Notice you took out Robinson to help prove a point.    Outside of the offensive line, Barkley and Gibbs are elite receiving threats.  Can we all admit that Cook while ok in that respect can also be frustrating to watch catch the ball?  Do we really want to compare Cook and Henry as runners or blockers?   Listen I really like the guy too.  I'd love to see him on the Bills for a few more years.  But lets be realistic about who is beyond our emotional attachment to him.

John Candy No GIF by LaffHe had two dropped tds 2 years ago. Frustrating. But he’s caught some filthy ones. Dallas home game

    he’s really

good. Beanes chosen to offer medium to top 10 money to meh players. Rousseau. Cook is 3x the player he is. Pay him

  2. This isn’t Shaun Alexander from sea who had a bazillion td short yardage.

    cook is explosive. Super explosive

both in pass and as a runner

    SF td in the snow!?

lions td where they pulled his hair

id pay him bw 12-15. Knox makes too much $ for what he provides. And beane mismanaged building young depth at DL and WR the last two drafts (not this year). Instead of having to pay 10+ million on part time players on DL could save and sign our young home grown playmaker

Rapp actually times slower than Hamlin.  Rapp also times slower than Buffalo's starting linebackers.  I actually doubt if Rap times faster than any of Buffalo's linebackers.  He's smart, and that's why he has enjoyed some success with Buffalo, but if almost any receiver gets behind him with the ball, and he's the last line of defense, chalk up six points for the bad guys.  Both Rapp and Hamlin have to keep the play in front of them or bad things happen.

Rapp got torched in den playoff game for that early deep td

our safeties stink. Want two new starters this season

One reason I like our chances is we went from virtually no depth after 2023 to what's shaping up to be a very deep team this year. Injuries happen in the NFL. Maybe this will be the year the Chiefs and Eagles get worn down. It would take a catastr0phic series of injuries to completely derail us. Beane has done an excellent job reinforcing our weaknesses.

If Bernard or either starting  corner or Shakir goes down . We’re in trouble. Disagree on the depth. Season after next with a year under their belts this draft class should be good depth

I think too many people today make erroneously quick judgments.  He did not come back from injury strong and Beane called him out on it.  So let’s see how he responds.  My guess is it will be in a positive manner.  I don’t see anything suggesting he’s a diva.

And Worthy?  Not bad but all his Super Bowl stuff was garbage time.

    Glass half full guy.

I didn’t say he was a diva. I just think he’s mediocre and an awkward football player

Let’s also pump the brakes on hyperbole.  I don’t think most people are putting Coleman and greatness in the same sentence.  My stance is that it is not unreasonable to think players can improve with more time in the league.  Too many people are writing this kid off after a rookie season truncated with injury.  He has to continue putting in the work; his GM and HC have made that public.  So let’s see how he does assuming that work is done.  He has the athleticism to be a strong contributor.

And this is just my personal pet peeve but can we please drop the slow stuff.  The difference in actual distance with a fraction of a second or two difference is around 2 feet.

I hear that. Def room for improvement. I just wouldn’t bank on it with him. He RETURNED from injury for much of the late season and post season. And looked really bad. Complete no show non factor in 3 playoff games. Where as cough cough. Worthy looked… well good.

edit. Sorry. He did “draw” a DPI penalty vs tre white for interfering with him vs ravens

I remain cautiously optimistic on Coleman. I hate the way his season ended, you never want to see a developing player end the season worse than he started, but that two game stretch of Tennessee and Seattle showed a glimpse of his potential. I don't expect him to hit his ceiling in year two, he has a lot he needs to work on and progression is not always linear, but hopefully he can get back on a positive trend line this year. Our roster as constructed can afford Bishop or Carter to bust IMO, but we can't afford Coleman to bust.

And this is one thing I disagree with @GunnerBill on, I do think Coleman has the body type and skill set to play outside although it will never be as a separation specialist. I expect the Bills to keep trying him outside and if he fails to develop they will make him a big slot as a fall back option.

So he’s just super up and down. Seattle game is perfect microcosm. He owns the big corner at goaline for great contested TD.

and then in the same game. He’s open for a deep honey hole laser from Josh. And he looked. So. Awkward. Attempting to catch it. Like alligator arm but worse

to me- he’s a basketball player that’s super awkward half the time at football at the catch point. He’s not great at change of direction. And he’s .

    slow.

and he’s not even that great at contested catches. Wasn’t in college (like 50%?) and pros was 37%!

let’s pump the brakes on any greatness for Coleman here folks

    1. Yea. I very strongly disgaree.

    2. I think that's fair on Palmer.

    3. I am really not. My point about this draft is not there was a guy to transform us this year that Beane missed on. It is that the things he prioritised over and above a developmental vertical receiver on day 3 are indicitive of the urgency and priority he attaches to the position. Maybe none of the developmental guys in the class ever amount to anything. But Beane's two best receiver picks were day 3 developmental guys that did. And you miss every shot you don't take. There were intriguing developmental options there. The Bills had at least four of them in the building for visits. And they instead focused on TE3, and a Cam Lewis upgrade etc.

    4. Of course the Bills are hard to defend. They have Josh freaking Allen. But there were teams who were able to do it. The Bills will be a top 5 scoring offense again. I have no doubt about that. But just saying that is good enough and not seeking out more talent for Josh is a mistake.

If people are mad about this draft in isolation because we didn't get a receiver that's one thing. I think this is my favourite Beane draft since at least 2019 and has the potential to be his best since 2018. But I am worried about his approach to receiver. Not just in this draft. More generally. I don't think he does prioritise it sufficiently.

He has no problem on multiple swings at the plate for DL and CB for prime drafting slots. But wr never gets a chance. I just don’t think you can hope for Keon Coleman to be anything.  Would have / should have double dipped last year. Walker I think was a reach this year. He’s Jordan Phillips w a back issue that won’t go away. Rather he not have traded up. And take the csu wr.

the more I think about it . Listening to beane talk and how he defends himself. I think the only reason he drafted Coleman. And again he traded back cuz all the wr options were meh at that point. So he didn’t LOVE Coleman. Is because he made the move to dump Diggs (which was the right move). I know that sounds obvious. But I seriously believe , in part, that he did it to save face w Josh and the fan base / media.

I think last years draft is gonna suck when it’s all said and done. Cole bishop better turn into a starter and a player . Carter gonna be a backup and an out of position player and maybe even cut soon. Once again. Picks 1-3 are super meh. And decent mid to late round picks.

I posted this in a different thread.

eagles beat KC not because of their pass rush, but because of their corners. Against the Bills , Mahomes was getting the ball out in <2.5 sec. And completing key third downs because our corners were to far back and gave up easy quick throws. Even the best edge isn’t getting there in 2 sec.

The DL comes into play when Mahomes sees his first and second reads are covered. Now we are beyond 2.5 sec and DL can get home.

I really think press coverage couple with aggressive pass rush is how you beat Mahomes. I’m hoping to see more aggressive CB play on 3rd and short /mid this year.

But eagles play a lot of zone. They basically play the exact defense we want to. But I agree with your point. They played TIGHTER zone than we do. They matched quicker and faster - their safeties and DBs and Lbs are better….

I also think kc has such a familiarity w us. But not Philly. Led to a tough day for kc

Yeah I disagree. Like I mentioned above Cooper's two deep completions in the Chiefs game won us the game. He had that crazy downfield catch for a TD against the Jets, which was our only TD pass all year of 20+ yards. No one else on the roster was making those plays. Most of our other downfield passes throughout the year were on broken plays where Allen just made magic happen all on his own. And opposing defenses agreed with me because once we added Cooper a lot of other things in our offense opened up. Opposing defenses weren't changing the way they played when it was just Coleman and Hollins running those routes, in fact they dared us to try them. Our passing offense had fallen apart and Cooper's addition got it back on track.

Yea beane keeps going to the well - we went 8 games straight of scoring 30! Scored more points than anyone….

But. - those two games vs playoff teams DIRECTLY before that streak. Ravens and Texans. The offense looked BAD. We had no WR / separation. Beane panicked and traded his highly coveted 3rd round to get Amari for half a season! And it wasn’t all roses and sunshine when he got here. McDermott was being super weird and coy like he was mad the trade was made.

amari absolutely changed the offense dynamic.

the problem w McDermott and Beane - is they get comfortable / settle.  We’re good enough here …. I’d argue - you never can get good enough unless you’re hoisting the Lombardi at the end of the year. Both the coach and gm every year after getting bounced by kc or crushed by Cincy - “we had a good year , keep trying” “don’t blow it up” then they cite their “accomplishments” div title , team ranks, ect ….

  11. Im with rocky above

    cautiously optimistic.

tj sanders is exciting - is he just a taller Ed Oliver ?

Walker - is he just Jordan Phillips but w a back injury - a pars defect isn’t something that “heals”

Landon - man I hope he turns into maxx crosby. But he feels at worse - a carbon copy of Groot and AJE. Only had 6.5 sacks last year ….. would like to see more finish ….

Didnt like the way Beane handled himself today. If you're letting the WGR clowns fire you up you must really be butt hurt about the topic. Not a good look. Then you bring in Elijah Moore the same day. After you've dumpster dove (like previously posters said) on guys like Sherfield, Beasley and Brown again, etc....

He sounded like a fan on the side of bills FO can do no wrong. Like bob from Kenmore calling in

Ha, only in the media's mind. There's no pressure on Beane. And anyone thinks it's time to clean house deserves the Bills having a 25-year playoff drought.

I’m not saying he’ll be fired. Media / fan scrutiny and pressure. You don’t think he feels pressure ? At all? He wouldn’t act like he did today then

I think Jerry is wrong. It is not McDermott's influence. It is Hurney and Gettleman's.

GM comes from team that undervalues drafting receivers and undervalues drafting receivers. More at 9.

    100. This is the Carolina panthers 2.0. OL DL qb. Then a big tall wr (kelvin Benjamin and Keon Coleman) and fill out roster  best you can .

And that's the ugly side of this fanbase. The belief like their entitled to championships but the coach/gm/owner/whoever is denying them that.

Maybe. I’m not sure we feel entitled. Scared more like it. We know this is as close as it may get. Josh Allen’s and Jim Kelly’s don’t come around but every 30 years.

so every little detail will be magnified

beane knows it. He just worsened the pressure today - he’s put Kincaid and Coleman and himself on the spotlight for having to come through.

Yes. That’s the psychology of it. He thinks he’s doing a good enough job.  But it’s all about winning championships. To me. To most of the fanbase

  18. Yea I’m not sure how anyone could have listened to that interview and not feel that BB was defensive. And angry.

usually when people are like that - is because it’s true (BB/ bills under value WR) or feels like outsiders view him as not doing an overall good job as a GM / attacked
