was always split. Both had lots of detractors and both had lots of people that wanted to get behind them and hoped they succeeded (God, we need a QB),... but that's not "love" Comparison to Chris Speilman would be better...
  3. Ditto,... its unfortunate he hasn't been successful, but not a bad guy.
  4. OK,... someone has to say it Moss opposite Lee Evans would light up the league. With Roscoe Parrish in the slot they'd be unstoppable. Add in David Nelson and there would 2 tall guys to throw to on 3rd down. Stevie Johnson to the inactive list... sorry. Couldn't keep a straight face typing that....
  5. More details for those of us that are video impaired.....
  6. We traded Peters for a #1 and something else?? What players has he turned into. The #1 was Eric Wood, I believe (or is it Levitre)?
  7. Its just confounding... even if he doesn't have good football sense, he should be at least a Special Teams wrecking machine. A young fast linebacker fits that profile to a tee. Obviously that's not why you draft someone at #11, but it utterly amazes me that he can't at least do that for the team.
  8. Can anyone explain without all the vitriol toward Maybin exactly why he's so bad? On paper this switch to a 3-4 defense should have suited him perfectly. I haven't watched many Bills games this year and don't live in the area to attend camp/preseason/practices -- At 250lb (or even a bit lighter) I get that he's not a good DE, but he should be the right size for LB -- He's fast,... he's got to be faster than Chris Kelsay, who's starting -- He went to Penn State, he's got to be able to tackle -- As stated above, he seems to have an attitude where he wants to excel -- If he's too weak, thats a fixable condition given that we've hired 2 hardcore Strength Coaches in the offseason ... so what specifically is the disconnect with this guy??
  9. I'll agree with that!!! I'm getting queasy already...
  10. A bunch of good questions by Sullivan in there.... hmmm I could either write 10 more paragraphs or nothing more. Given how disheartening this all is I'll go with the 'nothing more'
  11. I agree completely... the bottom line with Lynch was that he was either going in trade or going for nothing a year later. In either case the Bills were going to lose him before they got much better, so he wasn't part of the solution. It simply comes down to when is the best place to get the most value... draft time, end of preseason or in-season injuries. In-season seems to be the time when its most likely to find the most desperation for someone to acquire a proven player. So that's now. Its always tough trading for draft picks, because teams just value them too much, plus when you look at when a player was drafted it seems like your getting ripped off. Clearly nobody was ready to give a 3 for him. If the Packers were interested, they clearly will be drafting near the end of each round, so it seems the 4th is the best that can be done. They got another pick thrown in, which is not too bad. Seattle is a team looking to get better over the longer run, so its a good deal for them, but they weren't going to give away the store for him.
  12. I was NOT buying into a Kyle Orton trade, he's totally not a solution here. I would advocate trading those who will no longer be useful 2 years out either because they're too old (McGee, Stroud) or won't resign (possibly Lynch).
  13. OK, I thought he his contract was up this year... my bad.
  14. Isn't the fundamental point with Lynch that his contract is up after this year and there's 0.00% chance that he resigns with the Bills. Isn't this the same as when bad teams trade players at the trading deadline in Hockey and Baseball?? Get something/anything for somebody that you'll otherwise lose and get nothing for 2 months later. The only measure of any players value now is who will be a stud on this team two seasons out... In my mind Lynch, Jackson, Evans, Stroud, Whitner, McGee are all available... everyone except Kelsay (gag!). Any player we're keeping should have less than 3 years in the league and under contract for at least the next two seasons.
  15. For all the critics of any related to Trent Edwards and how he was handled, this article puts it in the right perspective Bob DiCesare Buff News Opinion ... says it all and its the right sequence of events.
  16. What position was Urbick playing, did they have him at RT?
  17. Just imagine how POed we would be if Schobel hadn't retired and this was happening on both sides of the field... we'd have uncoverable 3rd tight ends
  18. Should clarify that you're talking about Dwan Edwards, not the other guy....
  19. OK, lets assume for a minute that this is the '85 Bills, who ended up worst in the league. This is the year of the Bullough/Stevenson regime a year before Levy took over. Lets assume that we'll be among the worst in the league (not a stretch) and lets also assume that we'll take 3 years to recover (work with me) If you review the starting lineup from that time, only 4 Bills lineup remain relevant 3 years later when the team significantly improved to make the playoffs; Andre Reed, Jim Richter, Fred Smerlas and Bruce Smith Historical Bills Starting Lineup So the question is, who on the present squad will be relevant 3 years from now, ASSUMING the Bills can turn it around in that time frame. My guesses; -- CJ Spiller -- Eric Wood -- Jarius Byrd Possibilities who are currently backups (other rookies besides Spiller are huge unknowns, so I won't list them) -- Leodis McKelvin Who else?? That's how much roster turnover is still ahead of us.... ugh!
  20. thx... hmmm, I guess we don't like it.
  21. I haven't seen it discussed in this thread, but ESPN Rumours is saying that a trade could be Lynch for AJ Hawk (LB). Apparently he barely played against the Eagles. I didn't realize he was in the doghouse in GB. Not sure if there would have to be any draft pick adjustment to that one? I'm ignorant of Hawk lately, but I know he was picked very high 5th or 6th overall a couple years ago. Lost track of him in Green Bay. Do we like that one?
  22. I was also glancing through that Draft history and it explains completely why we're so bad. Inability to hit home runs on the first round. JP Losman (QB), McGahee/Lynch (RB), McCargo (DT) Maybiin (DE) and Mike Williams (T). These are the highest paid positions (plus CB) and core of successful teams. All misses, plus we gave up 2nd round picks for Losman and McCargo increasing the impact. That says nothing of Whitner, Evans, and McKelvin, none of who are home runs Jury still out on others...
  23. Gets a lot of abuse on this board, but he's going to have his 39th start out of 52 games this week. While by no means a star, isn't he pretty much everything that can be expected from a 6th round draft pick? Who stacks up? Bills Draft History
  24. ESPN Power Rankings Just kidding, we're right where we belong! Have at it....
