  1. 'The Simpsons' - 'Lisa The Greek' (Season 3, Episode 14): "The season three episode 'Lisa the Greek,' one of the sweeter moments between the oafish Homer and the brainy Lisa, featured the pair spending quality time by betting on NFL football games thanks to Lisa's never-fail system for picking a winner. The episode was timed to air just before Super Bowl XXVI between the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills. Lisa realizes that Homer only wanted to hang out with her so he could bet on the winner. So the hurt Lisa predicts that Washington will win, but if she subconsciously doesn't love him and wants him to lose, Buffalo will win. According to the DVD commentary, the cast rerecorded the lines to coincide with the next two Super Bowls with the episode airing before each game. Showrunner Al Jean said Lisa not only correctly predicted the outcome of three big games, but he also bet against Lisa's picks in the Gracie Films' notoriously competitive office pool and lost." http://thefw.com/things-you-didnt-know-about-the-simpsons/
  2. Markie Post's character (Christine Sullivan) on the '80s sitcom 'Night Court' was from WNY. Here is a clip of her participating in the 'Miss Greater Buffalo Beauty Pageant' as Miss North Tonawanda: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ1jQY7q4M8
  3. My brother-in-law is a diehard Vikes fan, born & raised in North Dakota. I really feel for him. What a family of winners we are...a combined 0-8 in Super Bowls.
  4. The Steelers are the antithesis of the Bills. Get into the playoffs only because the Bills win a meaningless game for them then have a playoff game gifted to them by the sheer stupidity of the Bengals. Does anyone think that if the roles were reversed those things happen for the Bills? Not a chance in hell. BTW, Cincy...you're a disgrace.
  5. Come on, Bill. You're better than this. I know you can't stand the Bills taking a DB in the 1st Round but the fact of the matter is that it's just not true. Buddy Nix is long gone. In their last six drafts, the Bills have selected a DB just once in the 1st Round: 2010 (RB), 2011 (DT), 2012 (CB), 2013 (QB), 2014 (WR), & 2015 (no 1st Round pick). Darby was their first selection last year but not until the 2nd Round and nobody is complaining about that. So they've taken two DBs with their first selection in the last six years which netted them their starters and one of the better CB tandems in the league. Nothing to complain about. IMO, the play here is to try and re-sign Gilmore, if possible. If he walks, you are looking at another 1st Round DB (or lesser FA signing). Like it or not, it's a passing league and Rex's D is predicated on his DBs.
  6. Haha! No doubt...but at least he was good for a laugh. You had to laugh to keep from crying during his tenure.
  7. It was actually, "It took the sails right out of our wind." Here are some other great Hank Bullough malaprops: http://articles.latimes.com/1988-02-12/sports/sp-28412_1_hank-bullough
  8. Or one easy pick six drop early in the game that would've made a Thompkins TD catch irrelevant. Stuff happens.
  9. These are especially applicable to us long-suffering Bills fans, IMO: "It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up." - Vince Lombardi "The only way to prove that you're a good sport is to lose." - Ernie Banks
  10. Rex finally stops being the constant obsession of the NYC media and the bitter clowns at SNY.
  11. I wish they'd hire John Gruden just to get him off of MNF. Ugh.
  12. Rex wants to get intel from Hankerson on how his Pats* managed to beat the Jest yesterday. Oh, wait....
  13. Agreed. It's a real shame. I wonder if this will push him towards retiring earlier than he'd planned?
  14. Bingo! Bill Polian as consultant to the Bills = much better septuagenarian gig than Wal-Mart greeter. #thanksforthememories #notneeded
  15. The really sad thing is, I wouldn't be at all shocked if at least half of those idiots were posters on this board.
  16. Agreed. I'm not so sure why people have such a hard-on for Jim Schwartz as HC. His last two years as Tennessee's DC were excellent (5th & 7th overall) which led to his hiring as Detroit's HC...where he turned in a miserable 29-51 record. His defenses while the Lions' HC? 2009 (32nd overall), 2010 (21st), 2011 (23rd), 2012 (13th), & 2013 (16th). In his lone year as the Bills' DC, his defense was 4th. So as a DC, sure. As a HC, no way. His teams were undisciplined and suffered from poor clock management. And, as a somebody else mentioned, he was a bit of an asshat as the head honcho. Sound familiar? Wade & Greggo can coach D, too, but I don't want them running my team. Same with Schwartz and same with Rex. Unfortunately, we're stuck with Rex...or so it would seem. May the Schwartz not be with you, Buffalo.
  17. Yes, although any of them would pale in comparison to a Bills Super Bowl victory. MLB: NY Mets CFB: Alabama Crimson Tide
  18. "It's hard to challenge in the NFL..."
  19. Yes. He was undergoing the "concussion protocol" on the sideline after he came out of the game.
