Certainly possible. I don’t think I’d do that if I were Knox though. I’d take my $5M and go play for another team where I’d make a lot more than $2M.

Maybe. But how many guys have left teams for perceived "greener pastures" only to end up miserable and full of regret? He may think that the Bills are his best fit. We may never know. Hopefully, the decision ends up mutually beneficial for both parties.

I don’t really understand Von and Knox taking pay cuts. What leverage do the Bills have in this scenarios? They can’t really cut these guys due to the dead cap. Why do the players say yes?

With VM, maybe there are still some unresolved issues behind the scenes with his domestic violence situation that the team knows and we don't which don't leave him and his agent in the best negotiating position? Could be any number of reasons.

I have an axe to grind… talking about Diggs in the Diggs topic.

But you don’t have an axe to grind….talking about McD and the defense in the Diggs topic.

this is just sad. You don’t even disagree with me. Lmao. The defense has nothing to do with Diggs having 30 yards per game most postseasons

Nobody is stopping you from talking about Diggs. I made a comment upthread about the defense being a bigger liability than Diggs in the playoffs but you didn't want to hear it and keep engaging and throwing out words like inane and sad. You're entitled to your opinion about Diggs and you can do it without attacking a differing opinion. I did talk about Diggs in a Diggs thread. I said he wasn't the biggest reason for the team's failures in the playoffs. Move on.

That's the thing...the NFL doesn't actually award comp picks for hiring minority coaches...they are awarded for having your minority coaches hired away from you.  It makes absolutely no sense, but awarding teams picks for actually hiring minority coaches would be so flagrantly illegal, not even the NFL could get away with it.  It's a complete joke.

Regardless, my point was that, like the salary cap, coaches should not be included in the comp pick formula. It should strictly be for players lost and their salaries which directly affect the cap.

Well clearly nobody knows the formula as well as they thought but there are some things that are very simple about it:

    1. You lose a minority coordinator to a HC position or senior personnel guy to a GM position and you are awarded two 3rd round comp picks in the subsequent two drafts.

Coaches salaries are not factored into the salary cap, and rightfully so, so it's asinine to have the hiring of coaches...minority or otherwise...factored into the compensatory pick formula, IMO. If they want to award draft picks for hiring minority coaches, that's fine, but those picks should all be given after the 'Mr. Irrelevant' selection is made. Goodell and his cronies never fail to disappoint.

Can people stop with the "Millennials" stuff? He was born in 94. One year later and he would have been Gen Z. I think you're referring more to Gen Z's than Millennials. You do realize that there are a lot of Millennials in their early 40's now, right? And a lot more are in their late 30's. Or are you one of those ones where anyone born from 1980 until now is a Millennial?

Generally speaking, I don't think most people care about the difference between a Millennial, a Gen X, a Gen Z, or anything in between or after. 'Boomer' seems to have become a generic catchall for anyone perceived as older and set in their ways and 'Millennial' seems to have become a generic catchall for anyone perceived to be younger and clueless. As a near 40-year old, you're probably perceived as a Boomer to anyone in their 20s or younger and perceived as a Millennial to anyone in their 60s or older. We've all been lumped into either Boomer or Millennial.

Oh no!!!  Horrible news. I loved his postgame show in the 90s and early 2000s :(

    “Who loves you, baby?!?”

"Horrible"? He was 86 not 36...but condolences to his family nonetheless.

He really wasn't my thing on the radio.  Seemed like he was full of hot air and hot takes.  Always negative for the sake of it, even when things were going OK.  Had an army of people who felt the same.  Didn't seem to really back his opinions up with anything substantiative, especially with hockey where he was clearly far out of his depth.

But regardless, he was a personality forever engrained in our sports and sports media history here, and I commend him for that.  RIP

This is pretty much where I land with him, as well. I listened but he wasn't particularly my cup of tea and I realized he was just perpetuating a schtick which worked for him and the station. He was an early version of these modern day 'hot takers' like Skip Clueless and Screamin' A. Smith.

First Spring Training game of the year for our Mets! At Port St. Lucie vs. St. Louis 1:10 PM EST.

An official NY Mets podcast dropped for the first time today. It's called 'Meet At The Apple'. First episode is hosted by Mets play-by-play man Gary Cohen and he interviews owner Steve Cohen on a number of topics including Pete Alonso. This is a good listen and I would recommend it, fellas. Here are the details of the podcast going forward:

"Meet at the Apple with your hosts Vito Calise (@VitoFCalise) and Jonathan Baron (@JMB9191) every Monday and Thursday with exclusive access to the Mets! This is not your everyday baseball podcast; you can get the stats anywhere… Here you’ll get an inside look into the players you love to watch beyond the diamond highlighted by a weekly appearance by Mets manager, Carlos Mendoza!"

That's a cop-out.  All you have to do is look at college football to know that the team that has the ball second in that situation has a HUGE advantage.  I know the college rules are a little different, but the principle is the same:  Much better to know what you need to do on your first possession and potentially have the advantage of utilizing a four-down offense.  In fact, the advantage might be even more pronounced under the NFL rules because the offense has the advantage of playing four-down football the entire length of the field, not just from the opponent's 25 yard line.

Your convictions are just that, yours. They are neither right nor wrong.

The fact that it is a debate in strategy proves they got the OT rules correct. Neither team is at a significant disadvantage like before.

    Correct.

While I was in the "take the ball second" camp, there simply isn't enough live data yet to support either position. It was said somewhere today that 120,000 simulations were run and taking the ball first, I believe, resulted in a win 50.2% of the time. Statistically, it is 50/50.

I’m bored with the off-season and don’t care about this Super Bowl. For fun: if you were the owner of the bills what color combination would you want? I came across this tonight and I have to admit, it’s a good look.
