I don't understand what the Dolphins are doing.
They’re trying to break it all down and not pay old ppl big money contracts. Yet simultaneously “trying” to sign to plug holes to “look” good to the fan base
they really should have drafted A TE this year knowing they were t gonna get a deal done w Jonnu

I find this interesting actually
beanes an emotional dude. It is what it is. Starting to come through more and more as time goes on. In the beginning it’s endearing and welcomed change of vigor
but with each passing year of not getting it done (beating chiefs or getting to a Super Bowl) he’s starting to be too emotional
and that’s my biggest gripe with this org. They’re too culture centrric. Everybody believes. And loves each other. It affects their draft picks and priorities in offseason. And it affects their contracts.

This is so true. We are pretty much waiting for hindsight to dictate how we feel about this guy when it's all said and done.
But history tells us that no coach /qb combo this long together will win a Super Bowl. So we’re waiting for improbability in my view. That’s why I was for moving on from him after :13 seconds

From pellisero and pft:
The Bengals are moving on from Germaine Pratt.
Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, Cincinnati will release the veteran linebacker on Monday.
Pratt, 29, requested a trade from Cincinnati back in February. But the Bengals held onto him until the tail end of the offseason program.
Pratt was set to make $5.2 million in base salary for the last year of his contract. By releasing him, the Bengals will save $5.85 million against the cap
Bengals dgaf about defense!
Gotta free up space I guess for trey Hendrickson

Yes and no, he is important to the team but is he worth 15 Million, no way.. He is no Sequon Barkley or Jahmyr Gibbs by any means. Barkley is a better running back by every metric. Jahmyr Gibbs is a much more explosive back and runner than James. James I believe is a better run after the catch type of guy but he does not have the power of the other two backs I mentioned.
But it comes down how he is used in our offence in which he excels. Honestly I think he can be replaced as well, with any top RB coming out of college today, they are all a dime a dozen, and they all have unreal speed and they all can catch the ball. Is 15 million to much yes, 8 to 10 million maybe.
This is my opinion and everyone will have a different take on Cook and how he benefits this team as a player. But he is replaceable.
He is pretty comparable to Gibbs. Go watch the lions game again. Tell me who’d you rather have. Anyone’s “replaceable.” We can put Devin Singletary and Zach moss back there again if you want.
you then contradict yourself by saying “any top RB” is dime a dozen. What?
you just don’t think he’s worth 15M got it. That fine.
Up until this year the power question was valid. But this year James cook really put that to bed. Honestly sick of the gaslighting of people to try and justify their $ argument. Dude runs thru KC defense in AFC Championship game. And again go back to lions game - I believe his first td run - he runs thru 5 dudes at the goal line with awesome contact balance
he’s our most explosive offensive weapon outside of Josh. I don’t where I fall on the $ number. But if Shakir , Benford , Groot got paid who are all solid players…. James cook needs to be paid … it’s that simple.

For sure. Why I really really am jaded and cringe when we draft senior bowl , 5-6 year college players, that didn’t dominate in the acc.

Weird everyone @GunnerBill keeps telling me Ladd is a slot / couldn’t be drafted by the bills/ not outside / not vertical threat.
Nonsense. Beane whiffed. Gets so caught up on role / position type / fit/ culture. Just draft BPA man.
Ladd was a polished , professional NFL wr with good ras and good production at the best school/ conf in the country
instead we went with a completely rough basketball player , who looks awkward and quite frankly isn’t that great at contested catches

I didn’t say he was particularly good at all WR aspects. You’re right, he’s not. But problems releasing off the LOS is a reason some WRs get moved to the slot, which helps cover up that issue to an extent. When defenders get their hands on Kincaid, he isn’t strong or savvy enough to break away quickly. It’s probably worse for him that he’s listed as a TE since refs seem to allow more contact with TEs than WRs.
My point was more that he is a poor blocker - abysmal coming out of college and still below average - and as such he doesn’t give an offense the advantage 2 TE sets typically give in the run game. So your point is well taken. If he isn’t going to be an effective blocker he needs to make up for that by being a very good receiver. He's never going to be fast for a WR, so he’d better get stronger or more savvy.
They have him go get DBs downfield. Hes plenty good enough to be effective. They never have him take on DEs….
we didn’t draft him to block. It doesn’t factor into my decision as to whether he’s a good player.

From a monetary standpoint , I agree.
McD is not one to move on from his homegrown players easily.
Elam is a fine example of hanging on too long
AJ is serviceable or better , and yea McD is really about his 4 man rotation up front. So he still fits the mold Sean wants up front imo
Ehh - they shed boogie pretty quick

It won't matter if neither one of them cannot beat out Hamlin. Hamlin is also underrated. He's not excellent, nor is he really good. But he doesn't make many mistakes and he doesn't cause a lot of problems. He lacks speed and athelticism to make the plays or close them out but those are not evidence of mistakes.
Oh I’m with you. Hamlin is a ceiling backup player. Rapp is ok. But also a journeyman. I don’t think he’s great in pass game. He made a lot of hustle long chase down td saving plays last year. Which I’m sure McD splooges over.
our safeties were metrically bottom 2-3 unit in league . Also worst 3rd down D. And I’m sure worse at 3rd and long. The safeties have a big part in that
I want bishop and the rookie from Ohio st starting next year

We need to improve and I feel Forrest is already an upgrade and we have a guy who is going into his 2md year we need to develop. Or at least see if he can be the guy.
Bishop right now can't beat out Forrest. BUT... he should be given every chance throughout the year.
Cole bishop can’t beat out Forrest? He better !

Warner has HoF instincts. Warner’s brain in Edmund’s body may have been the greatest ILB in NFL history.
I don’t know about that. Edmund’s is too tall and thin base. He gets run over and run on too much for my liking. But as a roaming space occupying pass defender he was OK/good. He really didn’t show up against good teams - Mahommes and Kelce abused him

I think Steve Smith gave the best analysis of Keon Coleman's rookie year.
To sum it up...Keon has work to do. It isn't just his lack of downfield speed, it is his footwork. Well, it is a number of things. I hope he is going the Shakir route and reaching out to Moulds in the offseason, or Andre Reed.
Never a fan of the pick.
When BTJ started to fall, I was hoping they would trade up for him. He was the consensus 4th WR in a stacked WR draft. He had at least Coleman's contested catch ability, his size, but he also had sub 4.4 speed, ability to get open deep, and being far better in most routes. In short, BTJ was a far better prospect
I think Beane said he tried to trade up for BTJ, but teams wanted his 2nd rounder, which he didn't want to give up. But what he didn't say whether he offered anyone one of his 2 2025 2nd round picks. A team like Pittsburgh at 20 or Philly at 22 might have taken one of those to move down.
Instead, he kept his 2nd in 2024 and drafted Cole Bishop, a guy that really didn't do much to impress in his first year. We traded down with the Chiefs, and swapped a 4th to move up into the 3rd and picked a 3 tech in Dewayne Carter.
Just a year later he used both of those 2025 2nd round picks to move up and take...another 3 tech. Keep in mind that Carter and Sanders are playing behind/spelling Ed Oliver.
IDK, between 2024 and in 2025, I see a great deal of maneuvering, Im not seeing a great deal of benefit. Sanders better be the true stud they hope he is.
We got a pretty meh WR and with a little work, we could have gotten a bona fide stud.
Great post. It’s why Jeremy and Wgr are correct. Beane and the org don’t value WR to the same degree

Never know what beane and the bills ACTUALLY knew or discovered. I imagine the player and agent likely sugar coated it. Unless they talked to the girl (no way anyone from nfl or bills did) or had access to her statements she gave to police or campus officials (I doubt it) then I think it’s highly probable t what the bills knew and today’s lawsuit with details are not the same.
I bet there’s some surprise today at OBD / Beane with these details. just most likely scenario
The good thing Beane did was sort of pin it on the league -“ well if it was an issue then the nfl wouldn’t have him at the combine or at the draft.” Good move
